Noticed that there are numerous acronyms used in Sunstone dialogue
that are difficult (at least for me) to decypher. Many use only two letters
with reference to a specific location.
Is there a dictionary or glossary for these?
I could ask when they appear, but don't want to delay others because
they seem to be used alot during rescue attempts when time is of the
essence.
Thanks.

There are some acronyms explained in the FAQ (http://macrules.com/users/clanlordfaq/). I'm not sure if there's a better list somewhere. I would be happy to put a more comprehensive list together if folks think there's a need. I'd also be happy to answer any acronym questions you might have if you'd like to post them.

hem...in an effort to gain the title of most useless post, I am submitting the following:

I seem to remember a list that someone had on a website with the majority of them. Might be Baba, or Cheacrets, or Tam's. Maybe Sun Dragon, or Puddleopdeia...

Heh, at least I know its out there!

Cheers,

Eek had a pretty good list (http://home.pacbell.net/j-hender/cl/list.html) for a while, but now it's kinda out of date. Here are some of the more common ones:

KI/UI - Kizmia's Island/Umbrion's Island (same place)
NWF/NNF - Northwest forest. (Typ still calls it "new north forest")
OOB - Orga Outback
QC - Queen's Chamber. Usually they mean scaramis QC if they're over 2nd circle.
WBG - Wendecka Breeding Grounds, that new area in GMV (Greymyr Village)

The best way to find out is to /thinkto a knowledgeable friend about it. (Gurgi's rule: A general SS receives general silence.)

I find myself using them more and more of late.
BUT...only when responding to a message that contained the full spelling.

I just can't pass this wonderful opportunity to plug my scroll [:D]

Seriously I make an effort to always add the acronym when I refer to some place and my travel section has many as well (and also the link Althus cited).

One thing that helped me when I was new was that I found a substitution macro somewhere (can't remember where). What it does is that when you type 'kb' for instance it replaces the text with 'kitty beach.' I remember I'd hear someone mention a place on the sunstone and I would type the acronyme in my text input pane and type space and see it explained. I found it very useful at the time. Here is a example of such a substitution macro. Just copy it and paste it in your 'Default' file (in the macro folder of the CL folder) in any text editor.

// Location Acronyms
'sf' "south forest"
'nf' "north forest"
'ef' "east forest"
'efi' "east field"
'nef' "northeast forest"
'nep' "northeast plains"
'nwf' "northwest forest"
'lp' "lilly pond"
'oc' "orga camp"
'kb' "kitty beach"
'tw' "tanglewood"
'snw' "snagglewood"
'spw' "spiritwood"
'tgbg' "tree giant breeding ground"
'nbc' "new bear cave"
'obc' "old bear cave"
'qc' "queen chamber"
'nwb' "north west beach"
'nnwb' "north NW beach"
'ki' "Kizmia Island"
'fi' "Fire Island (DI)"
'di' "Devils Island (FI)"
'ti' "Tenebrion's Island"
'tk' "Tenebrion's Keep"
'ep' "Ethereal Plane"
'tc' "town center"
'dt' "dark temple"
'dc' "dark chamber"
// end location Acronyms

Hope this helps [:)]

We have a bunch of those substitution macros in our new exile starter macros page. Heyboy contributed them. I had to remove a few over time because some of the acronyms conflict with other common acronyms. But it is useful for getting to know the names of some things.

The one that always bugs me is 'dc'. If you see me in the dunes or beaches and I'm yelling 'dark chamber', I actually mean deadly crawler... :)
