The most recent entry to my journal includes information about the gem that I believe Fat Alice is seeking. She told Elenis and others that it is about the size of an exile's head and that it glows in the firelight. Others told me they thought it was the gem in the Lyfe idol's forehead, and based on the "blue box" messages we got when we tried to touch the gem, I tend to agree.
Has anyone ever tried to touch or get the gem before? I seem to recall bumping the statue many times myself but never getting a message until after Fat Alice said she was looking for that gem. Also, has anyone heard anything further from Alice about the gem? I don't think anyone has paid her the 40k collateral she asked for in exchange for the information on the gem's whereabouts.

Having got the chance to see the gem for myself, a few random theories sprung to mind.
Firstly, there didnt appear to be anything particularly mystical about it...no special mystic only msgs etc.....
So... i started thinking....
1/ its a statue of a lyfe god/hero/whatever with a sleeping lyfe ( named Groar!) -- presumably the high priest or guardian. The statue looks to want an offering....
2/ Fat Alice says she knows how to get it, but didnt fancy getting it herself. Fat Alice is best known for making potions that cause and cure lyfeism....
Now what would a race of infected kitties want most ?.... a cure to the infection perhaps! {{Did Fat Alice infect them in the first place even ? that might explain her unwillingness to go there herself.}}
Anyway, if a Lyfe cure ( Luminescent salve) is indeed what they want....how to give it to them ? There didnt seem to be anywhere special to put (\drop) an offering on the statue other than just throwing it in the the fire at the front.
But maybe....what if one was to \use the potion on Groar instead ?
Does anyone know if a potion can indeed be used on an NPC ?
What does anyone else think? Yes, good idea? No, its ridculous, i must have been hallucinating ?

Worse case scenario IMHO:
Exiles raise the 40K and give it to Fatso, then Fatso allows the gem to be accessible. Story done. Game over. Fat lady sung.
If the true quest was to cure the cats themselves, that would be a terrific storyline. I wonder tho, what is the Lyfe natural state?
As cats or as Were-exiles?

HWC for an exile who is completely willing to donate to Fatso's greed...right after he gets his Fell Blade and Gold Clothes.

Looking at the screenshot of the statue, I would say that the natural state would be the were-state.

Frankly, IMHO, the luminescent salve would make the more sense as an offering to the god/statue. It IS a lyfe god, why would it want people cured? I suppose t would prefer to have a means to accelerate the spread of the 'blessing' (in its opinion) of lyfe-disease.
Just my 2c.

Don't you mean the Luminescent Culture?
On the bright side, mystics can learn that potion. [:)]

the salve cures.....
the culture infects......
Personally i think FatAlice "created" weremoggies by infecting otherwise normal cats. Rumour has it weremoggies are weaker than their regular forms...hard to tell as a mystic since they flatten me either way [:D]
On another note, the larger stone in the lave puddle has twirly stuff around it, very reminicent of ether activity (same twirly grey stuff seen when an amulet breaks). I wonder what significance this has ?

Arg, slave/culture mix up [:)]
Did you test ethereal activity near the statue? It's been a while since I was there and I did not have an amulet the last time I was there.

Mystic only. You can buy an amulet and use it to get a noise and
"You rub your amulet and feel special."
And it makes a cool sparklie when it breaks :)

Um ive only the TK amulet training...so while, yes i did test it , it didnt tell me anything useful.
In the lava room... the amulet hummed
at the statue .....colours swirled in the amulet
Didnt mean anything much to me, and i presume not much to anyone else.
