Hi,

I would love to hear about the "Real" lives of all you WOD folks. What you do, how old ya are, Where ya live, stuff like that. Does everyone in WOD have a web page. either personal or CL realated?

Well, since I have no regards to my personal privacy, I'll throw some basic information out there:

I'm Eric Klose (the Aerick came from Warcraft II, Eric K, with an attempt at that Greek AE thing for spiffiness)
I'm a college student at Bates, in Maine. I do Live Action Roleplaying, and am in charge of a school club that handles ... different activities. Basically, we get a budget of 1.5k to get Nerf guns and foam swords and scavenger hunts and movie-watching, and virtually anything nifty we feel like doing. Somehow, despite our plenty large budget, all kinds of my personal belongings and money are absorbed into said club. Must fix anti-embezzling.
Around October, I made the classic time-management error of getting a girlfriend. You will notice a gradual reduction in my clanning time ever since. I USED to ditch her religiously at 3pm EST on Sundays for the clan meetings, but somehow, that slowly stopped. Oops. So, I'll just pin it all on her and change the subject.
I like water. I think it fixes everything. Stay hydrated. It makes you happy, and cures all illness.
I started to learn to contact juggle, but slowly got tired of it. Actually, just as I was getting the basics, I lost my drive and stopped practicing, but it amounts to the same thing.
I just ended my attempt to live off of Ramen after a week, and have upgraded to Macaroni and Cheese, as well as soup, and 'Noodles and Sauce'. And Ramen.
I went to a Tom Brown, Jr. class, which was really cool. That was WAY back in high school (two years ago =)
I make chainmail, and just made a tab-mail tabard, which is soda-can tabs linked together. It's a lot lighter than steel, and looks different.
That's most of what comes to mind. Oh, I managed to find a Pogo-stick rated to almost 200lbs, so I have that, too.

=)

Oh, oops. Forgot to answer some of the specific questions.

I'm 20. I might have a webpage. If so, it's a crappy thing I made in 9th grade by opening another page in Notepad, and figuring out how to HTML from there. Frames came out shortly afterward. Once I started making a page, others at my school wanted to copy, and got HotDog 3.0 (which was new at the time) and was WYSIWYG. I've been bitter at HTML ever since. This was when Netscape 3.0 was new, and frames were really rare.

OK, I'll tell you about me, or at least, what is important to me:

My Family:
Jennifer is my wonderful wife and companion of 18 years. She made the incredible sacrifice of joining me here in the wilderness, leaving the comfortable civilized land of her birth and upbringing. We live in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh PA (about half way between New York and Chicago). I met Jennifer while in England on a business trip; she worked for the UK company that was distributing our software in Europe. I fired the company, and she and I decided to get married. All and all, it was an awfully successful trip.

Alexandra ("Alex", unless you enjoy receiving the evil stare) is our 15 (almost 16) year old aspiring musician / archaeologist / psychologist / goth fanatic / anime illustrator (depending on which day of the week you talk to her). Her mother and I have no idea where her tenacity and artistic talent come from, but the world is going to have to make room -- a lot of room -- for her in a few years.

Corin (known to many of you as Trowa) is my 12 year old son. The last few months have been hell for him with his illness. But despite the constant pain, he's mostly in good spirits and ready to take on life. Fortunately, his condition has improved a lot in the last few weeks. Nothing is going to stop him in life.

FamilyLinks:
The purpose of FamilyLinks is to have functioning individuals, especially families and young people, in Southwestern Pennsylvania. FamilyLinks provides a continuum of human services including mental health, substance abuse, residential, mental retardation, and community services to children, families and individuals.

As vice-chair of the board of directors, bringing FamilyLinks into existence has been my passion for the last couple of years. It was formed by merging the Parent and Child Guidance Center, and The Whale's Tale. (I had been a board member of The Whale's Tale since 1975, and, some time before that, a counselor in The Whale's Tale's runaway youth shelter.) Being a part of growing this agency from practically nothing to a full spectrum of very effective and highly respected services (we now have well over 500 employees) has been an immensely rewarding part of my life.

