Is there a time limit on the 2nd circle fighters test? And if so, does anyone know what it is? Because twice now Ive found myself back outside the doors before I was fallen.

Yes there is a time limit. Off hand I do not know what it is.
Being 3rd circle I can only talk about two tests and they both have time limits. (2nd & 3rd)[:)]

Fighters: The time limit (I think) is 2 or 3 minutes for 2nd circle, and increases one minute per circle. This is for fighters, of course.
Healers: I'm not sure any healer has ever hit the time limit on our tests, so that would be hard to say.
Mystics: Mystics have a time limit of about 4 years. If you haven't been promoted for 4 years you're probably screwed.

Is that IC or OOC and are you referring to the time between JM and FM or AM and JM or both?

It was OOC. As for your other question... you're a smart mystic. Figure it out.

While I certainly have an opinion of which one you are referring to I am not going to assume that's what you mean as well unless I have sufficient facts to come to a conclusion.
I don't think asking you for clarification warranted the smartass remark you gave.

Wouldn't it be more like,
"Why you fail, that is."
Or?

Nope. It's a direct Yoda quote.

He doesn't always use the reversed grammar, it's just the most distinctive part of his speech that sticks out. Since he doesn't actually have that many lines, I could probably run a quick comparison, but I have a feeling nobody gives a damn.

I know you have no authority on the official policy of how mystics get promoted but you were offering your opinion and I wanted to know what exactly you meant by your opinion which is why I initially asked for clarification on what you meant becaue I wanted to know what your opinion was exactly.
If you don't want to clarify your opinion, that's certainly your right. I just think your response was unwarranted.

But grape juice, now there's something to talk about. Especially when fermented. [:D]

To address the original question, yes there are time limits on healer circle tests.
I reached the limits during second and third circle tests, using "touch and go" healing techniques (for the record, it's a better technique in the test than in the field, since Glory only needs to stand up and is not concerned with being tagged by a critter).
I know of other healers who also have taken the tests to the time limit.
The limit is 2 minutes, though it seems a heck of a lot longer ;-)

The 2nd circle healer test time limit is 2 1/4 mins (ooc) from when one starts being able to heal Glory. I have, alas, hit it several times.

Is that prime time, or off-prime?

Yes, indeed. I seem to be running out of time to kill the NW's more often than I fall. How about we take our tests together next time, Dandelion?

It's from watching the visionstone, which I think would be the same as off-prime. When I take the test, I'm a bit busy to watch the time that closely. But I test off-prime, and give myself two minutes, and if I run out of time, it's a little more than that, which would be consistent with the visionstone time.

Dat's a verrah good idear, Deli. I'll run da NW's fer ya, while you heal da bitc...er Glory. An' da nex' time, you can run a coupla da cats while I heal 'er. Dat way, we dun gotter kill anyting.

Here are the facts:
a) Visionstones run at prime-time speed.
b) Tests times are measured in frames, not minutes, I think. That or it's minutes, not frames, now. I remember hearing someone whine a while back about how non-PT testers didn't get enough time, or how PT testers didn't get enough frames, or something like that. Either way, the test is a different length in each one.

Umm... that isn't true, Hidden. The easiest way to see this is to try recording a bard song with lyrics. I've watched the Slyphonics' concert visionstone several times, and every time I watch it the lyrics are almost, but not quite, in sync with the music. That was recorded at noon, PST. I tried complaining to Maz about it, and he said that the visionstone runs at about 0.05-0.1 frames per second different than the speed the actual movie was recorded because of the way it was programmed. Or something like that. In any event, the lyrics do NOT go 1/3 slower than they should.
Then again, I've never timed it, so I could be wrong.... [shrug].

Yeah, HGM said that he was going to verify that was the case in this newsgroup thread (http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&threadm=hidden-1111012109420001%40mccarthy-pbdsl-2.stanford.edu&rnum=1&prev=/groups%3Fq%3DHelpfulGM%2Bframes%2Btests%2Bgroup:comp.sys.mac.games.adventure%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26group%3Dcomp.sys.mac.games.adventure%26selm%3Dhidden-1111012109420001%2540mccarthy-pbdsl-2.stanford.edu%26rnum%3D1). I think they fixed it then.

That sounds like a fine idea, Dandelion.
Don't pay any attention to Hidden. Running the critters is a fine strategy. We use it frequently when we kill all the fighters in our hunting group. The trouble with the test is that the NW's get right next to Glory, and we all know its a bad idea to raise a fallen next to a critter. Especially someone who trips over their own shoelaces!

Yar! An' too daft t'move away when she's healty, too. 'Mind me again ... WHY are we healin' her, stead o'chainin' 'er back safe t'town?

Well, some of us can't afford chains. At one time, I had planned to learn to chain by now. But then metal got so expensive. Considering how easily chains break, they must be made out of gold. If we get back to iron or copper, I might consider taking up chaining.
But as for Glory - Haven't you noticed how fat she is? She just sits in that room and eats when she isn't giving us tests. When was the last time you saw her walking around town? She is much too big to put a chain around - and you can forget pushing her to town too - I've tried that.

I'll answer this "time limit on tests" question: not long enough... :)

With cloth bracers, I swing 30 times in 30 nonprime secs or 40 primetime secs. When I watch a visionstone of the latter, I swing 50 times in 60 secs.
So the visionstone tempo is 3 1/3 frames/sec, between 3fps primetime and 4fps nonprime. Which explains Coriakin's musical problem.
I have two visionstones of my running out of time on the 2nd circle test (both taken off-peak): 2 min 15 secs. That's 2 min 30 secs primetime or about 1 min 50 secs nonprime.
Taryn.
