Respia says, "Hail, Mehan. There is not much more I can teach you."

Congrats!

So do you gain spirit when healing others and stuff then?
What about if they aren't sharing with you?

Mehan

I gain spirit, yah. Not yet unsharing. I only have a 2.5:1 ratio of Respia:Faustus.

I'm gonna keep going <G>

At about 3:1, you gain spirit when healing unshared non-clanmates, but it still hurts!

Hurts? Ya mean ye still lose yer health?

And healing a clanmate is different from healing
some other person? (sharing or not?)

aa looks puzzled.

Mehan

You always hurt when you heal others :)

When you gain enough spirit though, you can heal yourself and heal the other person as well.

A clanmate is easier to heal. They don't have to share you, it's like they're shared.

That's not QUITE right, Mehan. Healing an unshared clanmate fighter is like healing an unshared mystic. Somewhere between a shared and unshared fighter. Healing a clanmate mystic is exactly like healing any other mystic (often ;), and healers are always like shared fighters.

What you said confuses me.

Are you saying that healing a mystic is different than healing fighters?

I know that healing a fellow healer is the same whether they are sharing with you or not but I didn't know that being clanmates had any part in ease or speed of healing.

Can you explain further?

Here's a little chart I made to explain it:

Clanmate means unshared clanmate, since all shared people are equivolent.

OOC:

Althus,

I haven't done extensive studies like you, but my observations indicate that sharing between healers does make a difference. In particular, I've been loosing health while healing an unshared healer and self-healing, then had them share me and I start recovering health. This is in non cross-healing situations, obviously.

FWIW Slyph made very extensive research and concluded that sharing between healers makes absolutely no difference. She was very thourough in her experiments too.

Can you post the data she used to decide it makes no difference?

Althus

Yes. Indeed I can. (http://groups.google.com/groups?q=healing+shared+group:comp.sys.mac.games.adventure+author:ser+author:Slyph&hl=en&lr=lang_en&newwindow=1&selm=TIp48.3688%24z05.460283%40news20&rnum=1)

OOC:

OK, looks like I'll have to do some tests of my own. Slyph specifically did not test the case that I was talking about. I see that someone posted a counter-claim in that thread, but didn't have the guts to back it up. HGM seemed to think, on reading the code, that slyph was wrong, so this could also be one of those bugs that the GMs deny exist, but fix anyway. It could also be that, with enough Spiritus training (which Slyph and Manx probably have), shares don't matter. How much spiritus does Althus have? I think I have seen a difference, so I'll see if I can figure out what was going on.

I'm at 150 and training towards 200. Try Aethelred, maybe? He's got a whopping 1 spirtus.

Thanks Althus.

Big criticism - she has no real data. For example, this would be okay:

"healed manx 1 pixel to full, shared, 43.5 seconds"
"healed manx 1 pixel to full, unshared, 43.4 seconds"

To me that says they're the same. On the other hand, using words like "it seems" means she hasn't done the work to know for sure.

Hey Althus - just remember, every bell-curve needs a back end!

From what I've seen, there are sparkles and a sound when a healer heals someone who isn't sharing and another kind of sparkles and a sound when a healer heals someone who is sharing.

From what I've gathered, when a healer heals another healer they get the sparkles and sound that you get when you heal someone who is sharing with you no matter whether that healer is sharing or not.

It's hard to get exact numbers since the utility that I've heard about being able to track such things specifically doesn't work. Or at least, I have never been able to get it to work the last time I tried it.

Nothing wrong with running your own tests to verify what another person has done. Maybe if you get two healers with the same amounts of Spiritus, Higgrus, and Respia to conduct the tests that'll remove anything that could fudge the data.

P.S. I'm not certain as to what Aethelred is talking about when he refers to Spiritus and Horus and they seem to be rather good trainers in my opinion. Maybe someone could clarify that statement?

Konoko

I think Aethelred means that he has very little training in both Spiritus and Horus. And they don't fit into Aethelred's training plans?

Perhaps the trainers are giving him a hard time about not training with them. Maybe Aethelred did something to piss em off (like slept with Horus' sister or something)... :)
Maybe Spiritus is jealous of Aethelred's beard?
Lots of rumours flying now! :)

2 questions about Horus' sister:
1) Where?
2) Lemme at 'er! Anybody that'd sleep with that kind of dorf...

You have to admit Althus...no woman can resist a good beer belly!

p.s.
Horus makes fun of me every time I run by him to get to Master Proximus - of course it prolly doesn't help that I give Horus the finger on my way through...