Currently, we are working hard at transforming our board to operate under the principles of Policy Governance, which is an incredibly powerful method, developed by John and Miriam Carver, for a board of directors to provide effective governance to an organization. As we start to enjoy the fruits of this system, I hope to begin to aid other organizations in making the transformation (I've attended the Carver Governance Academy to learn this system in great detail). If any of you are involved in any way with the governance of a non-profit or public sector organization of any kind or size, I highly recommend you look into Policy Governance.

My "Job":
I and a partner own a firm which develops customized software and provides analytic services related to product sales forecasting and market research data analysis. Currently I find myself developing primarily for Windoze; if I seem particularly nasty while in the lands, its probably because I've spent another day dealing with Windoze bugs or insanity, or the unbelievably incomplete, disorganized, and downright wrong documentation supplied by Microsoft. (In my 34 years of software development and computer center management experience, I've never seen a major piece of software of lower quality, or with worse documentation, than Windoze.)

Fortunately, I have to make only minimal use of the PC. We do the vast majority of our work on Macs -- especially software development, which gives us a tremendous edge in productivity and capabilities.

I work out of my home (and have been doing so for 20 years now). My partner (and the "official" location of my firm) is in Lafayette, California -- about 25 miles east of San Francisco. I get out that way once in a while, but I really try to avoid travel. Prior to the last several years I was a constant business traveller -- something which gets real old, real fast.

For what its worth, I am a graduate of Carnegie Mellon, with an undergraduate degree in business, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Had to laugh at Aerick's post. What, no mention of eating Fluff? Or (given the present season) of being professional mosquito/blackfly bait?

Sorry...for those who do know, Aerick is fairly close to me in geographical terms. As far as I know, there are only 3 Clanners in Maine - Aerick, Aethelred, and Jam (of course, that is because there are probably only 3 MACS in Maine).

Ok...throwing a little privacy to the winds:

Hi! I'm Rob. Age 30 (or as my 8 year old daughter--going on 18--so poignantly puts it, I'm "30 and 3/4's"). I live in St. Louis, MO with my wife and two kids, and work as a Solutions Engineer (which is just an ambiguously fancy title for senior web developer/architect/project manager) at LiveWireMedia (<a href="http://www.lwm.com">www.lwm.com</a> ). These days I do quite a bit of NT/2000/ASP development, but occassionally I get an Apache/PHP project thrown in my direction. I have to admit something: I actually enjoy (I guess in a schizophrenic kind of way) working on a PC during the day, and coming home to a Mac. It's like a breath of fresh air, and since I don't seem to lean towards any particular os (linux, mac (both), and windows), I tend to dodge a lot of the anti-this and anti-that sentiments that always clash during company picnics :-D. Not to say that all those Microsoft conspiracy theories aren't true. Bill Gates *is* the Anti-Christ, and Steve Jobs is just jealous he didn't get the job.

I really do enjoy my work and consider myself fortunate, except when I have to rudely call and wake up a developer on a fine holiday morning (like today), because I discovered that our site's new menu-system doesn't work in OmniWeb (probably a damn stylesheet issue, but who the hell uses OmniWeb, anyway, except us bleeding-edge Mac folks, right?). Bah! Too early for that discussion.

I normally spend my free time with my wife and kids. I enjoy getting pummeled on a very regular basis by my daughter at Uno, and having hour-long religious debates with my wife (she's Southern Baptist and I'm agnostic--yes, opposites *DO* attract, lol). I spend my "free-free" time reading mindless fiction, writing mindless fiction for no one to read, and being dazzled by that life-sucking endeavor we've all grown to love and hate--Clanlord.

