View Full Version : What Other Games Do You Play?

I was just curious what other games the folks in the clan play when they're not playing CL. Personally I play mostly Playstation RPGs- currently working on Chrono Cross (very good btw!). I also really like Heroes of Might and Magic III. CL's really the only online game I ever played.

Playstation RPGs, also, and occasionally StarWars themed flight sims (Starfighter, X-Wing, TIE Fighter.) I also play another online game called Materia Magica (http://www.materiamagica.com/).

Other games? What are these "other games" you speak of? lol
Wish I had more time for them....
Got a PS2 when it hit (ok, floated over) shelves, but the damn thing collects more dust than voltage.
Nevertheless, HWC Nuvali hearby notifies everyone that there will be at least a week-long study period for him after MGS2 arrives.
Also looking forward to <a href="http://www.shadowbane.com">Shadowbane</a> when it finally comes out of beta.

Hey Nuvali, my hubby's been playing Dark Cloud on his PS2 and he's really enjoying it. You might want to try it out.

Does playing CL as a different character count? I don't really play other games anymore. I played Diablo II until I was done. Same for Oni. I played Fallout again. Sometimes I enjoy a spat of Daleks (has to be one of the first games ever). That's it for me.

I used to be utterly, pathetically addicted to Gemstone 3: DragonRealms several years ago, until the game switched over from being free to a horrendous pay system, where the people who paid more ooc money got special items and abilities that the "average" player did not. Now I play lots of platform RPGs and games..(Twisted Metal Black is the latest addiction...droooool...) I used to play alot of Diablo 2, but that game got old alot faster then the orginal did...given the option, i'd play the original now instead of the sequel, even with the expansion pack just around the corner. On the weekends i play several different tabletop RPGs, which one dependant on which group of people isnt too damned busy with that silly "real life" stuff to get together and play <grins>. and StarCraft...oh so very much StarCraft. And then there's the board games..
...
oh gods...

Hmm. I played Diablo 2 for a while till I got bored of it. Nuting but killin. Baldurs Gate was fun. Theres a bit more thought involved to it and its VERY big! Theres even an expension set out now.
I want to play their new one (Ive been trying to get on a Graph Sim for a long time), Summoner but alas, I dont have the system for it. I have a Beige G3 233 which is considered old now.
I dont know of any other good Mac games right now. If anyone has any suggestions, I am listening. CL is becoming boring again!!!

Oh, boy! Lemme see...
For mindless unwinding, Risk (old shareware version).
Occasional forays into Diablo II.
Working from time to time on finishing Baldur's Gate (until the bugs drive me buggy and I leave it alone for awhile).
Virtual Game Station: working thru FF7.
I'm playing a fun little shareware game called Legendary Lair (or something like that). But there's no storyline, so I'll tire of it quickly, most likely. I like the included ability to edit monsters and items.
I play Utoptia online. Oh, yes, and one other CL character.
I used to play Dragon Court, but it got too repetitive. I got one character up to Princess rank, but never was able to kill the dragon.

Utopia is a browser based, cooperative empire building game. Many thousands of people play it from all over the world...can be both fun and very frustrating, depending on the breaks.
Go to:
http://games.swirve.com/utopia/
and read the Guide. The current age is about to end, so now is a good time to become familiar with the rules, or even to start a province and play around to get a feel for the game. If you do decide to start up, my current province is Wyrmwood (14:32) - send me a message!
I log on each morning (while the coffee is perking) and evening for 5 to 15 minutes to make my moves and to check out what's been happening.
It's one of the few times I'd recommend IE over Netscape, but it seems to work a little better.

I remember Utopia! I used to play it like mad. I was in the long Beta, and the first four ages. Amicus, I was. Regent every time. 'Cause I'm cool like that.
I managed to piss off the Barduvian Alliance and rode out their #1 deathslot for a week. I was one of the first to assualt Sauron's Pets and help bring him down. I have some fond memories of that games.
Tried to get into it again, and just couldn't. Lost the hourly-check-in obsession. Oh drat.

