View Full Version : Which Ex-Drakes are Interested?

Konoko brought up an excellent point. As of right now, it is not clear who wants to form a new clan, who wants to disperse, and who just doesn't care. Could people please post here what their feelings are, and if they are at least interested in forming a clan to replace the one we left?

My position is not as straightforward as many assume. I am crushed and upset that the clan I helped found has strayed so far from its vision and is now in dire straights. I am not entirely sure that I want to run the risk of having that much time and effort fail again.
I think that if I believe that this new clan can amount to what the Silver Drakes tried to, I will join it. I will certainly do my best to offer any assistance I can to shape it and help it along.

As I mentioned, I am interested in learning more about this new clan before I make a decision.
I think if those who wrote up the clan reorg document and if those who left the drakes, all join this new clan and do their best to carry through with the initial vision of what this clan could be, this new clan would be another great clan.
Aerick, as for putting all your time and effort into making a new clan, remember: practice makes perfect. Learn from what happened with the Silver Drakes when administering over the new clan.
I obviously wasn't there when the drakes formed but it sounds like there were many great ideals and goals. Some of those exist today while others do not.
The Drakes is successful. It is a clan with a number of active members (a few less now though). You and others were hoping for a change of direction that didn't happen.
Start again with a new clan and see your vision through to the end...
Hope that's enough of a pep talk for Aerick and all the other ex-drakes! :)

I will try to be honest.
I am really disappointed so I am not sure what I really do.
I know the following:
- I like to be in a clan
- I like the goal: "help the new exile"
- I like the idea "no power, no fame, no coins are important"
- I like the idea "fun is important"
- I like to be in a clan with a lot of friends (that is the most important thing perhaps)
summary: I would be really happy in a clan with you Aerick and Kiri and Konoko and (certainly) Tater and certainly with ... (hmm no I will not say, as perhaps they want to stay in the silver drakes clan :-), if Nuvali can be in, better (I think it will be really difficult). A clan with the same goal as the Silver Drakes, with some organisation. And I will be happy to be an ambassador to the Silver Drakes clan, really (so I see often the friends who are in my new clan and those who are in my old clan :-)))

Farhope hit the nail on the head. The main reason I joined the Drakes: Tater and Nuvali, friends who I had gotten to know outside of the clan.
The most important thing is afterall, the company we keep.
One thing of which I would like to throw my 2c in regarding a new clan...
Yes, the goal of the Drakes was noble:Help out the new exiles. I would like to see this as ONE of the goals of a new clan but...
this must have limits. As a new exile, I would have learned nothing by a veteran player taking me on a hunt to the New North Woods. I would have fallen, and perhaps be raised by a veteran healer along the way. I would have swung out my balance and not learned the most valuable lesson for a fighter...you should NOT swing untill you can swing no more. A veteran player could have bricked the monster. This would also teach a newbie to look for a brick each time it sees a monster. I have heard of certain newbies being called "bunnies". Monster chases them, and they start running around looking fer exiles to dump the monster on. I know, I've done it in my ignorance. A new exile must stick around town for a long period...I know its frustrating that they cannot see new and interesting places at first. And they will fall OFTEN. They need to be hardened to this fact. They need to be aclimated to life as an exile.
but I digress...
I WOULD like a clan as this to have room for growth. Perhaps a "Tan Claw" as once was brought up in the Drakes. Several sections in the clan which would work toward different goals.
As examples:

Hey Tater don't bogart the ambassador position! I would also like to be an ambassador to other clans, and and explorer as Nunul sugessted. I like the responses i'm getting from the other Ex-Drakes and the ideas are great. Keep em coming...

I miss having my sisters, Farhope and Tater, in the same clan as me.
I am disappointed with the immature, confused leadership of the Silver Drakes, and not just over the Dun'silar issue.
I might be interested in joining your new clan. Keep me posted.
I am a member OOC of a group very much like a clan in a larger game. It's called the Domain of the Blue Rose. Our motto is, "It's just a game!" The subtext here is that games are for fun - not tears and tirades. Sometimes, games can frustrate, but if it's not a challenge, the fun fades. I look for groups that embody that message - I thought Silver Drakes did, but Ame's little tirades proved otherwise.
I haven't yet decided to leave the Drakes and join a different clan. But I'm pretty close to it. Will your new clan approach Clan Lord as a game or as a life and death struggle? I need to know in order to help me make my decision.
Thanks for taking time to read my post.

Well, I hope everyone does realise that Clan Lord is a game... ;)
Hope I didn't ruin anything for anybody... :)
I think this new clan, as already stated as one of its goals, is to help newbies. What we're doing is basically offering an in-game service to help those within the game and new to the game, to enjoy the game even more. We're basically offering to help those in the game to play the game...
To get really off-topic, life (both ooc and ic) itself could even be seen as a game...
Deep, eh? :)
But one thing the Drakes seems to maybe have a bit too much of is role-playing. There's nothing wrong with role-playing but maybe it went a little too far. This role-playing may make issues which aren't life and death into life and death issues in the interest of role-playing. Until people actually left the drakes, I wasn't sure if all this situation wasn't just some big in character role-playing thing...
But I'm sure one thing we should try to do is to not forget that Clan Lord is a game. Yes, repeat after me, it's just a game... :)
But it's a good game!

Speaking of games....
Tarf is trying to start some sort of Pushball league. Might be a great way for the clan to have some fun. =)

I really hope you will join the new clan Corwin- you add a great humor and fun to these discussions, and will no doubt to the clan as well.

I have voiced my opinion in another post outside of this one. I made my preference known as to whom I believe should be the founder. I will surrender my monies to them If they take the mantle of Leadership. We may have a bit of a task ahead to gain the cash needed to found a clan, and I am willing to sell the shirt off of my back to further the cause.
Who's with me?
ps. Tate, that "Rumblin, Stumblin, Bumblin!" is just the thing that would put a smile on an exile in dire straits if they heard it coming thier way!
(much better than "BACON!!"

I've talked to Aerick and Kiriel about this money situtaion. It doesn't look at all like we'll be hurting for money to start the clan. The fowlloing kinda sums up our conversations. Aerick, Kiriel, please correct me if I misquote or something... :)
One suggestion was that whoever is interested in joining the clan from the beginning and therefore in essence being a founder, would pay some coins. These coins would then help in the creation of the clan.
Say we have 10 people who are interesed in joining the clan from the beginning. I believe the entry fee is 2400 (including the first 4) and then 100 each for each member after that. So 10 people would be 2400 + 600 = 3000. Someone please correct me if I have the numbers wrong!
Okay so we're at 3000. With 10 people that would make it 300 each. I'm guessing this would be a ballpark goal for those interested. Some may not have that kind of money and others may have more. For instance I can pay 500+.
However, if we all chip in semi-equal amounts, then we would all technically be the founders of the clan. Also, as a group contribution, one person couldn't say later on something: "Well, I gave 2000 copins so I'm therefore the leader" or something silly like that...

Another approach to the situation is to start the clan budget before the clan exists. That way, everyone can pool their contributions, and the actual money used to start the clan will come out of the treasury. The advantage of this is that long term, it doesn't really matter when the money went in.
For example, my thousand coins have been building up for several OOC months. Once that money goes into the clan, I won't be able to refresh it anytime soon. Which means that I won't be as big a contributer to the clan fund as fur hunting fighters. But the fact that I have my money now, as opposed to later in the clan, shouldn't matter at all.
I'm not sure if I am explaining this well, it's one of those things that just makes sense to me, and I'm having problems putting into words.