I met a few folks at the Red Quill get-together in Chicago a couple weekends ago. To be honest, I was a little apprehensive before going because it was the first time I'd ever get face to face with people I've only met in cyberland. (You know--you hear all these stories....) To my relief, none of them *seemed* like axe murderers, and it turned out to be great fun for the brief period of time I got to spend with them.

Right now, my wife and I are undergoing the process of trying to find a new house. So far, it has been one of the most fun, most exciting, and most agonizing adventures.

To further convolute my life, I've been putting a lot of energy (probably too much) into developing the story behind Nuvali. If you haven't had an opportunity to check out his <a href="http://www.altegos.com/nuvali">site</a>, please do so, damnit ;-D!!! And...oh yeah--see if you can crack the chest. Only one person has been successful, so far.

Alright, that's not enough for now, but if you want to know more, you'll just have to come visit me in St. Louis. I'd love to meet ya'!

Hi,

30 ey? I figured you were in that range. Seems there are so many web foolks in CL. I am very jealouse! Always wanted to get into that line or work. hehe. Bill Gates the Anti-Christ.. I have a sound bite you ahve to hear. Its from a radio station somewhere in England ( I think). He calls up Microsoft wanting to speak to Lucifer. And the Customer Service guy at Microsoft actually goes looking through their company directory trying to find Lucifer!!!!

OmniWeb? Whats that?? Religious Debates. oooohh
really!!!! I love debating such things. So, you like fiction ey. Ever read (Cant remember his name) a book called Virtuallu Eliminated? Its a Christian book so prolly not. Its pretty good as far as Christian Fiction goes. There is so little good Christian fiction out there. C.S Lewis did a good series called the Space Trilogy which is not overdly Christian.

Yeah, I hear you met Lanna ( aa grits hi teeth out of jealousy ). So where is this address to your web site? Did I miss it?

I have another one that I hope to post soon but its a business site.

Very nice to meet you!!

Whereabouts in England were ya. I lived there for 2 years while in the Air Force.

Now I know why I like being in WOD so much. You are all tereffic folks OOC as well. So huh, you fired the company there! hehe. Trowa is your son!!!!

Wow..what kind of illness does he have?? You do some kind of marketing research ey? Hmmm. I will have to show ya my web site when I get it up and running. I am trying to start a business which is low end marketing research. A cut above Secret Shopping to be sure but in that realm.

I would love to hear your ideas on it and the idea for the company in general.

I just had a thought. (I know cause I saw the puff of smoke come out of my ears.)

I started this thread but I didnt put anything in here about me.. OOpsie!!!

So, here is everything you ever wanted to know about Phillip but was afraid to ask..... ( Well not quite everything )

Like most of ya here, I love Mac and hate Windoz. I used to work for Symantec up in Oregon doing technical support. I stated out in the Mac group but then I was forced to take calls and support the PC.....ekie ekie poo !!!

I just turned 40 a few days ago but I feel like Im still 25. I was born in Fort Worth Texas but moved to Oregon where I lived for about 8 years. Then I decided to come back to Texas to be close to my family. Plus I did get in some financial trouble involving a couple of girls in Oregon.

I tend to buy women stuff. I bought 1 girl a new car and a bought another 1 a washer/Dryer. Guess I get a bit carried away. Im a bit of a hopeless or hopefull, depending on how you look at it, romantic !!

After all, I am single!! Any nice, god looking, rich, available women out there???? Just kidding....I dont care if she is rich...But it would help!!!

Theres an idea Kiri, You cold start a Clan Lord singles dating site.

Ok Ok, where was I?? Oh yeah... On second thought, enough of that.. I am working at a Pee plant right now doing Customer Service. Yes that right, I said a Pee plant. Its actually a Drug Testing lab but Pee plant is close.

I am wanting to go to school to learn how to make web sites. I do it now as a hobby but I want to be really good at it and maybe even make a few bucks at it. But I cant seem to find a school that teaches that around here.

