To all the folks back home,
Woke up in the library the other day... was so covered with dust that I'd been mistaken for a piece of statuary. The surprise on my face was only barely equaled by that of the library patron who -- at that precise moment -- had elected to use me for a hat-rack.
One of the problems with being statuary for most of 4 years is that you forget the little things. Like walking in a straight line. I find myself walking into things with great frequency.
I remember a few healer-ish things by muscle memory and Makros prayers... but the vast array of abilities I once demonstrated seem to have vanished. Well, I guess they're still sort of there in the form of Makros scrolls.... gonna take a while to rebuild my memories of what they were all for.
There is a call out in the town for someone with high pathfinding... I did have some of that ... I vaguely remember fighting for my life in a cave full of noids to get to a Training Book. Wonder how far I progressed?
A few people are around that I recognize...
Oh my! Altir is out and about! One of my oldest friends in this place. [:)]
Huzzah.... this won't be so bad as long as a few former and current Windies are still blowing around the landscape.
I'm gonna try to make it back out again next Thursday, at the old Winds of Dawn meeting time. Maybe some other people will woosh by.
Sincerely,
Blaise
ps - As is my tradition, I did what I always do when I return to Town after a long absence...
1. I went to the Jail, and tried to convince Joe to escape. No luck. I had to stop baking files into his cakes because I suspected he was swallowing them.
2. I went to Gaia's Temple and Garden, and once again beseeched her to allow me to visit her Shrine. Again, no luck. It's been at least nine years, I think, that I've been working on that. Well, rejection is character-building, or so they say.

Hi Blaise--
I'll keep an eye out if I'm out of the library, though that is a very rare occasion these days.

Excellent! BAT-S could ride again, if we can just find a new "S"...
I don't really have any spare time these days... but still... I'm going to try make it out of the Library on Thursdays (i.e. traditional Clan Meeting time) and see if I can expand from there.

Hi Folks!
Well, Altir promised me a whirlwind sightseeing trip -- with falling! -- and boy did he deliver.
Made it out of the Library a few minutes before the weekly WoD Clan Meeting (OOC: Thursday 7 Pacific, if you don't keep up with such...). Tried once again to rescue Glory, but I seem to have totally lost the knack for raising someone while being gnawed on by Noids. Was embarrassing, but thankfully the visionstone had a little accident while I was climbing to my feet.
Altir arrived, and we set about finding someplace to go fall. Stonehand and Mordred Maerii were kind enough to come fall with us. We used a sparkly portal (I'd forgotten about those) to pop all the way out in the Foothills. Place looked familiar, but not enough that I had a hope of finding my back if I got lost.
Passed thru a cave, and then popped out into the biggest troop of Midnight Wendeckas I had ever seen. I was fallen long before the chat window could catch up. I could only look up at the stars and let the nostalgia wash over me.
Rescuers quickly appeared and made short work of the Wendies. Sorry I didn't get all the names, but I'm pretty sure Natas was there, and Connie Crete.
Not sure quite how to follow that up, Altir and I set out for MI, which was surprisingly clear of critters. I was surprisingly able to still maneuver a small boat around sea monsters.
Some huge changes on TI... I hardly recognized the place, what with the zoo and the rides. Very strange. The guards didn't even try and kill me!
Oh yeah... Altir also showed me the Alliance Castle... It's complete! REALLY!! Who'd have thought? Got into some vaguely familiar passages underneath Puddleby.. even recognized a tunnel I once helped WorldWalker map, back in the day.
Best wishes to everybody who is still off in the lands... I'll look forward to checking in again next week.
Yours,
Blaise
What fun!

Dear Folks,
It's been said before, but stands repeating: Old spells will get you in trouble.
I started this week's visit in Puddleby with a joyful heart. I had spent a couple of hours playing with old Makros spells, trying to regain my understanding of what they did, so that I could do things like chain people without falling next to them.
I just made one leeetle teensy change... switched out an old healing Makros scroll for a fancier one penned by Slyph.
Let's just say it made for an interesting evening. When I appeared in the library, I found myself frozen! (PWC's mouse no longer controlled movement) Oops! There was a note about self-healing being activated by touching the ground... that must have been part of it.
I got movement back after some work. It wasn't the way it was before, though, as many spells were invoked by accident. Except the Mama Bear thing.
Sightseeing-wise, no Windies were on, but I got to hang out at the Coliseum with K'vynn and heal people I could manage to collide with when I had my moonstone equipped.
Spent a little time playing 'King of the Hill' in the sporting area... that was interesting.
Well, back to transcribing scrolls!
Best wishes....

Just spent a few hours in the lands...
Got my healing makros working more or less, and then got an invite from Ebony to join a hunt over GI way. Was quite exciting! Delirium was there! Several noted that I didn't have "purple sparkles", and explained that there were new area healing technologies that had been discovered. Apparently it requires a purple rock.
I went and spoke to Lorikeet, who generously set me up with what was required for a "Purple Rock on a Stick", i.e. an Asklepian Staff.
It's CoooOOoool!
I decided to follow Lori on a rescue call to the DT... figuring it'd be a good chance to test it!
... oops! forgot to adjust the spanking new makros to match the new stuff!
Oh well... moonstones still work.
We all made it back happily ever after....
The End!
Blaise
ps - Thanks Lorikeet and Everybuddy!

Went a-hunting with FB again... was a lot of fun. Having a lot fewer walking and chewing gum problems, and mostly doing the healing thing a little better.
Area healing is cool!
Didn't realize my chain makros no longer worked until I needed it in a desperate situation... very odd behavior for such a simple spell. Despite K'vynn's help, I still didn't get it working right... my few chaining attempts I did the old-fashioned way.
A little disappointed that I was unable to survive the Noids long enough to heal Glory in the Circle Test. Brute healing power cannot overcome lame (or rusty anyway) tactics.
Hope all is well back home. I look forward to seeing everybody soon.

Howdy,
Sorry I haven't written much this month. No time in RL, but I have sprinted out of the library each week to see if there are any Windies at the Thursday meeting, and to keep taking the 5th Circle Test.
Speaking of.... I'm starting to feel a little inept. More-so than usual. I tried brute-force healing Glory to little avail, and tried kiting the noids (to less avail). One attempt to do it Deli-style (kill 'em) left me face-planted.
So... last time I tried to remember the old dance-steps.... waltz in, heal Glory, keep my balance, heal myself, waltz out.
Something like that.
Or maybe I'm just doing "The Hustle".
(After I beat this test, I'm thinking I'll kidnap Glory and drop her in the Pitch Caves. She needs some real-world experience.)
