Helo folks,

some days ago, under greatfull leadership of Shakymuny almost all exile (including algernon) in land manage to take and hold valley.
despite some nasty backspawn, we manage to hold all snells of valley.
Neddless to say we break some chain (following an old valley tradition), yet I manage to break some of my old records, I skinn both cougar and panther up to 81c apiece (previous was 74 and 67).

I was wondering before all take (took ?) boat to Wonderland of Wonderfull, if we could make a 'classic' (un-portaled) raid to Kismia Island ?
Despite my few yers in land I never managed to make a raid there.
as Dark power seems to have overcome sentinel reply hee (either private message or in this thread), I was thinking about 3 am on Fordi, day 48 of Autumn, 556 (http://www.windsofdawn.org/suntimes.html).
anyway other day might do it fine.

(on a side note I will share whatever skinn/dentistry I could make ...)

Er, assuming i've done the maths right, that appears to be bang in the middle of a PAG expedition, which i've already said i'd attend. So although i'll be in the lands, i fear i won't be free to join a trip to KI at that time. [:(]

hello again,

Well, in that case, since Valley most likely have no chance against PAG, that's leave me few options, I'll post later for alternatives.

Thanks rince to remind me [:(]

OK, as your somewhat-lame-as-of-late hunt coordinator, I suggest we try for a KI hunt after our next clan meeting. We would need a good turn-out. Also, there is the issue of necklaces: you need one if you don't want to get Lyfed.

Hmmm.... I just checked sunrise/sunset and the ooc sunrise time is 12:07 PST - 7 min after our clan meeting is to start. Would folks be willing to have the hunt first and postpone the meeting until after the hunt? That way, if everyone shows up on time, we can enter KI just as the sun rises. It would actually be good if folks tried to show up a bit earlier if we plan to do this.

That works for me! I think I still have one spare necklace if someone isn't borrowing it. Folks who don't have necklaces should see if they can borrow one from someone for the trip.

Since the portal can't be placed on KI anymore does that mean we'll be going through the trees and then the north side? If that's the case we'd all need the barrel of tar and a log of wood in addition to the necklace. I really haven't been exploring the forests lately but I haven't seen a log of wood in ages.

Anyway, is this your plan?

hello,

after meeting sounds good, I do have a necklace, so all folks willing to go should come to meeting ...
Himi my plan was 'portal-less hunt' ...

To be clear:

Given the sunrise/sunset times, it is my proposal to have the clan hunt FIRST, starting at the regular clan meeting time, and postpone the clan meeting until after the hunt. If we do this, it is important that everyone be there BEFORE 12:00 PST, to make best use of the daylight. I'd plan on leaving the docks at 12:00PST sharp to clear the waters and see what the entry looks like. Then we can enter at the moment the sun peeps up and the Lyfe revert to their slightly less deadly cat-form. And yes, the plan is for a full KI run. As Himi points out, everyone will need:

2 logs of wood
a barrel (empty or filled with tar)
also, a catsbane necklace is STRONGLY reccommended

I don't have any of these things so I'll be sitting that meeting out. I believe you're talking about the January 2nd meeting so someone should write the meeting minutes for that day.

Azriel posted a more accurate map of northern KI which may prove useful to you.

Which day? Our next meeting is Sunday Dec. 19th, not January 2nd. I think I could be there, I have two logs of wood and a barrel, but no necklace. [:(] But that's ok! Perhaps I would enjoy being a Lyfe. [:D]

I have no wood, no barrel and no necklace. If I can manage to find these things in time, I'm game for anything.

Which Clan Meeting is this going to be? Next one, or January 2?

The times I posted are for the NEXT meeting, which is Sunday Dec 19th. I myself have a necklace, but I'll also need to get wood & a barrel. I'm not sure I'll have much time in the lands between now and this Sunday, but I'd suggest that anyone who is in the lands try to buy as much wood and as many barrels as possible. I can cover some of the costs, if needed. It is not absolutely essential that everyone have 2 logs because wood falls off trees farily frequently on KI - I seem to recall the groups I've been with finding 2-4 logs per KI trip. Also, healers with a pendant don't have to have logs and a barrel.

