An Idea to Help New Exiles

I was thinking that we really should get into gear about actually aiding new exiles in a useful manner. One of the more obvious tasks was to go hunting with them. However, it is difficult to find them all on at the right time, and there is no 'new exile' forum, through which we can contact them. The solution to this is to have a regularly scheduled hunt.

I was thinking to have it on a weekend day (Sat or Sun) from noon EST to noon PST. It's a simple time to remember, and a broad enough period that plenty should turn out. My idea for the logistics was to have two people responsible for the hunt. One actually leading the hunt, and one chilling in town. That way, when a new exile leaves the library at 2pmEST, and wants to join the hunt, our town person can SS the hunt master, find out where they are, and either escort or dispatch the new exile to the hunt.

The town yeller would be a great way to spread awareness of any plan we want to do. I really think that we will have been lax in our duties if we have not performed a significant deed for new exiles by the end of this weekend, so I would really like to see a plan come into fruition.

BUT i would rather see Aerick incharge of new exile stuff(there was a position for it i think?) and Aerick would be perfect. actuly he would do well almost any where. just my 2c

This is a good idea!

It wouldn't be a clan hunt but a newbie hunt. And by newbie hunt I don't we'd be killing newbies and skinning them :)

More of a scheduled hunt for newbies to participate in. It wouldn't even need to be for just newbies. We could get anyone who is interested who wouldn't mind having newbies tag along (ie going at newbie speed). In other words, we wouldn't be going off to fire isle right away to get all the newbies (and ourselves) massaacred...

I'm a little confused about the time. Noon EST to noon PST? So this is noon EST to 3 PM EST?

I agree with the newbie hunt. Again, I think we need to firm up our regular meeting schedule soon.
I had suggested 3pm EST every other Sunday, and 9PM EST alternating Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Sundays have been ok for most, but have weekday meetings been planned and agreed on?

(But until I start slobbering them too, I might occasionally lose control and solo one or two of the newbies. Come to think of it, I still get a vanq on Zo's...)

Doing it just before a clan meeting would be a good idea -- we could invite some of the newbies to the meeting and actually have them come. But it could be done on an impromptu basis any time a few of us are on and want to do it.

I would recommend, though, that we limit it to clan members and newbies -- let's use this as a chance to really promote The Wind of Dawn as a special group! (And, not let other clans use it as an opportunity to do their own recruiting.)

Once we get back on our feet as far as a Hunt Coordinator, we should start setting up many more quick (1 hour or less) newbie hunts.
