True story:
Ed, an engineer from Chicago, was in the airport one monday waiting to fly out to the newest project with his team.
His new and enthusiastic boss talked to him. "Ed, you seem a little depressed lately, what you need is some focus. Take this sheet of paper and number it 1 to 10 down the side." As Ed did his boss continued, "For 1, write down where you are now."
Ed wrote "Bored" by the first number.
"Now at 10, write down where you want to be in 10 years," his boss continued. Ed wrote "Cruising the Carribean."
"Now," the expert on management techniques recomended, "write down what you need to do to get from 1 to 10."
Ed wrote "quit my job." He looked at the paper, looked at his boss, looked at the paper again, then handed it to his boss and walked out of the airport without another word.
He spent the next 10 years doing research for his book Rums of the Eastern Carribean (http://www.ministryofrum.com/book.html)
