So, given the current portal locations, I'm wondering how much Histia/Higgy training does it take to leap from the cloud and live? For that matter, how much does it take to jump and not be PND? Some of my friends aren't as obsessive about keeping up with the news as I am, and I'm wondering what advice to give them if they go through the mirror not knowing that there's no easy way off. I'm thinking a rescue is more likely to occur if they jump than if they end up either on KI or in the lava.

All I can tell you is that 200 histia is not enough :)

I've got 300 Histia and it takes me to about 1/4 health so that would mean it does approximately 225 Histia damage, give or take.

Someone told me 150-200 was enough. He was wrong, 200 is not enough. Now I have a new training goal.

On the other hand, I don't think even a FoB Newbie would get to PND from the jump.

OK, thanks all for the information.

I have 100 Bodrus and enough of the Mystic's equivalent of a health trainer and when I leaped I just needed 5 healers who had low amounts of Horus so it's not that bad and there are plenty of people with Horus who'll drag you to to town.

next time I'm out of the library, someone will have to show me how to get the mirror to work!
I went there at it still said "seems impassable".

Do I just have to do it during the day when the cloud is overtop?
How long of a wait is there? How often is this cloud over the mirror?

I have experienced that it is variable.

Fyi, I have jumped and I had still 60% health (still green) for a jump but for another I was 35% health (mid- yellow). My % are certainly not very accurate. I have between 450 and 500 Histia (but I think it is just a little more than 450). Mostly around 50% usually I think (I only jumped 10-15 times, no very accurate for a statistic :-)

You must wait until the Dark cloud is directly overhead of the mirror to pass the first time. After that, you become attned to the mirror and can pass at will. Someone who is attuned can chain others onto the cloud.
The cloud moves every 15 OOC minutes- 1 snell, any direction or diagonal, or stays- but the movement cycle is timed and stable.
exiting is via jumping or one of the 2 portals (enter the mirrors on the cloud) but the portals are risky now.

Thanks for the info...

So does this cloud go all over the place? Or is it only in the area of SF and the mirror? Or does it travel to the brambles, dunes, marsh, etc?

Any idea how often it is actually over the mirror snell?
Will this probably be like an all day camping trip at the mirror?

I hae seen the cloud over the brambles, marsh, south and east forests, and tanglewood. I am sure it has traveled further afield.
It has een over the mirror at least twice, I believe- I wasnt there either time.
It is more than an all day campout- it is an all week one. It is frustrating, especially now that the portals dont work.
There is a large reward- 3450c last I looked, from Paramedic and others for the secret behind the clouds movement. Is it related to the Zodiac? The tide? What Algy is currently playing with?

all week?

I guess I won't be going there anytime soon then :)

If you want to camp, I recommend you sit in the hospital with a macro that checks /sky every 5 minutes and another anti-disconnect feature.
Another safe spot is the hollow tree 1 north of the mirror- and since that has a path to the hollow tree 1s1e of scout, it is easy to get to.

I've studied the equivalent of about 50 lessons with Higgrus, and both times I jumped I was nearly unrecognizable (self-diagnosis).

Of course, you should also take into account there'll probably be rats where you fall.

Taryn.

The portals are currently both in Falinea's Garden, at the time of this post. Compliments of Pogue Mahone.

Halleluia!!! - Pogue Mahone have seen the light! Or is it all some devilish plot yet to unfold... I completely approve of this latest development in the portals' history - since they had been moved, many exiles found it impossible to visit the cloud. Since that was the purpose of the portals in the first place - to provide access, I did not see why that should be limited only to the stronger among us.

p.s. From what I have seen of their attitude so far, the name "Pogue Mahone" is completely apt and thoughroughly well deserved :D

Thank you.

By the way, I did hunt the cloud last night (while the portals were both still off island) with a group. Skydiving off at the end I discovered that with the equivalent of just over 50 ranks of Histia (250 evus, 10 Spirtus) I was mutilated for Phroon.

I have a recurring fantasy....

... that it might be possible to land somewhere skydiving that can't be reached by current known routes. Or maybe any other way.

A much appreciated change in there position. Now we just need some way to nail one end in place.

There is a way- have a fallen get ported. As long as the exile remains fallen, the portal can not be moved.Oh, well, yes, it cant be used either, is that a problem? [:D]

Hidden, the portals have, ever since their original appearance, been linked in some way to the mirror and cloud. You may not agree, but it is my feeling that they were provided for the purpose of getting on/off the cloud. If you have a different view of what they are for, I'd be very interested to hear it. :)

Once upon a time, there were two portals that loved each other very much.....

....and thats where little baby portals come from.

FYI: Please note that the green exit off the cloud is safe, (the purple is not) but the green portal in Falinea's will send you to lava. (However, there is a good chance it will also send you back to Falinea's.)

You've got it backwards. The Cloud is a way to get to the portals. The portals are independant of the cloud, other than the two mirrors on the cloud that send you to them.

Oh yes I'm familiar with that method, when I was trying to move the portal back to the garden from the mystic academy, a mystic entered the portal and fell to a bolok on the other side. Then I and one other person got trapped on the edge of that area by entering the portal. Luckily a gm was online to fix this. Never fall onto a portal it causes massive chaos.

It doesnt take active GM co-operation to fix this, if you fall inside the portals "cloud" you will continually be teleported from one end to the other until somebody pulls you out when they move to the other end the next person in the queue should move forward, and it is sometimes possable to break out of the portals queue, if you are waiting close enough to the edge of a snell to cross you will break free by doing so

Of mostly historical interest only, when the sf-mirror first re-opened, entering one of the green/purple mirrors led to a small fenced area of farmland, never before seen, precise location unknown.(had an official name of " an area of farmland" or something like that.)
There was a white fluffy cloud there, and the 2 teleport blobs. The only way to exit this area was by falling through the cloud. Eventually someone lured the teleport blobs through the cloud, and this is how they came into the lands that we know.
Jumping through this cloud had the same effect as skydiving.

As far as i can tell, the cloud has the same movement options and restrictions as exiles when changing snells. Like exiles its therefore prone to getting "lost in the marsh" or tanglewoods. It also wont i think pass over solid barriers (so wont drift into the valley for example) Currently its in the sav. One can now tell where it is once ON the cloud, by getting close to the edge and "peering over"...just stand close enough and you get a msg saying "you see the sav far below" or somesuch. Of course get a bit a closer still and you can also find out by skydiving [:D]