I am also thinking about starting a business that I touched on in the last letter so I wont bore ya with that again. I hope to get the web site up soon. Love life stinks so I wont go there. Life right now mainly consist of work and CL. Looking for a good church to attend around here.

I tend to hover around the singles sites a bit. I have profile up on Christian Matchmaker and Dallas matchmaker. hehe..Its kinda fun to meet new folks. Maybe I will find Miss Right out there somewhere.

Anyway, thats some of me. You bored yet??

Nice to meet you, too, Phillip, Gray and Eric. A new car!? WOW! Let's talk, Goric. Hell, *I* would even consider being your girlfriend, for a day! lol (geez...now there's no way I can let my wife read this :-D)

Actually you can hit Nuvali's site by just clicking on the "WWW" button below this message, or you can just go to <a href="http://www.altegos.com/nuvali">www.altegos.com/nuvali</a>.

Yeah... Lanna is a sweetheart!. She said you were even considering coming but couldn't make it:-( I really wish I could have stuck around longer.

And you hit the nail right on the head. I have met some of the most interesting, remarkable, and kind people, playing this game. It's almost strange how so many great folk seem to gravitate to CL. :-D

FYI Goric- OmniWeb is an OS X browser. Personally I prefer iCab and Opera, but OmniWeb has some neat features. I'm looking forward to running OS X but I really have to wait till Cisco gets their OS X VPN client out first so I can get work done under it.

Now my personal stuff- in case you hadn't noticed, I'm a pretty open book :)
I'm 26 and I live in the SF Bay Area, about halfway between Oakland and San Jose. I'm a huge Mac fan and I love Unix too- Mac's best at UI, Unix at power, and Windoze just doesn't seem to be good enough at either one to qualify for me. I'm a webmaster (emphasis on page creation, site organization and scripting in PHP/Perl) for a company called Planetweb- we make web browsers for non-computer devices, such as game machines, DVD players and cable set-top boxes. Our best claim to fame is the Dreamcast browser, and I spend most of my time working on the portal we have for Dreamcast users. In case you couldn't tell by my anybrowser.org sites, I'm somewhat of a fanatic about web site accessibilty. My electric car (EV1) even has a license plate that says NEBRWSR. (BTW, in case you couldn't tell, I love my car). My hubby is a Unix sysadmin and tends to use a PC for games, but recently he's decided he wants a TiBook- he plans to switch to MacOS X for his laptop platform, and just keep his desktop PC for games.

In other info, I've never really played any online games besides ClanLord, except for Diablo II once or twice with my hubby (btw, I'm playing the expansion now, in case you guys are wondering why I've been a little scarce lately). Mostly I alternate a console game (usually Playstation RPG) with ClanLord, although occasionally I have a Mac game to play. I'm kind of one of those homebody folk- I prefer staying home and reading, playing games, and watching TV to going out and doing stuff, and I'm definitely _not_ a morning person. I also tend to be online pretty much constantly- I'm weird that way. I have my Powerbook (Lombard) setup in the family room on the coffee table in front of the TV, and I do almost everything on it. I also work from home twice a week, which is why you'll sometimes see me clanning early in the afternoons on Tuesdays and Fridays (when my work isn't too heavy).

I also tend to go on, and on and on, so I'll stop now :)

Hi Nuvali and all,

Im very happy to meet all of you. Wish I could have been there in Chicago. I tried to get the time off work but I couldnt manage it. Tell ya what, if you and Lanna want to come down this way, be sure to drop in on me. Or if you arrange something else up that way, I will do my best to make it. I finally bought a new car so I can make those long journeys now.

I will check out your web site a bit later. Wow..this thread has gotten more responce than others I have stated. I am glad that I finally hit on something that folks are interested in. I guess everyone likes to talk about themselves. :)

Kiri is one of my best friends in CL so I allready knew a bit about her. Isnt she great!

Well, I really appreceate all the responces. Its great to meet everyone. Hey, Maybe we should have a WOD in-person meeting like the one that they had in Chicago. We just have to find a somewhat central location for it.