Hi,
Is it graphical or just text.
Im a visual sort of guy and need stimulation

It's text. Don't get me wrong, it has crappy pictures next to lots of the menus, but it's a text game.
Like CL, though, it's the social interactions that make it cool. That, and crushing your foes for petty issues.
Ahhh... Crushing foes.....

Hi
You couldn't come up with this thread 2 months ago, huh? :)
I used to play muds (mainly Ancient Anguish) for many years. (Yes, as Sargon) And I've played non-online RPGs on Playstation (Final Fantasy), Nintendo (Zelda) and Amiga(Wizardry 6, my all-time favourite).
Since CL, I hardly play anything else. (which was one of my problems ;) I went back to a mud during the last 2 months, but compared to CL there was almost nothing I liked anymore. I _love_ the possibility to play a character who doesn't fight (except for rats on a fallen), and CL seems to be the only game out there (be it for Mac or for some other evil platform) where I can play such a character.

Goric, <b>Summoner</b> is/was amazing. I played it on PS2 (one of the first games I got with the console). It would be interesting to see how it compares on the Mac.
It really was one of those games that completely sucked me in and wouldn't let me go for many hours. Great story, great graphics, very nice combat/magic system, and by *FAR*, some of the largest and most unforgetable towns you will have ever seen in ANY game.
I'll warn you that at first, it may seem drab and umimpressive. Give it an hour or two, and you'll end up giving it your soul (sound familiar? :-D)

Summoner on the playstation 2 (and perhaps other venues, i dunno) has a silly movie reel in it, if you want to be entertained for several minutes. I believe it is located in the credits option, but i am not sure - my friend started playing the movie one day, and thats where he said he got it from. Its Great if you either like Dr Demento, or have joined in a session of pencil and paper gaming with a rampant horde of geeks/nerds (I can actually kinda point out which characters in the movie are like some of my friends...its scary!)

Damn... I'm sorry Goric. Time to go rent a PS2 for a week. ;-) At least you can see if it's worth future possible investment (time-wise and financially).
Yeah, Lilly! It's in the credits when you click some button (can't remember which). It's great. You can actually download the movie from IFilm.com, <a href="http://www.ifilm.com/ifilm/product/film_info/0,3699,220487,00.html">here</a>.
That link should work. If not, I apologize. It's late.

I am assuming that is a Play Station 2.
aa curses at all these #*%$@&$@*&$ accronyms
Hmm, might be a good idea. I wonder where I can get one. Maybe Blockbuster has one. I will give it a try..Thanks Nuvali... You should put a sentance or 2 about yourself in the tread I started about OOC lives. Id like to hear about who you REALLY are !

PS2 does indeed stand for Playstation 2!
I mentioned in an earlier post that i wasnt even going to buy the Diablo 2 expansion,but..well...my memory is kind of fuzzy, but i remember leaving my house, getting into a truck, grey in colour....i ..think my neighbor was driving, and..and..i know Best Buy was somehow involved...this voice keeps ringing in my head "if we share it, its only 20 bucks!"..when i came to, i was at home, sprawled onto my bed well past dawn, trying to figure out the best way to keep my rogue minion alive whilst fiighting Andariel (which was a rather foolish thing to wonder, since minions are now revivable). Kiriel mentioned in passing the idea of having a winds of dawn diablo 2-fest, which kinda sounded fun...any other takers?

Summoner is a game I've started playing recently. It's pretty good! But get a guide book or maps and stuff from the web - as Nuvali says there are some big towns! Very easy to get lost or forget where ceratin shopkeepers are and stuff.
In looking forward to getting some time to use my Mac and play Clan Lord again, I bought the Diablo II expansion set too so I'll get back to playing some Diablo II.
And as someone mentioned, a Winds of Dawn Diabo game thing would be fun! Count me in!
And lastly, the marathon games are great! Nowadays the graphics in these games pale in comparison to the quakes and unreals, but the marathon games have a grat storyline. And the multiplayer games like Tag, King of the Hill, and Kill the Man with the Ball are always fun. And with all the map editors, etc out there there are always new maps and mods/conversions out there to play. Check out Marathon Rubicon (http://marathonrubicon.com/index_main.html).
It was just recently released and has some nice features!
And of course I'm waiting for Halo!