I got 2 logs and a barrel last night, so I'm ready to roll, except the barrel needs to be emptied first - I hope people will be willing to help me with that on Sunday.

lei'tarr clanners,

speaking of it, how can one get "late tarr" ? (sorry can't help), provided you can get some in main island ..

Exactly! It would be positively anti-social not to share the contents of the barrel.

Well, Sunday's hunt put me up to depart #10. Not very many departs for 15 puddle years of exile, but not the best way to end a hunt. I think everyone deserves a pat on the back for doing so well. The entry to the island was nasty, but we managed to recover. That messy entry cost us time later. The sun set while we were still getting people to their trees. We managed to hold our own, even after sunset, and got everyone to their trees. However, that was at about the 3 hour mark into the hunt, so many people were getting anxious about the time. We only had a the few snells to go to the exit, but those snells were populated by a very large number of Lyfe. We were able to make progress, 1 snell at a time, and, if we had continued slowly, taking one snell at a time, we could have probably made it out on our feet. However, at about the four hour mark into the hunt, many people were simply out of time, so we made a run for the exit. Nearly everyone, including all the healers in the party, fell in the last snell. It was so thick with lyfe, I could barely move and I took just a few too many hits trying to dodge around lyfe. Some folks were talking about waiting for a rescue, but I, like many others in the group, was out of time, so I took the short way home. Did anyone wait for the rescue?

Honestly, I think we did a good job - people forted up well when things got rough, we lured when needed, and did a good surround and pound for things that needed to die quick. Our tactics were generally good. What we lacked was time. As Kiriel noted, if we had had one more strong healer and one more strong fighter, we could have moved faster. If we had seccured the entry snell faster, we also would have had more time before sunset. I underestimated the time it would take us to do the KI run. I suggest that next time we try, we do so in a season with more daylight. I thought we could do the full run in about 2 hours, but I think it would take 3 hours of daylight to do it with the group we had. Despite the depart, I enjoyed the hunt. It was a challange right at the edge of our groups abilities.

It was fun to have a good hunt with everyone, got frustrating towards the end, but I was quite impressed with how well we did under the circumstances. KI is worse than I remember when I used to go regularly, so I don't think we could really have known it would be that bad. I'd also forgotten how bad the south beach entry is now, that definitely didn't help matters. I believe that if we'd had unlimited time we'd have gotten off eventually, but it just wasn't likely to happen given everyone was running out of time. In restrospect we should have EPed off, I'd completely forgotten that was an option, Connie mentioned it earlier, but by the time we were hugely rushed it completely slipped my mind. Given how bad the exit was, that would have probably worked better.

We so rarely do the big tough hunts, I don't mind a depart on occasion for that sort of thing, and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves!

Garr was the last one standing, but fell trying to chain fallens back to the raft hut. I think Arod started trying to gather a rescue party, but couldn't gather enough people, so had to abandon the idea. As it seemed very unlikely a rescue was going to be possible without an extremely long wait, i think everyone departed.

hello folks,

It seems we make too many mistkaes,

Raid was annouced on a too short notice,
Raid was same time as a PAG raid (as Rince pointed out),
We didn't have time to give proper instructions to 'KI-newbies',
We lost some time gathering wood and Barrel,
Autumn day are quiet short .

I still do think KI is doable, next time we will use more care.
In the end, when we were 3 snells away, clearly lack of strong fighter/healer hindered us too much.
It is a pity we didn't coordinate with OH folks at least (which I have heard early on on north KI water).

as a special note to some :
don't wow (sorry can't help again) never to go to KI again!!

It was great fun, and I wish I could have stayed all the way to the end. I don't mind a depart on occasion myself (my total's 18 already, so you can see I'm not all that stuffy about them), and if a depart's the price for a rousing good time, that's okay by me!

I'd like to see us do this kind of tough hunt more often, the difficulty is what makes it fun!
