An exile named Larloch wanted to borrow an axe and shield for his second circle test, so being nice and all I lent mine to him, as logn as he promised to give them back after his test.
Well, he de-clanned with them without givign them back.
I have obtained a new axe and shield (Axe thanks to Cori in exchange for a short sword he wanted, anbd the shield at great cost to ym finances).
All ia sk is people keep an eye out for this Larloch, and if you see him, try to get my items back.
I ahve his promise in writing (ooc text log), so if he refuses, let me know and I'll see about taking him to court (or at least getting people (and friends) to put extreme pressure on him).

That's why I don't loan stuff to folks I don't know. By Pud'by common law, anything /sell 0'd or /give'en is legally the property of the receiver and there isn't any real legal recourse, but you can damn well try, given the prejudice and ignorance of juries =)

Terra,
you were not the only one taken by this today. On a rescue in TW one of the fighters mentioned that he had been taken by this same scam (not sure if it was the same person or not).
At any rate, there are evidently one or two people out there trying to equip their maiin characters through the use of dummy characters....so I would be carefull about any loans to anyone not well known to yourself or a friend of yours.

Bones mentioned this Larloch character was trying to sell an Axe for 650 in Town Centre.
I have placed announcements with Koppi, and have let Connie and Curosity know, who well spread it throughout their clans and friends.
This guys has clanned twice, and as soon as he has sen me on, logged off again.
So I suspect he knows he's in trouble.
Xeno.

I'm happy to report that justice has been served: Larloch has been locked up in the Pud'by jail, fined 800c, bannished 9 days, and has been subjected to Coriakin's tuborn playing., and will continue to be sued and tortured repeatedly 'till Terra gets his items back.
This will be enforced by the combined might of the Nacerean Order (or at least Althea and Aldernon) and Crunch, the Master of Doing Large Ammounts of Damage.

Aye.
Everyone was so nice.
he ended up in a cell with a rat and 2 Darshak thugs.
Slyph kept raising him, and then stopped healing so he would fall to the darshaks.
Thank you to everyone.

Terra, I'm glad everything has worked out for you, and that Larloch is getting ample time to reflect on his misdeeds. After reading about his sabatical in jail, it suddenly dawned on me that it would be nice if there was another jail or prison for more "dangerous" criminals. Perhaps somewhere in the Badlands--or better, yet--on another far off island, exiles could sportingly hunt down the disarmed prisoners, beat the ascendancy out of them, and leave their carcasses for the rats . Some might call it "barbaric", others might call it "justice". Either way you slice it (no pun intended), it has "spectacle" written all over it! And spectacles are always good drinking opportunities!
ooc: Of course, there would be a way to escape the island, but the puzzle would follow strict DT policies, virtually ensuring a life sentence for any serious criminal. ;-)

Hi
Sheesh, I really hope I'm never your enemy, Nuvali! <g>
Terra, I'm sorry what has happened to you! I lent my shield many many times in the past (also to strangers for me) and never had any trouble getting it back so far. I hope you get your stuff back as soon as possible!
<ooc>
I've no idea how to deal with such ppl ic.. As I see it, it's an ooc problem and the jail and the fine won't hurt him really. I guess he's lucky that I'm not Joe. I would have erased all his characters without hesitation.

Terra...I wish I could get my hands on that scoundrel.
This event brings mixed emotions to me. On one hand, I think what that piece of dung did is the worst thing an exile can do to another. On the other hand however, an evil exile would do this until he was punished, reformed or killed. At the very least (I am assuming the bastard put some evil thought into it) it was good roleplaying. There are others like Sir Adam, who haven't the imagination to do much more than constantly harrass exiles by \pushing them and cursing completely ooc.
I agree with the God's stance that this is a feature, not a \bug. BUT...I feel that they should give thought to a punishment system (IC) which is more severe than the crime itself. I agree with Nuvalii on his ideas of punishment.
I fear however, that certain jury members would pick the maximum sentences just to be asses. A thought would be to have "professional "juries. But...who would decide who should be a member?
Food for serious thought.
Maybe someone could forward this thread to HGM
HWC for Nunul & Co.

lol nuvali great idea there are a few really evil chars around. I have nothing against someone rp an evil character except when it comes to taking advantage of another exiles kindness by deciet.

Well, Larloch's jail sentence expired. I tried talking to him to make him see the error of his ways, but the closest I got was when he asked if I was a shrink.
So I cadded him, and let him fall. It was fun. Then his jail term elapsed. He had said something about 400c would change him, that he would sell the goods for that much money. But once he was out of jail, he wasn't interested anymore. Dunno, couldn't throttle him, but I look forward to meeting him out in the wilds....

Ouch! You really know how ta hurt a guy. :P
Oh, and hi, everybody. :)
I just don't understand people like Larloch. I could never have gotten to where I am today without the help of countless people like Terra, and I try to help everyone I can. Of course I've also been taken advantage of in ways I don't even want to talk about. :/
Well, hopefully the good deeds we do can outweigh the evil done by others. If there's anything more I can do to help you, just ask. :)

I'll take that question. Cad him 'till he's up and then let the monsters surrounding him kill him off again. Quite fun, really.
