View Full Version : See an arena battle...

For those interested in watching a real life Dun'ilsar arena battle, you're in luck!

The Dwarven Militia (current #1 Dun'ilsar clan) are being challenged by the Order of the White Elephant in an arena battle. The way they're doing their battle is a little different than the way our challenge is but it's probably a great chance to see arena battle strategies in action!

It's 3 PM on Sunday (after our clan meeting)...
Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to make it to the meeting or watch the arena battle... :(

Order of the White Elephant utterly annihilated the DM..and OWE only had half as many people there too.

What happened?
What strategy did OWE have if they were able to succeed with so few people?

I'm betting that their strategy was "have people so much more powerful than the enemy that it just doesn't matter."

Aerick, the cynical =)

Ahhh! The exact opposite of our strategy! :)

OWE won because they had a ton of 4th circle fighters and healers - the DM only has a couple, both healers. In the tiny space of the arena, having 35-40 people on their own side made it very difficult for mobility on the side of the DM. OWE also protected their healers very well - which appears to be a (perhaps THE) key strategy for victory, because even a mid-range second circle fighter can kill off some 4th circle healers with relative ease if those healers havent got a protective force. All food for thought should we end up in such a tournament.

Well, it was a little bit of Aerick's explanation and a little bit of Lilly's. *grin* We have 4 fourth circle fighters and 9 fourth circle healers, we discussed and practised protecting our healers a lot because we knew that was the key to winning the fight. In the end I don't think it mattered much because it was pretty comfortable, no offense to the dwarves who put on a great performance.

It was a helluva lot of fun anyway. If the Winds of Dawn wants some Dun'ilsar practise in any type of contest OWE is free right now and kinda bored. We were thinking of offering an informal challenge to one of the newer clans to Dun'ilsar, as a welcoming. ;oD

Interested?

Tuska OWE!

Well, for myself, I'm interested in any and everything, but frequently lack the time to back it up. In any case, thanks a bunch for stopping by and enlightening us. It's always fun to have not-us posts. =)

I am in much the same position as Aerick, but would still love to give it a try. Chances are good that after Christmas I will be much more free...so I definitely say set somethign up. What say you, mighty Konoko-cat?

That sounds good to me!

Now that they've changed the structure, I think a lot of our challenges will be just for fun now... :)

So should we try setting something up relatively soon or wait till after christmas?

Well, it's pretty close to Christmas now!! Raiine is our dun'ilsar rep, she'll talk to the clan about it and then she'll offer you the challenge. I'd say it will be early January.

Hope you all have a great Christmas and an even better New Years!

OWE has been discussing a practice Dun'ilsar event with Winds of Dawn. Everyone seems to like the idea. Let us know what kind of event you'd like to do and possible times/dates.

If you'd like to chat about the possibilities, OWE has its regular (open to all) meeting on Sundays at 4 PM PST in the park in East Puddleby. You can also send a message to the OWE list at owe@clanlords.com .

Perhaps we should all go over to the OWE meeting after our meeting tomorrow?

Oh, fiddlesticks! I think I'm going to be travelling for most of today, and will very probably miss everything that's going to happen today.

I'm all for a practice! We should give it a try...

Did anyone manage to make it to the OWE meeting to talk about the dun'ilsar?

I tried but didn't get on until later (Simpsons and Malcolm were too funny)... :)

Well, I didn't see any of ya. But you've got another chance this week. ;o)

If you can't make it maybe we'll just do it over email?

Konoko

Sure!
Email works good!

Hopefully some or all of us can make it!
We have our meeting and then the vermine/rat farm cleanup. And then your meeting should be soon after that...

But email will work! To email all of the clan it's clan@windsofdawn.org
Or just post some times here in the forum or
email me directly konoko@windsofdawn.org and I can forward it to the rest of the clan...

But we can take Natas on our team, right? :)

You WANT Natas? But he just gets in the way...oh sure, you can have him!

So now we only need Gurgi, Blitz, Yor, Thuja and soon we'll have a fair chance? =)