Any ideas???

Them facts 'bout Lai's clicker:

I live in the CST timezone (midwestern United States). I have a glamorous part-time job at a bookstore. I have a degree in visual communications which i recieved a few years ago, but only use it for recreation.

I fancy myself an artist and musician, but i cannot for the life of me get that damned Clan Lord Tune Helper to really do anything I like..On that subject, my 3 favorite musicians are Tori Amos (musical Goddess), Trent Reznor (He who makes Nine Inch Nails go round) and Maynard James Keenan (the singer of Tool and A Perfect Circle).

I love anime, pizza, and beating my friends with those big red plastic bats used for whiffle ball - I am like a ninja turtle, except I do not smell like a sewer.

I like putting lots of parentheses into my writing, because its the best way i can approiximate the way i talk - just imagine most things in parentheses as being said in a sort of clandestine, afterthoughty kind of way (with my eyes shifting and a silly little sneaky grin on my face) and the effect of my speech shall be recreated in your mind!

I have a distorted sense of humor, which is rarely based in reality, but I keep a fairly tight reign on it when i am playing clan lord...neither of my characters really share it.

A few people have brought up the fact that I never make an ooc comment about my clicker that mentions which gender I am. That is because I am part of a government task force engineering the ultra-elite in genetic wonder - the "z" chromosome! Once it is released, there will be an entire series of new genders, so getting used to which one I am now seems unnecessary (theres that distorted sense of humor again!). But, until i inject myself with the "z" serum, i shall remain male. I am often mistaken as a female when i go to restaurants, though - i have been growing my hair out for the last 10 years. It also makes ICQ hell - trying to find a convenient way to interject "heyhey! I am a guy!" into a conversation can be surprisingly difficult! umm..hrm...see? it seems to have even stopped this conversation dead too...Oh well..its gone on long enough anyways! Farewell Folks!

I have neer gotten used to these words and phrases that are suppose to mean something. Clicker? I guess that comes from one that clicks on that silly little mouse. Cept I use a trackball and I have my prefs set to 'Click toggle' which means I dont click but let my mouse pointer do the walking.

So should I call myself then; "he who Tracks for Sir Goric?"

Anyway, I always took you for a female too Lilly. I guess it is the name. Havent seen too many guys called Lilly. I thought about playing a female once. But then I thought about getting hit in by guys and I quickly said "Bye Bye" to it.

Well, it was an ineresting introduction you gave there Lilly.

Talk to ya later

Nothing wrong with being 16 Mehan. There are lots of younger folks who play CL- Malkor for instance is pretty young I know, I met him ooc. I'd have loved it then if the Internet was popular in those days.

Actually, I think most online games tend to have folks closer to your age, but CL is one of those oddities where there actually are a fair amount of older folks playing compared to most games where folks above 25 feel old.

For anyone who cares, I have two brothers. One teaches music at Venice Beach high school and is a year and a half younger than me, and the other is Mehan's age, still in high school, and just recently got his driver's license. Neither plays CL.

I'm an amateur snowboarder, basically I get payed by a local board shop to go in compitions and do well. :D Heh, I didn't make too much last year. ;D But they also pay for my apartment rent (which I share with 3 other dudes) and my board ($800 US).

I have a pretty warped sence of humor. Can you watch the Holy Grail 7 times in a day? I thought not. <G>

Umm.... I'm 5'9".... Blonde Hair Blue Eyes type. =P Maybe I'll get a picture and post it some time. Just to be really evil! Mwah! <G>

Last year my Brother died and My Mom lost the use of her legs when a Drunk Driver T Boned them, but we managed to pull through. Though I miss my brother every day ( we had one of those cool siblings relationships :D) my parents are always there for me. :)

My Mom used to be a lwayer, but she hasn't been able to work because of back pains... from the accident. My Dad has quit his old work as a Ocean mapper type poerson. :P And now stays at home to help my mom.

