This has absolutely nothing to do with Clanlord in any way but...
Can anybody recommend a good C Programming development package(text editor, compilor, executor if possible) that i can use on an iBook?
Preferably a free download
thanks
Try the MacOS X Development-Tools.
Shipped with MacOS X and newer versions available for free
on Apples servers.

What Hor said.
The OS X developer tools are included with OS X and on every new Mac....
but they are not automatically installed. There is a package you must install. If you ibook came with OS X, the package should be somewhere on your hard disk.

The only reasonable thing to use under 9.x is CodeWarrior.
Jaguar is MUCH cheaper, and much better.

Toy can pick up a very cheep 10.1 on ebay. I have seen it go for between $1 and $10 quite often. It isnt as good as 10.2 in a lot of ways, but you do have full X functionality.
BTW 10.0 isnt worth it, even for free.

I have to disagree with this statement. I've used OS X since the public beta first came out and I liked it from the start. However, I've been using UNIX systems since before there was a Mac OS. I did some work with c under 10.0 and I thought that Mac OS X 10.0 is a great version of UNIX. Where it was somewhat lacking was in compatibility with OS 9 apps - I re-booted between 9 and 10.0 a fair bit until 10.1 came out. If you want a c/UNIX programming environment, 10.0 is well worth it. If you want a c/Macintosh programming environment, you should get 10.1 or later.
If you must program under OS 9, then I second what hidden said - Codewarrior (http://www.metrowerks.com/MW/Develop/Desktop/Macintosh/Default.htm) is the only way to go. But unless the "learning" edition will do or you can get an academic discount, it's far less expensive to upgrade to OS X 10.2 - the full version of Codewarrior is $600. Even if you can get an academic discount, OS X is still less expensive, since Apple also has discounts.

I just saw this on MacFixIt:
CodeWarrior for $99 Metrowerks is offering a special on CodeWarrior Development Studio, Mac OS X Edition, v8, pricing the software at $ 99.00 for a limited time. The regular price $399. Offer ends February 28, 2003 midnight CST, and cannot be combined with other offers. More.

I haven't tried this and I'm not suggesting it or anything.
It's just something that someone might be interested in...

Note "Mac OS X Edition". That implies it might not work with Classic.
Same problem.

Hidden is right as, if you do a little link clicking, you get this information.
CodeWarrior Development Studio, Mac OS X Edition, v8, is a subset of CodeWarrior Development Tools for Mac OS, v8. This Mac OS X edition was built specifically for developers who want to work solely in Mac OS X using either C/C++ or Objective C.
The Mac OS X edition does not support Java or the cross-platform capabilities of the Professional Edition. To see a matrix that shows the differences between the two editions, click here (http://www.metrowerks.com/MW/Develop/Desktop/Macintosh/Professional/Matrix.htm).
Basically it's for developing programs using Mac OS X only for Mac OS X and nothing else.
However, I will send you CodeWarrior Discover Programming version 5 for only the cost of shipping if you want me to. You'd pay about $10 plus shipping for it on eBay so you're getting a good deal. Just let me know.
