I think that it will be better if we will be in an office for a limited time. For example 1 or 2 years (ic). And yes, we will have elections but I think it will not necessary be a bad thing. I am not afraid about the "campaign problem", I think that people will not "fight" to have an office. Any thoughts?

I was thinking that it might be best to have a sort of official office rotation schedule, where every 1 or 2 ic years, we ask everyone who might be interested in taking on an office role they don't currently hold to say so, and ask those who are in offices to consider whether they might want to try a different one or to step down for a bit and let someone else try the reins. That way it would be a little less like an election and more like a passing the torch affair. I would also suggest that those interested in an office role approach the current officer ahead of time and talk to them about it, and see if perhaps they could apprentice to get a feel for the post if the officer doesn't mind.

I was waiting to suggest this until we had a few more new members since I think it would be nice to give the newer members a chance at the offices, but it has been an ic year since the clan was formed and maybe now would be a good time.

I am not sure how many IC months weve been around...does anybody know? It sounds like we are up to electing some new positions anyhow, with possibly breaking up the hunt coordinator position, and making the librarian an official position (if we hadnt done that already). Perhaps we should just hold reelections along with these? Weve got enough new members that giving them the option at a governmental position seems sensible. Hi Althus! I believe there are approximately 4 ic months for every 1 ooc month. We founded the clan on October 1st (I had November 11th on the history page for some odd reason, I fixed that), so that means it's been about 4 ooc months since the founding, approximately 1 1/3 ic years.

Looking at Puddlewatch, October 1st, 2000 was Day 60 of Spring 539 and today is Day 50 of Autumn 540.

Well we're only a few weeks away from the 6 month mark, so it would seem now is the time for us to have elections, and perhaps have everyone take their new offices on April 1st?

I think we should look at all the offices we currently have and determine which ones might be worth breaking up into multiple pieces or if there's any new ones we should add, now that we have 18 members and seem to be growing so quickly. For instance, I'd like to break the reporter part of my role off into a separate office, and perhaps historian should be added as well.

Everyone please post their suggestions on this and let's try to get a new official office list in place by 3/16, then we can have everyone submit which offices they'd like to apply for by 3/23 and have all the votes in by 3/30? This is just a suggested timeframe, but I'm hoping to get the ball rolling. I suggest that if he's willing, GrayGradi should coordinate this process, or appoint someone else to be our temporary clan office election organizer.

I'd think Historian would go along with Librarian. I'm still working on the Library site, but I hope to have it up "soon."

1) ok with the principe of "elections"
2) ok with Gray coordinating this (if possible for him)
3) ok with Librarian-Historian
4) I think the timeframe is possible
5) I hope that everybody will be able to vote (if she/he wants) even if being in a remote location (like the library in the badlands) [yes, I am totally IC here :-)]

I ditto exactly Farhopes' sentiments.
The Hunt Coordinator position has taken a great step in having Heyboy as the Newbie Hunt Organizer. If there is to remain a general Clan Hunt Organizer, we need interested members to speak up.

IMHO: Weekly clan hunts may not need a consistant coordinator, which is to say, a "leader" is not as neccessary as a member with an itch to go somewhere. For instance, if the investigator has a hunch, he can be the point person for that weeks' destination.