Perrin, I feel for you. 8 years ago, my cat died. I cried for days (not really). Anyways, that was my attempt at being empathetic. I wish I could sincerely understand your "sibling relationship" that you lost. All I have is an older sister who is simply a... well, you know.

Now for the fun stuff. First off, my real name is Brian. I live in the States, specifically in New Jersey. Now, where is New Jersey? (for you brits/canadians/americans with no sense of direction.) New Jersey is on the eastern coast, in a place best described as the "armpit of the United States." We have pride in our legalized gambling, leadership in destroying the earth, and our really fake New York accents. (Water? You mean wooder.)

Just tell me when I'm giving too much information. [:D]

I am just 15 years old and yet another sophomore-to-be. People describe me as a pretentious, power-hungry bastard, but they're not my friends. I am incredibly lazy, and in my free time, I read, watch tv, and try to fix my computer. I am a... simple person. Friends say I have the patience and attention span of a 4 year-old, and they're probably right. I also HATE big words and try my hardest never to use them. [:D]

I think I got it all, eh? Let's see... I live in SOUTH New Jersey. So you can look up all the Brians in the phone book for Cape May County and give me a call. Oh! Monty Python rocks too. I solemnly agree. [:D] Just don't pull me into one of those who-knows-more-quotes contest. They suck. I'm just a Cleese fan, that simple. That's why it ended... couldn't survive without him! Cleesists unite!

Individual comments!

Mehan: shame on you for being ashamed to be in high school! Pfft! Be proud of your youth. All these other people are going to be going through quarter (or half) life crisises while we're partying! So there!

Perrin: [:(]

Althus: Good idea.

Goric: Indeed.

Lilly: Nuh-uh! [:D]

Well Highschool does suck. I can't wait to get to college. *counts down the years*

And I'm still scared to tell Althus where I'll go to college.

*smacks her forehead* I didn't read Lerris' whole post! NEW JERSEY!!! Wooot!!!
I was born in NJ. Whippany, know of it? <g> New Jewsy actually. <g> I still say odd things, but my friends have gotten used to it.

*does the happy dance again* That's TWO people that are younger then me!

Party at Althus' house!! [:D]

High School sucks, College rocks, 30 is just fine, and I can't quite speak to being 40 yet.[:p]

I remember my senior year of HS, I counted the days until I went off to college.

Goric

Never went to college...H.S. was plenty boring enough

No offense to those here that went to college, but some of the dumbest people I ever met, were college gradguates.

Why is it that our society says that you have to have a piece of paper that says you are smart?

Besides, why would I want to go to college, I dont drink?

Goric

I agree that a diploma says little about a person's knowledge and worth, and I got 4 of 'em.[;)] They are just job-training certificates that happen to be required if you want to have certain jobs.

But I really like the work I do, so I'm glad I stuck it out and got all those diplomas.[:D]

Althus
07-29-2001, 04:56 PM
Getting a diploma is a lot like passing a circle test. It gives you access to new training, and new job opportunities, but doesn't say much about your worth. It also requires training in a specific way to get one quickly.

Alice is ALIVE! ALIVE!!! SHE LIVES!

Just ten minutes ago I resurected the ol' gal.

And on the discussion of college and the what not, I actually know a very intelligent communications major who goes to school in Montreal. So, in conclusion, college means absolutely nothing when determining intelligence. Of course, she's completely screwed once she graduates. [:D]

Hope to see you all on Clan Lord (hopefully)! I can money whore again! [:D]

Oh...

It isn't normal to give your computers female names? My PC, Fiona, actually has conversations. Something makes her beep every 10 seconds (probably the fan or motherboard, which are both too much work to replace... for lazy me at least); she is quite the conversationalist too. She doesn't beep as much when I use her though, and she goes into full alert mode whenever one of my computer savvy friends goes near her. Name your computers, and they will get personalities... really. I know. She's sleeping right now...

