I have taken the liberty of making this topic, since our Investigator is currently absent from the lands. May he have mercy on my blasphemous, unauthorized soul <giggles>
current bloodmagic goodies:
The location of Nacerus, the NPC who sells bloodblades (which are the first step to blood magic, according to what he says) is underground in the savannah. you can get there by going through the crpyt/tomb area in the maha den, or going through the large "gem icon" teleporter in the mines (its on the east side of the teleportation chamber). Be prepared for a big fight with undine - the spawn rate is remarkably high for the room he is in, often having enough enemies to fill the entire room.
To be able to use the blood blade you must be a figher of at least 3rd circle, and you must have recieved at least 3 messages that allow you to purchase a new weapon. the first two messages are for the fell blade and then the gossamer. Currently, how to obtain this 3rd message is unknown, but it is very likely you have to do something very specific repeatedly. My current, tottaly uninformed guess, is that you may have to kill many creatures whilst on red. It has been generally confirmed that the number of departs you have is not a factor in obtaining a bloodblade, if it is a factor, it is not based on a straight out number. Also, if you talk to Nacerus fallen, it will not impress him anymore then being alive. <giggles>
The benefits of the bloodblade so far appear to be that you get added stats as you become better with the weapon (i am not sure which stats, other then an atkus boost). the downside is that it drains your life, until you "level out" at a certain point (averaging 10% or so reamining of life). That point may vary depending on how well you are trained with the blade, but thats not yet confirmed. You can be healed, but as soon as the healing stops, your life will begin to fall again.
If you are a non-fighter, or a fighter without the ability to obtain your own bloodblade, you can still hold the weapon, but it will give you none of the benefits and all of the negatives - you will bleed until you reach 1 to 2 % life, and then not heal up until you stop using the blade. if a healer heals you, as soon as they stop, you will begin to lose life once more. The sword itself does not appear to be able to kill someone on its own, though it can drain you low enough that a rat can do the job instead. You will recieve a message that says "your blood pours uselessly down the blade".
It costs a dagger and a moonstone to get the bloodblade from Nacerus once he starts offering it to you. Nacerus stands next to a room that nobody can open yet, which he states is highly dangerous, but is the path to true power. He also hints that people with bloodblades will eventually be able to enter this room when they have mastered its techniques, leading to other special abilities (which, in effect, may make this the first publicly uncovered fighter subclass) You can recognize a person using a bloodblade by their near-constant grunting and the bloodspots that blip all over them. If anyone else learns more, fell free to post it.
