We do absolutely nothing.

1,000c says he's entirely powerless and just trying to stir shit up.

I say we do nothing and wait for this guy to show up and tell us what his "or else" is. If it's bad enough, I'm pretty sure we can get the 500,000c from the exiles who are currently clanning or get close enough to satisfy him without having to go out and hunt to get the money.

1) Has anyone ever heard of Kiril Drakesblood b'fore?
If not, why'd we be skeert o'someone who'd sneak in under cover o'dark an' plant a skinny l'il sign in da sand?
Why would we owe tribute t'someone we's never heard of b'fore?
Iff'n this Drakesblood feller's (gal?) so intimidatin', why hasn't we heared rumours?
Is we in dat much of a hurry t'git under someone else's tumb, after gittin' out from under Mobius'?
Iff'n dat's da case, where does I git a signpost anna alias?

2) Now dat's a differmint kettle o'fish.
Prepare. Iff'n it's no freat, da preparations'll come in handy against da 'Shak or da Okras.

Taryn, Sylph, and I were on the beach when the sign went up.

There were a few Darshok about- we whiffed on a marine for a while until someone with some Atkus showed up to help us.

My feeling is that this is just another Darshok conspiricy to keep us oppressed.

What we should do is simple: first we fire Wesgurd, then we repel the invasion, then we raze the Darshok outposts on other islands.

Remember, "Thousands for fashionable clothing, but not one coin for tribute!"

My guess is that this Kiril is a new subcommander for the darshak.

Either he throws a huge invasion on us, and/or steals money from the bank, or he tries to press us harder into giving this outrageous sum of money to him, like kidnapping someone or some such.

Or it could just be all a hoax. What do I know?

BTW, in the event that an invasion DOES occur, I suggest keeping a close eye on the bank just in case.

C'mon now...
Whats this silliness? Between Fat Alice wanting a gazillion coins so that she can clue us in on what favor we can do for her and this bozo, the big question in my mind is:

WHAT THE HELL DO THEY USE THE MONEY FOR!?!?!

Clothes? Dye? Friggin haircuts? Manicures?
DO THEY DONATE IT TO A BONFIRE!?!?

I say we pummel his buttocks on the 16th and pave our town center with his army's hides.

The other day, I went by Eagurd. The sucker was asleep. On duty. Even if they're awake, the guards do nothing. Critters come through the gates, they do nothing. There's an invasion, they do nothing (not even raise an alarm!) Personally, I think we oughta tell 'em if they don't shape up, we're gonna hang 'em.

As for the 'Shak not being around, that sounds an awful lot like they're prepping to attack the town. Possibly on one of the unexplored islands, since they haven't been seen anywhere else.

Maybe, if (when) they do invade again we can either (a) find their leaders and convince them that they'll live longer if they leave us alone or (b) burn down their town and kill every one of them, thus eliminating their threat permanently.

I wouldn't be surprised if they report to the emperor exactly what is they see us doing.

I would consider it the least the guards cold to to /yell that something is coming through the gate.

How about we instal a pay turnstyle on the west gate- 10 coins to enter town. We could make a profit off the next invasion!

Any exiles could go around to the north or south if they were too cheap to pay [:)]

Indeed, the guards are most likely government (Ascendancy) employees. As such, they probably get big budget increases and promotions every time they fail to protect us from an invasion.

All the more reason to get rid of them and install some proper guards who're going to look after our interests.

Maybe we should demolish that statue in Town Centre too.
We are a free land now and no longer under the thumb of the Acendancy.

They threw us out and turned their backs on us not caring whether we lived or died.

The Acendancy has no power in the Lok'Grotan islands and we are free to rule ourselves, its been who knows how many years since the first of us was exiled and aside from the Sentinal has there been any sign of the acendancy in or around Puddleby?

Were too far away and have no resourses to get the majority of exiles back to the Acendancy lands so we are not considered a threat, why should he feel the need to police us?

As for that drakesblood fellow (stupid name bet he's really called Smith) I fancy that he'll turn up on the 10th (anybody know what time to expect him) and find either an army of exiles ready to charge at him howling for his blood or an empty docks because people arnt worried and are just going to ignore his tin pot dictator demands.

