Blowing it Up Contest in Progress

The Blowing it Up contest is now in progress and will continue until noon pacific tomorrow. There are four teams participating:

Pas D'Flouze: Archemar and Farhope
Team BackRest: Konoko, Delirium, Amelia and Connie Crete
Wandering Irrepressibles: Wheatstone, Meander, Vermillion and Poesy
da STABing BATs: Blaise, Altir, Therian and Steady Foot

Current standings 2 hours after the competition start are:

I don't know if everyone's heard, but Team BackRest took a break from trying to do well in the contest to help out one of the other teams who had "fallen" into some bad luck.

We made many sacrifices to help out da STABing BATs. We've got to get some kind of best sportsmanship award or something for all this stuff!

Regarding prizes for the competition, here's what they were last year:

1000c for each member of the first place team, 500c for each member of the second place team, and 250c for each member of the third place team.

I think we'll probably use the same prizes assuming we get enough funds from the contest that it doesn't make too huge a dent in the Newbielympics fund. If that amount comes out to more than 50% of the total funds raised, we may need to re-evaluate, will see what happens tomorrow when all the funds are in.

The library team got all of its members out! Amelia and Deli both joined Connie and I this morning! There's another awrad for us - got lib people out!

The contest is complete. Final results are as follows:

1st: da STABing BATs - Blaise, Altir, Therian and Steady Foot (prize was 1k per member) - total was 6710c
2nd: Team BackRest - Konoko, Delirium, Amelia and Connie Crete (prize was 500c per member) - total was 5064c
3rd: Pas D'Flouze - Archemar, Farhope and Tomair (prize was 250c per member) - total was 3041c
4th: Wandering Irrepressibles - Wheatstone, Meander, Vermilion and Poesy (prize was 100c per member) - total was 2860c

Total amount raised before prizes was 17,675c

Wheatstone, Poesy and Meander gave their prize money back to the Newbielympics pool, so the total funds raised for the Newbielympics is 10,825c.

I deposited the money for Konoko and Steady Foot's prizes in the clan account for now, can withdraw later as needed.

It was a fun contest! My 2nd fav one I think. My fav being the first one where my team won. Or should I say destroyed the competition? :)


This year had another close race! Very close between 3rd and 4th! And even if Altir paid us that 1000 coins, they still woulda won. So they deserve it! Although we did bail them out way too many times I think :)

oh - did anyone get a visionstone or text log of the end ceremonies? Did you get a chance to Kiri?


I'm actually surprised the library team did so well. Connie is definitely a great skinner. She was a machine! I'm glad I was able to join in for most of it. Connie got us to lots of places with a couple I've never even been to or only a few times. Lots of vanqs were to be found with her! :)

What would have made it an even better day is if I had passed my 4th circle test. I had the last monster (green noid) down to what had to be 1 hit. But it got me. Hopefully next time. I lucked out - the monsters were lining up quite nicely for me :)

Well, I have to admit we had a lot of fun. I was only able to peek out for about 2 hours OOC. That's when it all happened! Berry, uli and the famous Team Backrest Snaggy rescue of BT & S with A tagging along in the red. It was a great ending to wonderful hunt!

As far as the prize money goes, it really belongs to C, B, T & A. If some how it could be split between the four of them I would appreciate it! They did most of the work!!

Didn't see my fellow refs the entire time but I'm not terribly surprised. I know Mehan was out of town. But things went smoothly and everyone did great!

I was surprised I did as well as that. I guess it means it's time soon! I figured I'd be 3rd for a while yet. I bet I've jinxed myself now :)
The Orga was pretty easy - but took a while. Hopefully next time they line up well again and don't start popping around the barriers and stuff. That can make things difficult and they sneak in free hits :)

Just watched the visionstone - thanks Kiri.
After all those rescues BackRest did for the winning team (Cloud, Snaggy, countless others), they're going to have to treat Team BackRest really well next time when the stabbing bats are organising the contest! :)

Thanks Konoko! And I think the songs also keep playing if you're listening to a bard and you log off. Probably shouldn't be that way, but it means you can go to sleep in the library listening to your favorite bard music! [:D]
