Hi! After several weeks of hanging out with all the WoD folks, I'd like to make it official and apply for membership!
Here are my four questions:
1. Why do I want to join?
When I was first exiled, I was very impressed that many people more experienced went out of their way to help me find my way around and learn how to survive here on the island. Then, I heard that I was WoD newbie of the week and that prompted me to look into the clan.
I found that many of the people who had helped me were WoD members, and also that the mission of WoD is to help newbies. I think that's a wonderful mission, and I want in! Besides that, all the members I've met have been great, friendly people, and when I've asked around I've heard from everyone that Winds of Dawn is a fine and respected clan.
OOC, I'm a university professor so the idea of teaching-- newbies or students-- is one I'm very in tune with. I think it's a wonderful thing that Clan Lord has a group dedicated to making new players welcome and showing them the ropes.
2. In what ways do I enjoy helping new exiles?
It would be easier to ask, in what ways don't I? (The answer would be: very few.) I've worked hard to learn as much as I can since I've been here, both by asking questions and by my own explorations, and I like to pass on what I've learned to others. I really enjoy answering questions (it's that professor thing again).
I also like going around town and nearby with newer exiles, so that we can help each other hunt more interesting places than rat towers, and I like exploring more with friends than by myself. I've already made some good friends among newbie exiles, including Qwan and Vermilion and Zaggle and Nerin.
Of course, I'm still pretty new myself and have much to learn. Talking to newcomers, they often have learned things I haven't, so we can trade information which is even better.
3. What do I enjoy doing outside the library?
I enjoy exploring. I'm trying to learn my way around the island, slowly expanding my range of explorations. I like "research" (professor again), looking into the many secrets and mysteries. I'm probably over-eager to imagine signs that the next world-shattering event is about to happen!
And I enjoy group hunts.
4. What do I not enjoy doing?
Falling!
I'm also not too keen on solo hunting, although solo exploration (a subtle difference, I know) is something I do enjoy. I do some solo hunting to challenge myself and find out how I'm growing, but it's not my favorite thing.
I hope you'll accept my application and let me join the Winds of Dawn.
