12/8/00 2:00:24p Thuja says, "12/3/00 4:02:41a Tenebrion thinks, "I assume all notion of a treaty has been discarded. I will deal with individual clans only now.""
I'd like to get some feedback on this topic as I'm sure we all have an opinion.
I also saw a post on the newsgroups from Indigo which stated that Tenebrion had a falling out with many of his guards. A few exiles helped fend them off and spoke with Tenebrion himself.
After the vermine newbie hunt (I would like to complete that as it is a priority), how would everyone feel if we were to go to the keep to introduce ourselves and our clan?
It could be an embassy/investigation/hunt(hopefully it won't come to a battle tho).
Again, I will not be in the lands this coming weekend, but wish it to be a topic of discussion in the meeting.

Wow. I've started this message four times now, and changed my mind part way through each time.
I have never had an honest chat with Tenebrion. I've only been around with a herd of exiles being beligerent. I think that I could definitely go for an agreement of friendliness towards the man, until he proves himself problematic.

Not to be a ray of negativity or anything, but do we have the juice as a clan to fight our way through to Tenebrion?
Just asking...

No need to fight through to him. Cradlesong met him as he appeared on the ramparts of his keep. He spoke to Tenebrion from outside the walls of the keep. When Tenebrion wishes to speak...he appears.

I am revising my opinion to "Don't like, but willing to negotiate"

Tenebrion has a room in his keep called "the freezer", and a man named "Mort" walks around in it. Mort says some random things, most concerning of which is "my master does not need people, only their parts". He looks suspiciously like the same "Mort" that sells the rancid berries that kill exiles in the farmers hut on the north part of town. The Mort there mentions getting a BIG bonus for selling the rancid berries to exiles. A big bonus from whom, I wonder? <glances in the direction of Tenebrion's keep> I have conversed with all of my "parts" and they are unanimous in deciding they do not want to end up in Tenebrion's freezer. I suggest pushing his boat off of the dock with nobody in it, and letting the current sweep him away from us for good.

Wait! Don't be so hasty! Hanging out in a freezer could be fun! :)
ooc: It'd probably be warmer than it is now here. It's COLD here!
As for Tenebrion, I'm for us talking with him and see what he has to say...

I feel at this point it is crucial to come to a clanwide agreement in respects to how we are to treat Tenebrion. If we were to act individually one way or another towards him, it may undermine an embassador goal. If Tenebrion has made it clear to deal with Puddleby on a clan by clan basis, we should act as a clan. Of course, nothing short of a clan wide agreement would work. I am not pushing the idea of developing trade or anything as huggy kissy with him, but more of a truce where our clan might perhaps walk freely in his lands. We should also make our intentions known to like minded clans.
Lots to think about.

Konoko,
I went as far as to ask Tyking II if in the future Tenebrion may accept audience with the WoD. Tyking said that whenever we come up with a date and time that is agreeable to the clan to let him know and he will set something up.
I told him that the clan was still discussing the issue.
I would propose that if we choose to meet with him, that we do it at a neutral location. For example, the empty hut on north beach of Fire Isle or, maybe in the safe area of the arena.
Does anyone know of a place (besides court) that it is impossible to equip weapons? I don't think Tenebrion would feel comfortable putting himself at risk by entering Puddleby to speak with us.
Also, does anyone know of this clan that supposedly met with Tenebrion and came to an agreement?

Thanks Nunul!
Hopefully we as a clan can get a common view and then meet with Tenebrion...

Even if we were to send a small group to see Tenebrion and just introduce ourselves and the clan, it would be a start. No need to get into any details about pacts or agreements just yet. I feel it would be good just to get our clans name in his mind...as to strike when the iron is hot.

I think it may well irritate Tenebrion if we initiate meaningless talks with him. He's had a whole lot of people talk to him without them intending to accomplish anything right there, and I'm not sure how far his patience stretches. If we can have a substantial portion of the clan present, we can whisper amongst ourselves enough to come to an almost decision, which is something to bear in mind.
I think it would be best for us to talk to him to gather information before we make any concrete decision, as we have little to no first hand information from Tenebrion. I think we should find out what he is willing to offer us, and at what cost.
So, my vote is to have a meeting with him, and try to reach a decision at that meeting.