Oh... it ISN'T normal; just ignore what I said then. And thanks for answering, Kiri. =D

-Lerris, who wishes he didn't even post this post due to extreme stupid-looking-ness!

P.S.- Adobe Illustrator 9 rocks! Doing free craptastic portraits so I can practice my Illustrator interface (Photoshop junkie, but Illustrator is soooo powerful and fun! Much funner than Photoshop. Portraits require more thougth! And are easily modified!!!!! And layers are unneccessary for amateurs! MUAHAHAHA!!!!); just IM/mail/call/notify me if you'd like a Clan Lord picture of your character done. I just managed to pull out my first Illustrator picture (Cl self Portrait), and it looks decent. Elves are easiest... so sign up first.I will dream about gradients tonight! (I know I'm a wannabe geek, so there!) Wow... my P.S. is longer than my post.... wow. I'm beginninning to impress myself. Pretty neat, eh? Not everyone can ramble on and on and on like me. Well, Kiri can. But she can do lots of stuff. Althus can too, but he has lots of puns and what not. Witty talk. Wayyyy too complex for me, that's certain. I'll stick to my five letter words, thank you very much. And pun-free is the way to be. Most agree with me. Come to think of it, I still need to submit a clan yell. Go figure. Wow... if you've read this far, I'll give you ten dollars, really. So, Mehan's definately not getting ten dollars, and neither is Goric. I wonder why zos have such short attention spans... odd really. I wonder why I'm still talking. I tend to talk a lot. A lot on my mind ussually. Just the other day I had a half hour conversation with a plant. A cactus I believe it was. Never hug a cactus. That's good advice. I think I heard that on the tele. I probably did, yes. How odd... Ever hear something somewhere and you're confused? I'm confusing myself. Wow... I can type pretty fast. Neato. Okay... I really shouldn't type everything I'm thinking. It's a conbination of frightening insight into my peanut-sized mind and spam. Dangerous really. When you combine two things so full of preservatives, only evil can result. I wonder what spam and peanut butter tastes like... Oh... Now would be a good time for a Monty Python reference. 20 dollars if you've read this far. I really shouldn't post at 5:30 in the mornin... only bad things come of it. I'm losing control of what I think and what I type... Must dominate... I'm getting tired now. Am I still typing? Wow... trippy. Erm... Maybe Kiri will moderate this or something. That'd probably be smart. I'll ask her tommorrow. Oh, it is tommorrow. Whoever read this wins a prize. Maybe Spam... ermm okay. I can stop any time I want to. On 3...

damn. Okay... I can do this. Since no one read this far, I'll give 50 dollars to however tells me the hidden password! The password is: the sparrows swim in marmalade.
Remember that and win a prize. Thank you and good night! Sorry if this dragged on and on and on. It was only meant to be a sentence, really. I'm too tired to erase it all and I just might be delirious. Not too sure at this point... Wow... another 3 sentences I really, sincerely didn't mean to type. This is so sad. Hopefully Kiri will kill this post and leave the non-PS. Let's hope. Oh! Free portraits too. Don't forget =D

I resmeble that remark Lerris. I have to admit that I skipped and jumped through your post. But I hit the highlights if there were such things.

Well, I'll jump in:

--I'm 40 years old, single and likely to stay that way [:(]
--I live in Dallas, Texas
--I have a B.A. from Rice University in Biology
--I have a Ph.D. from Rice University again, in Evolution and Animal Behavior
--I taught at Southern Methodist University for 4 years
--Then I went nuts and dropped my academic career entirely to try and be a science fiction writer. Not published yet.

--I clan a lot because, although writing is very fun and rewarding, any excuse will do to not have to do it. Weeding the flowerbeds and doing the dishes suddenly become very attractive pastimes (Clanning is better). It's a strange paradox of writing.