Personally id like to see him captured then we can make our own demands to the darshak, maybe with 500,000 coins tribute for not killing him we could finally finish off al those building projects and bribe the clerks down at the permit office to hand over the permits no questions asked.

Merdi, 10th day of Spring is, ooc, Sunday 16th Feb. I predict a major turn-out of exiles on that day.

As for the guards - they're probably asleep standing up at their posts most of the time. Would you want their job?

I think Fleming summed the situation up pretty well at the ELF clan meeting when he said we'd be better off buying 50 greatswords.

5 AM? What the fuck is up with that? Why make an event that about 10 people will be logged on for?

Um, over the course of history, its oft been noted that the easiest time to invade somewhere is when there is least resistance, when everyone is away in the fields, or asleep or at a festival etc......and not, in fact, when everyone is wide awake, alert and manning the battlements so to speak, though im sure such an able leader as yourself knows this already.....

On a rather more ooc note, it will be a refreshing change if a "major event", if indeed this turns out so to be, actually happens when those of us that live anywhere else in the world, other than western USA can be around to play a part. So many previous crucial story events in CL have happened at times noone in Europe, for example, can ever possibly make (3-6am for example) that it sometimes seems the only way to really get involved in the big plots is to become nocturnal or emigrate.

An IC Day is 6 OOC hours long. So its like 11 in the
OOC-morning then - not the best timing I would guess, but actually
its pretty good for the euro-clanners.

Timeframe is like 2 pm - 8pm CET for them. But I would be
be surprised if Kiril acts in the early morning. Sounds like an
evening guy. 8)

I said that day starts at 5AM, not that Drakesblood intends to show up at that time (ie, midnight). I dunno when he'll show (and in fact, he may not show on the 10th - the 11th starts at 11 AM PST Sunday (approximately)).

Yep, jest because th' money's due on th' 10th, he may be planin ta give us a few days grace, who knows when he's gonna show up? Could be th' stroke o' midnight on th 9th, could be a week later. I figure I'll just be keepin an eye on ThoomCare fer bulletins.

He'll almost certainly turn up some time on the 10th asking for his money, chances are if he doesnt get it immediately he'll give the signal to attack.
But whether thats at midnight, noon or later i doubt anybody can say, if he is any sort of tactition he will turn up when we least expect it.

Rant Mode On
That sign was an unequivocal threat and must not be tolerated, if we bow down before the darshak we wont be exiled, we'll be killed or turned into Undine.

They made a mistake with the soul glasses (did they make them anyway? i heard they were found in the greymyr village) they tried to get us to do the work for them, if they had used them themselves they would have been unstoppable they ill not make the same mistake again and they must not be given the chance to.

There are many unsolved mysteries about the darshak, what happened to the alchemist?, where is their base?, how did they create the soul glasses and why havent they tried again?
The darshak are the greatest threat to us exiles since the acendancy came to power and more should be done to ensure the balance of power remains (At our current level I dont think we can destroy the darshak we can only hold off their most powerful undine not destroy it and who knows what is lurking in the deepest reaches of their hidden base)

End of Rant

I don't think the Soul Glasses (Orbs) were made by the Darshak. The first couple were found lying around, but the majority possesed by exiles were created by other exiles as a side effect of banishing a creature to the void.

I think that some Darshak leader claimed to have made the Orbs, but the magic doesn't appear to be similar to anything else the Darshak use.

Thats what i thought, but i wasnt sure.

After all if they had that kind of power/magic they would have over run us by now.

Now the only question is who DID create them? they cant be a natural occurance.

Good question.

What are they made from?

Why are there none in the lands?

I think the Ripture War cleansed the lands. Changed them too. But the cleansing removed the Orbs.
Since there are no new ones, I would conclude that the powers that made them are not currently in the lands. Perhaps the Riptures were the access points for the powers that created the orbs.

Are moonstones and Orbs made from the same starting material? Are Orbs corrupted moonstones? If so, can Orbs be generated "naturally?"

What is the nature of the forces controlled (or something) by the Orbs? And how does that tie in to the power associated with moonstones, the undine, the Dark Temple, and the Darshak Priests?

Precious little knowledge. Maybe some dark nasty stuff lurks. By comparison, it makes the 'Brions seem darn neighborly.

Ya know, Taryn has been pretty curious about all sorts of stuff lately. I nominate her to get to the bottom of all this!
