View Full Version : Field Hospitals?

I just realized (from Konoko's reference to it in another post) that I haven't seen the ThoomCare field hospitals staffed in a long time. Has anyone else noticed this, or have I just been oblivious?

The field hospitals seem to be staffed often in the afternoons, but rarely late at night. Which makes sense since there's a lot less people at night.

Another issue is that the field hospitals aren't as much fun to work in if there aren't people hunting in the area. Of late, south forest has been pretty empty of people, so that hospital isn't really as compelling to work in. NWF is more busy, but healers need PF to get in there, so a smaller group is able to work there.

I think the lack of hunters in south forest is partially due to a low creature volume of late combined with a lot of new areas opening up that attract exiles, and the NWF area which is much more attractive to groups strong enough to hunt there because of the larger and more frequent spawns.

It would be nice if our clan made an effort to help out in the hospitals more often in order to increase their staffing frequency. I believe the ThoomCare hospitals provide a valuable service and I'd like to do what I can to support them.

I agree wholeheartedly with you. My main problem is sitting quietly waiting for people who need healing.

ooc: Leaving me there until someone 'pulls' to make a noise doesn't quite work, as the other background sounds distract me from whatever I might be doing. Any ideas for here? If desperate enough, I could script myself like Algernon was so people could direct me (but that leads to certain abuses =) and I find scripting sketchy at best.

Personally, when my healer is working there I watch TV. Of course this only works if your computer and TV are in the same room. I generally just make a point of glancing at the screen periodically in case I miss something. But I do occasionally miss people because of it.

When I work on my computer while I'm working in the hospital I leave the text log poking out in such a way that I can see whenever text appears. So if someone says something I generally notice it.

It would be nice if there was a command whose purpose was specifically to get the attention of someone who is distracted. Of course this could be easily abused so it would probably have to be disableable. But if done right this could cause messages to pop up in the Finder the same way as sunstone messages do when you're not in CL and also make a distinctive noise.

Good call.

I bet one could write a macro that could do it. Not a CL macro, maybe Applescript or OneClick? I think I have a possible work-around, though.

Set 'notify when friends thinkto you.'
Befriend yourself.
Set a macro that, when someone says it, has you Sunstone yourself, which will notify you.

Cradlesong is making an effort to staff the hospital in the South Forest between the hours of 7AM and 4PM EST Monday thru Friday. There are rare visits by hunters, but he has found it quite profitable due to donations by thankful hunters. He is saving for his own SS (it is awful quiet there without one).

(OOC: while in hospital, it must be noted that Cradlesong's alter ego is at work and may not notice cries for help if he is printing out documents or is AFK)

I am often in South Forest field hospital during late afternoons and early evenings, but, like Cradlesong, often AFK.

I am also a ThoomCare (lil tm thingy here) Affiliate. Of course, i'm trapped in the library at the moment. Would the /affiliations thing show that?

The ThoomCare affiliation got created around the time you retired to the library for an extended period of time. If you haven't been added to the affiliates list by Paramedic, you'll probably have to ask him to do that so it'll show up in your /affiliations list. You have to be present for him to do that I think.
