OOC: Having a sunstone makes Clan Lord an infintely more entertaining game. I am glad you have one now!
IC: Way to go Nunul! Speaking of this subject..does Sargon have one?

Hi
Congrats Nunul! Hope you won't get too distracted from all the voices in your head though! :)
Lilly: No I don't have one yet, but since I'm a new member and also quite new in the lands I have enough time to wait a bit.
I think it would be a good idea to let the money-pool grow a bit so we have money when chains break, worn sunstones have to be tuned (is that the word?) etc.

-Sargon

Oh, don't worry about the Treasury. We've got the healthy sum of 425c to our names! <g>
While that isn't exactly a princely sum, once repayments are made, we have over four thousand coins in our coffers. Admittedly, this will take a while to recover, however, it is money that is assured to us.
If contributions keep up at their old rate, we should have a Sunstone ready for you in a few weeks.
No sense hoarding for the future when we have immediate needs.

Hi
I feel uneasy about this. I think I should save at least half the money needed for an SS before involving the clan. It's how I feel - can't change that... I hope you respect my feelings here.
Maybe we could support Chris with something even if he's not interested in joining our clan. His project is wonderful and I'm sure he could use some support.
Regards,
-Sargon
PS. Have a nice weekend!

Sargon, it's my opinion that healers deserve whatever help is available in acquiring sunstones as soon as possible. For a fighter a sunstone is a luxury, but for a healer it is a criticial item that makes rescues tremendously more effective. I hope that you won't hold off on getting one just because of a sense of concern about funding it yourself- you can always repay the clan later, and in the meantime you'll be able to do your job better.
When my healer char first started saving up for her sunstone she got a lot of donation offers. At first she was uncomfortable accepting them, but she came to realize soon that her lack of a sunstone was keeping her from being as effective a healer as she really could be, and that those donations for her sunstone were not just benefiting her, but also all the people around her who would benefit from her healing services. She started accepting the donations, got the sunstone much sooner, and really was able to make a lot more of a difference once she acquired it. So although it seems uncomfortable, remember that it's not just you who benefits when you have a sunstone.
I would definitely like to help Chris with his project regardless of his interest in the clan. I actually already gave him one short sword, and as soon as I pay back my loan from the clan fund I'll be sure to fund some more. I think the clan might also be able to help him get the word out to more people and perhaps in other ways as well.

I agree with Sargon. Something earned is much more precious than something given. The Treasury does force the member to earn the Sunstone in the end by repaying the cost, but there is still something personal about having earned it on your own. On the flip side, there's a sense of community in having your friends get one for you.
As far as supplying short swords and daggers, the Treasury will authorize purchases of these items. Want to say 3 short swords for now, and as many daggers as we can get?
And we should absolutely join with Chris in his program, and expand it in anyway possible (and not try to take his work away from him, that'd be mean).

Sorry Sargon. I realize I may have sounded pushy in my statement. I didn't mean to imply that you should definitely put aside your feelings and get a sunstone early. That's up to you clearly and what you feel is right. I just wanted to remind you that it really is a community benefit and therefore you shouldn't feel guilty if you decide to accept help to get it faster.

Hmmm... how to put this plainly...
\action has smoke coming out of his ears
Since recieving my SS, and listening quite a bit, I have to agree to some extent with both Sargon and Kiriel. Most of the posts are for rescues by a healer. As a fighter, I can do nothing more than push the fallen and kill the rats/carrion birds. A chain would help me rescue fallens considerably. At this point I have 2 options...train in mentus so my SS doesn't explode on me, or train in loovma so that a chain wouldn't break on me. Until I train enough at both...I am not much of a paramedic.
IF however, I WAS a healer...(Cradlesong is eying my SS enviously), I could have an emidiate impact on the injured/fallen.
If I can make a suggestion...
Konoko has funded the treasury quite a bit on her own. What if when we have the funds, we get her a spankin new one, and give the worn one to Sargon. Then, we would only have to get enough money to tune the worn one up.
By the by Aerick, Cradlesong asked me to have you mark his donations toward the balance of my SS. 8)

FYI, tuning a worn sunstone is almost as expensive as buying a new one. Very annoying really. Also, I have had a sunstone for 6 months and it has only worn down one level. They really last a decently long time if you don't overuse them (I'm not even really that careful with mine).
I will say also that I am glad to see so many fighters with sunstones. When my healer is trying to help people she often sunstones for fighter backup- she's often not strong enough to heal people without someone to clear the critters from the snell or at least run them off.

Kiriel, can you handle the budget correction? And that SS better not get thieved by yon Cradlesong.
\action looks as menacing a scrawny Sylvan healer can
I really think it's simpler to just get new ones as we need them, and tune up old ones as they burn out. By the time any SS's start wearing out, we should have enough cash on hand to tune them up. So just keep sending your money in, keep sending your money in, keep <continous hypnotic drone>

I had exactly the same feeling as sargon when i was working on getting my sunstone. It gives one a very fuzzy feeling kwning they had saved up for something big and important like that (though in the end I did take some loans out, because spriggins and darshak stole 800 coins from me)

On the matter of sunstone tuning:
If the "worn one" is still in it's original condition, it should be just as good as new. If it's worn one level, it would cost 500c to tune, and if it's two, it'd cost a mere 1000c.