I would not be opposed to a meeting with him. But I defintely would not be inclined to take anything he says at face value. His secretive nature goes beyond a mere desire for privacy, in my opinion. If privacy was all he wanted, he would not keep contacting Puddleby.

I didn't think a whole lot about this Tenebrion issue so far. I'm only interested in healing others and have peace with everyone. :)
I've never attacked anything in his lands (except for rats nibbling on fallens) but got attacked in return. My only plan when I visited his land was to heal others. One might add that this is also fighting against Tenebrion, since I'm healing people who attack his guards. But hey! I'd be more than happy to heal the guards too! It's just that I can't heal them with my moonstone for some reason.
After that treaty is over (can't be a treaty with me.. for a treaty needs 2 'fighting' parties) he now decides that he wants to deal with the individual clans - which of course ignores the many clanless people.
An agreement usually means that the 2 parties involved "do" something for the other. Sure there is something Tenebrion could do for me.. like telling his guards not to attack me. But that's all I can see. I surely don't want a weapon to crush others.. (weapons seem to be his main (or only) offerings so far) And what could I give him? I don't see anything.. I don't have a pendant and don't fight his guards. What's left he could be interested in?
And usually I don't like dealing with people who don't clearly state what their real goal is. Tenebrion failed to do so. If he didn't change drastically lately, I don't want to have to do anything with him. *helps Lilly pushing the boat off of the dock* [Yes I know the boat is no longer needed. :)]

Another question.. if we should meet with Tenebrion. What kind of meeting do we expect? Is the clan expected to ask questions and Tenebrion just answers or more the opposite way? Prolly a dialogue, I guess. :) What kind of questions are we supposed to ask? What I mean.. each conversation should have a topic. :)
What do we expect as a clan from such a meeting? Peace? (Yes yes!!! :) Darn swords? (blaeh! :) Yes, maybe we can whisper among us during the meeting without him hearing the whispers (as if... :), but I still think we need a general direction. :)
Are there already other clans who had a meeting with him? Which ones? Do have have an idea how it went? Am I asking too many questions? Are you still reading?

Does anyone have any questions? Anyone?
Anyone?
Anyone?
Beuler?
Young Sargon, these are all questions I hope we can iron out in the upcoming meetings. It may take a while to develop an adjenda. However, as I mentioned previously (taking into account Tenebrion's impatience) we may want to go to him with a scaled-down "here we are as a clan, and here we will do or do not do until further talks happen" introductory meeting. I see no harm in starting slowly with an exchange just to introduce ourselves and state that until further, more in-depth talks can be arranged, we will have a "don't kill us-we wont kill you" agreement. Tenebrion has stated that outside of the poppy fields and his keep, he has no problem with exiles hunting.
Which brings an idea to mind...
Mayhaps, we can enquire from Tenebrion as to any critters he feels threatened by (besides exiles) that he may appreciate...clearing...from the island.

A quick conversation from 1-8-01. it ended rather abruptly making me think it may have continued privately, but i dont have proof of that.
Callia thinks, "I sense you probing my spirit, what is it you want?"
WormTounge thinks, "So you dont want pendants anymore Tenebrion? =0"
Tenebrion thinks, "It is entirely your choice whether you want my help in determining the threat to purgatory or not."
Callia thinks, "I want to know for what purpose you feel the need to Probe my spirit."
Tenebrion thinks, "There is a ceremony which can be performed before dawn on a new moon day."
Raldin thinks, "what does it involve? and to what end?"
Raldin thinks, "do you participate in the ceremony? , can u do the ceremony with out us?"
Tenebrion thinks, "Give and take, Raldin, give and take."
Callia thinks, "yes.. and how does it relate to the probing that both Raldin and I felt"
Raldin thinks, "why bring this to us?"
thats where it stopped. a few hours earlier Tenebrion had also mentioned a short excerpt from a book, that hinted that the ancients have something to do with the destruction of purgatory. i didnt think to copy it in time though =(
