View Full Version : (Poesy Waves Nervously)
Poesy

Ahem. (Poesy shuffles her feet nervously.) I'm not as eloquent as Wheatstone, but here goes. I'd like to join Winds of Dawn.
1. Why do you want to join Winds of Dawn?
(Poesy starts out at the trivial end to warm up) I like wind! Other than dirt between my toes, the rock of my old cave, oh and Beer! and Gold! I uh, like it best. (Poesy begins to look a little uncertain as she remembers a very windy rocky unpleasant boat ride she took recently...) Hm. I like wind when I'm on land. I like running into the wind because it makes me feel like I'm fast even though I have stubby little legs and I run more like a bear than a gazell. (Suddenly Poesy realizes that she has gotten completely off the topic, and she's really not supposed to be talking about wind at all.) Oh. Well. (Poesy scritches under her helmet.) I like all the people I've met in Winds of Dawn (Poesy says in a rush) they're all really nice and I want to be nice too. (Poesy brightens) I _am_ nice! (Poesy grins) And I want to hang out with a lot of other nifty friendly helpful people because it's much more fun to be friendly and helpful in a group than by yourself. (Poesy looks down and scuffs her boot in the dirt some more) And hunting by yourself rots.
2. In what ways do you enjoy helping new exiles?
(Poesy looks cheery) I like making people happy. I like showing people things, and helping people and ... and giving people beer! And anything else I have really. I like teaching people the easy way to wack a monster if they don't know how, and well, really I want to make people smile and laugh, because what else is there really? (Poesy looks serious for a moment.)
3. What do you enjoy doing when you are out of the Library?
Hmm. I like doing things with people that like me and will occationally be a little bit goofy with me. I like chatting with people, and supporting rescues, and running around and wacking things, and spinning in circles and falling down, and running monsters, and protecting people. And I don't like boats or fish. Much. (Poesy looks anxiously at Wheatstone to see if he noticed and bites her lip.)
4. What do you not enjoy doing?
Being mean. It makes me cry. Oh! And I really really don't like it when everyone around me is running (or paddling) around with their heads cut off running into impossibly dangerous situations by themselves and not wanting to be just the slightest bit intelligent or tactical and wait for a small mob to attack all at once, and falling and waiting to be chained or healed and then rushing in and falling and the waiting to be chained or heald and then rushing in and falling and then... (Poesy glares and looks positively frightful!) I also don't like doing stupid things like tripping over my own feet and traping healers next to monsters. And I don't like getting chewed on by rats.
These questions should end with something more happy! (Poesy does a little stomping dance.) Vote for me! Ahem. (Poesy looks serious and bashful again.) I really like y'all, I found Himitsu's Squiring inspiring (hee! there's a song there!), so I thought I'd pin myself to the board for your examination. (Poesy looks uncomfortable with her feet dangling above the floor) I'll be at the joint hunt tomorrow unless I get confused about the time. (And if I can figure out how to unstick myself from this board... hmm...)

Whoops! I forgot about today's clan hunt!
My OOC plans were cancelled and I was just sitting around home cleaning up... :(
I did have the feeling that I was forgetting something though...
oh well. Was it fun? Did anything exciting happen?

We missed you Konoko! It was a fun (but very long) hunt! We had a lot of difficulty making it through Hatred's Hollow but we finally made it, and then those that still had time stayed for a leisurely jaunt through OOB back to snaggy. I posted a visionstone in the photo gallery but warning because it's huge!

I thought it was a lot of fun and it went really well and under the excellent leadership of Kiriel and Delirium, we kept our cool and made excellent progress through Snagglewood, Hatred's Hollow, and then the Trainer's Grove. I saw Xepel sign up for Rodnus training so he took advantage of the trip. There were a lot of Rages, Furies, Wraiths, and Berserks on the way back and even I got to do some tagging which was a lot of fun and very dangerous. I don't know how long I'll get experience from that as I'm dispatching Berserks now. [:(] There was a bad exit as those of us who ran without fighting anything ran into fire and death vermine in the Orga Camp and all fell, but fortunately the back-up team came through and saved us all.
It was a fun trip and I enjoyed myself immensely.

I took one but divided it into two parts, before Trainer's Grotto and then just afterwards but I'm sure your visionstone will be more exciting than mine since you went on chaining rescues and I often stayed when the fighter's went in to fight. However, I can post it if you want. I considered putting it on my scrolls so you can link to them if you so desire once I've uploaded them.

Hm. Well, I've been to two clan meetings so far, and the Noth hunt after the first meeting, and the just completed WoD/ELF hunt, and in the Newbielympics the falling contest, the trivia contest, the pushball contest and the closing ceremonies. Those are all of the ones I know for sure, other than posting in the newsgroup. So Er.. (Poesy scratches her head and looks desperate as she tries to count above 5) um... 9? [:D]

I was looking forward to it too! I was disappointed when I thought I couldn't make it. I know I'm disappointed that I forgot about it when I could make it :)
Anyways, I'm glad everyone had fun. I saw that Phiros has organised a hunt with some other group. Hopefully I can make that one (and remember it :)

Ah, yei. Phiros has kindly extended an offer to my clan, the Evergreen Circle, to hunt with Winds of Dawn, next (ooc) Sat, the 23rd, at 6:00 PM PDT. On behalf of the Evergreen Circle I would like to say, whee :-D! I look forward to it and hope to see everybody! Any ideas where to adventure? *grins mischievously* Our clan is comprised mostly of second-circlers, but we don't seem to be opposed to falling...
Winds of... Evergreen! Fresh piney goodness!
Yours in milk,

I was thinking it might be a good group to try on the entry area to Melabrion's Mines, since the atkus requirements in that section of the mines are fairly low. Depending on how well we do, we might try venturing further inside. Perhaps we should wait and see what kind of turnout we have and then try to figure out where to go.

\ponder how could she have know that's what I do?.....
Well I really couldn't have said it any better but in the Lands exiles don't tend to be the smartest people around(and I speak for myself).
Like when Mehan told me not turn my back to what I was fighting. What a novel concept!![:)]
Thanks for applying Poesy. Hopefully I will meet you someday!

Oh most of the time it's on a small scale and it's fine... I was recalling specifically the Darshak invation of town about one OOC week ago I think. The part faught in Puddleby was fine, there was a well defined front, and a good mix of fighters and healers, and most fighters managed to make it to a healer before falling, but even so the healers weren't too far away if you did fall. Then there was the open sea stage, that wasn't too bad... although a little more chaotic and all the healers had moved to the hospital on Centaur Island so the amount of chaining went up drastically... The part where it really started to get to me though, was when we were trying to clear out the bay around Ash Island... And frankly Steady Foot, probably the most frustrating thing was that I couldn't figure out anything better to do than rush into Ash Bay and get slaughtered myself, not knowing anyone then out of the library enough to form a group. That's when I decided to leave for the library myself.
I suppose that's another reason I'd like to join a clan, although not specific to this one, so that in times of strife and emergency I have a group I know I can look to, and fight with rather than ineffectively soloing.
I look forward to meeting you in the lands

Well said - that's the nice part about having a clan/family/group of friends where you can help each other out.
On a larger scale, for some things, patience can be a big virtue. There are times where there are monsters, etc that are tough to hit. Patience is valuable in waiting for the best time to attack when the healers, fighters, etc are all in place. And even then, an exile may not have enough atkus, detha, etc to even play a major role against some of the super beasts.
That being said, I have little or no patience when it comes to sitting around and waiting. But sometimes that's all that can be done while getting setup for the fun stuff... :)
