Does anyone know if there is a limit on library ranks?
Is there a certain amount of time beyond which one gains no experience?
What is the longest uninterupted study session anyone has done?
Do the advanced libraries really make a difference? (Other than sucking coins out of your purse.)

There is a limit, 4 OOC months.
See this thread (http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&frame=right&rnum=1&thl=0,1246738043,1246735251,1246731358,1246724632,1246718577,1246717603,1246713079,1246709361,1246688726,1246686102,1246682773&seekm=B6E7C67F.14CEA%25jbk%40geotec.net#link1) for further details.
Edit: If you're planning on staying long enough that you have to worry about the cap, then yes, the advanced libraries will make a very significant impact.
I know you didn't ask this, but FYI I've found that the free library gives about 10 ranks a zodiac if you don't come out at all. I didn't do extensive testing though, just what I've noticed.

That's 10 ranks/zodiac for someone of your experience level. For some of the 'older' exiles, the free library gives 3 or fewer ranks/zodiac.

The library is by far the best way you can spend your coins. You should always stay in the most expensive one that you can afford at the expense of all else, even new weapons.
And as far as I know there is no limit on the "new" library. There was a limit on the old one that caused someone problems once (they had a char in there for years and only got 1/4 the ranks they should have). But I remember the GMs saying that only happened because they were in the old (pre rip) library and that it wouldnt have happened if he had logged on since then and stayed in the new library.
But yes the pay librarys are VERY important.

There is a limit. Listen to the NPC's dialogue. The limit is there to keep possible library time glitches from screwing us over.

FWIW, I spent most of five months in the monestary, and came out only today (hi!). I dn't have the exact number, but I got ten speedup rank applications in Balthus and then switched to Atkus for 5 more, on top of ten or eleven indivudual ranks. I know that the speed-up trainer varies in the exact number that you get per speed-up session, but I went from 68 Balthus to "Teaching you has taught me much" from this and Atkus went from 197 to "Not much more."
Just my own experience.

P.S. - is there any place in the isles today for a second-circle Thoom monk? I can only play very casually, but I'm interested in becomming involved despite my lack of time. Thanks.

Sum, good spots for group hunts at your level (and you're probably almost 3rd circle at this point) are LP (lily pond), RC (rocky cavern), snaggy, and possibly TGBG (tree giant breeding ground). Savannah isn't bad either- good coin and still probably not bad experience for you. You can also probably do a fairly decent job of tagging in the KI and MI waters if there's someone in your group who can finish them off, and there's always old fashioned coin hunting.

Hi Sum, good to see you back. Give me a yell if you see me in the lands.

Unless you have 250 atkus, dont piss away your time luck hitting TGs to death.
Thank you for your suggestions. I will mostly only have time to clan around noon, EST, but it's nice that some of you remember me and maybe I'll see you in-game.
Anyhow, I didn't want this to turn into a thread discussing newbie tactics and hunting grounds. I really appreciate your thoughts, but shouldn't you be talking about the library?
