Hi

What's recommended for the 4th circle fighter test?

Way back when, Althus posted the following for the 3rd circle test:
My advice on defense training: Total up your Detha and Balthus messages (messages, not ranks). If the sum total is greater than or equal to 300, then you can brick the rage pretty well. I reccomend that at least half of that should be Detha (hard to find more to teach you).

Here's a bit of strategy for the test:
* Start out hiding behind the SW barracks.
* Find the GV and DV and lure them behind the barracks to kill them.\
* Then get the Zerk. Keep the rage trapped while you do this.
* Once you're ready to face the rage, get to full balance, then face it.
* Let it swing 3x and hit, then run until you're about at 80% balance.
* Let it swing 2x, then hit it and run. Keep this up until it dies

What's the equivalent for the 4th circle test?

What kind of atkus do I need?
What's the combined detha/balthus I should be looking at?

I did some forum searching but only for 3rd circle and 5th circle stuff...

Thanks!

You need about 225-250 atkus for the 4th circle test- since you're a fen lean towards the higher number I think. Basically the key factor in the test is to be able to hit the fury reliably, preferably brick the fury and the greater wraith, and be able to kill the green noid before he kills you (don't have to brick him per-se but it certainly helps :). I don't recall the amount of defense I had when I passed, but you should be able to get a feel from the test as to how you're doing brickwise.

For me, I did the GW first, then the fury, then the noid, who's usually pretty easy to keep away from if you use the blockade properly till you're ready for him. Some folks start with the noid but since he was the last one I bricked I always did him last. For the most efficient killing you want to swing just after the critter does (hopefully you brick them on full balance) and regain your swing quickly enough to swing again by the time he swings again. If you can separate them and repeat the process and hit them reliably, then you'll be home free. For the green noid if you don't brick him well you'll probably want to run him and try not to let him get many swings on you- higher darkus will help you get rid of him before he makes mincemeat out of you, or high histia will help you to last longer before killing him.

thanks kiri! I'm still ages away from it but I was just wondering where I should try and level the stuff to.

I've only got i think maybe 10-15 atkus since passing third so I'm quite a bit away :)

If anyone has an idea of defense numbers (combo of balthus+detha), please share...

thanks

As far as I know, I'm the only one that does the 'Noid first, and only because my sucky fighter can't hit anything else and it's nice to get a high kill/low vanq once a week.

You need about 500 "defense" to brick the fury and GW, and 600-650 for the 'Noid.

ugh - 600?
But that's just for messages, right? Not actual ranks?

I'm not even close :)

I'll be the last clan member to pass 4th like I was almost the last to pass 3rd :)

thanks for the numbers though - something to strive for eventually!

Take heart, you won't be the last: I haven't even passed second yet! [:D]

On a side note-- thanks for the advice on passing second, Kiriel. My last attempt, it got me as far as killing one feral and getting the other down to yellow. So your help made a big difference, and I know I'm close now!
