Slaughter back to dispatch?

Hi.

I had started slaughtering rats but now I'm dispatching them again. Does anyone know if there's been some change in rat strength, or is this just another of my imaginary mysteries? (I'm so suggestible! [:D] )

Therian, rats dinna all have th' same strength, yer probably jest noticin' statistics again. Could be sometimes there's a wave o' stronger rats though, mebbie we better watch out fer a bakery invation. Rats some places might be stronger than rats other places too, but Ah've never noticed. ('less o' course they be named different too.)

All critters do have a range of strength so when you're on the cusp you'll, for example, vanquish the harder ones and kill the weaker ones or dispatch the harder ones and slaughter the weaker ones. Once your slaughter level increases sufficiently, you'll kill or slaughter all of them.

Another possibility is that you took a long study break, and had a lot of ranks stored up. If you have a bunch of unspent ranks, that raises your slaughter level pretty significantly. Once you use up all the stored ranks, you drop back down to your regular slaughter level.

Hm, this could be, since I don't use any of the library NPCs who apply all your exp at once (I use Scribia to keep track of how much I've done, so I need the ranks to show up in my text log).

I don't recall for sure, but it might be I noticed the rat-slaughtering while hanging around a rat tower waiting for the little trumpets to sound every ninety seconds...