--I have 6 clanning characters, 3 female and 3 male. I ain't saying which side matches PWC. Therian and Kaerie are the only two I'm public about the connection, they were the first two. A few friends have heard about some of my others.

--My first Macintosh was the original 128K model released in 1984. I buy a new Mac every two years to stay up-to-date. I have never owned a Windoze PC and never will (knock on wood).

I like lots of things and dislike very few. A partial list from the like side:

--I like books. Favorite authors are JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis, but I like lots of others as well.

--I like Japanese animation. Favorite titles include Sailor Moon, Oh My Goddess, Maison Ikkoku, and just about anything by Hayao Miyazaki

--I like comic books. I read DC, not Marvel (Superman? Yay! X-Men? Yawn!)

--I like TV. ER, Law & Order, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel (WB network sucks), Doctor Who, Quantum Leap

--I like movies. The recent Lord of the Rings movies were really, really great even though they don't deserve to sit in the same room as Tolkien's actual novel.

--I can recite Monty Python and the Holy Grail by heart. I have every episode of Flying Circus on DVD.

--Therian [:D]

Angel (WB network sucks)

It does, doesn't it!
What the heck are they doing cancelling Angel? Goofs...

Anyways, at least I think Enterprise will be back.

And here's another vote for Doctor Who! That's great!
A little tip though for anyone else planning to watch it. Don't miss the first few minutes or you'll have a hard time trying to figure out what's going on. At least that's what I've noticed :)

Throw mst3k in the mix too!

It was a nice series finale, at least. I thought it was appropriate for the overall tone of the series. (I won't be more specific in case anyone has it TIVO'd and is waiting to watch it.)

I enjoy Enteprise but I'm only a fair-to-middling Star Trek fan.

And here's another vote for Doctor Who! That's great!

What do you think of the news from the UK about the show? Or have you heard? After years of hemming and hawing, it's been confirmed that Doctor Who returns with new episodes in 2005. The Doctor has already been cast-- some British guy I've never heard of, but that's nothing new. Delightful rumors of Buffy's Anthony Steward Head in the role have been sadly shot down, but I'm still looking forward to the new series.

Throw mst3k in the mix too!

Yeah, great show. Better with a crowd than watching alone, although with the right crowd you hardly need the show, just the original movie. [:)]

Great! I hadn't heard that!
I've heard on again/off again rumours of it starting up again. But I hadn't heard that they were that close! I'll have to go check out the doc who sites!

Well folks, I'm a very busy many and a sort of jack of all trades. I dabble in a bit of everything. nothing in particular order

::Side 1::
I am 22 years of age and have a wonderful wife and a 7 month old. I have been married for 3 years now. Now you may be saying 22 male and married. I fell for this woman the day i met her, her dad is a huge mac guy wouldn't you know, but thats not all. She was everything on my list, and being huge computer nerd I needed all the help I could get. Chances of lightning striking twice isn't that good. Seriously I love her to death.

::Side 2::
Musician, I have been playing guitar since i was 5, now i can add drummer, bassist and the list goes on. Gotta love the mandolin. I write and perform my own songs.

::Side 3::
Computer Hacker and Macintosh Man, i dunno if i had to choose a Mac or my wife, and couldn't have both, i may have said mac... J/K. I run an underground macintosh site, and just happen to use the same name for clan lord as my handle. If you want to check it out. www.teamhandicap.com, I have been into this scene for probabbly about 12 years now. I don't have as much time as I used to to program, but thats ok. Some people drink or do other things to unwind. I program. I am currently a network admin/ php/cgi developer. :-p

::Side 4::
Artist. I draw a lot and paint alot. I am shy about my artwork.

I was in the navy for 4 months, but i was medically seperated, for graves disease. I finished boot camp and had my special physical and they got the lab results back and didn't want to treat me. So it took them 2 months to send me home, because of all the paper work. I was going in for the cyber terrorism team, which wargames are basically hacking into systems and another team trys to stop them. To bad I was kicked out.

thats about all.
