I have taken the liberty of making this topic, since our Investigator is currently absent from the lands. May he have mercy on my blasphemous, unauthorized soul <giggles>

current bloodmagic goodies:

The location of Nacerus, the NPC who sells bloodblades (which are the first step to blood magic, according to what he says) is underground in the savannah. you can get there by going through the crpyt/tomb area in the maha den, or going through the large "gem icon" teleporter in the mines (its on the east side of the teleportation chamber). Be prepared for a big fight with undine - the spawn rate is remarkably high for the room he is in, often having enough enemies to fill the entire room.

To be able to use the blood blade you must be a figher of at least 3rd circle, and you must have recieved at least 3 messages that allow you to purchase a new weapon. the first two messages are for the fell blade and then the gossamer. Currently, how to obtain this 3rd message is unknown, but it is very likely you have to do something very specific repeatedly. My current, tottaly uninformed guess, is that you may have to kill many creatures whilst on red. It has been generally confirmed that the number of departs you have is not a factor in obtaining a bloodblade, if it is a factor, it is not based on a straight out number. Also, if you talk to Nacerus fallen, it will not impress him anymore then being alive. <giggles>

The benefits of the bloodblade so far appear to be that you get added stats as you become better with the weapon (i am not sure which stats, other then an atkus boost). the downside is that it drains your life, until you "level out" at a certain point (averaging 10% or so reamining of life). That point may vary depending on how well you are trained with the blade, but thats not yet confirmed. You can be healed, but as soon as the healing stops, your life will begin to fall again.

If you are a non-fighter, or a fighter without the ability to obtain your own bloodblade, you can still hold the weapon, but it will give you none of the benefits and all of the negatives - you will bleed until you reach 1 to 2 % life, and then not heal up until you stop using the blade. if a healer heals you, as soon as they stop, you will begin to lose life once more. The sword itself does not appear to be able to kill someone on its own, though it can drain you low enough that a rat can do the job instead. You will recieve a message that says "your blood pours uselessly down the blade".

It costs a dagger and a moonstone to get the bloodblade from Nacerus once he starts offering it to you. Nacerus stands next to a room that nobody can open yet, which he states is highly dangerous, but is the path to true power. He also hints that people with bloodblades will eventually be able to enter this room when they have mastered its techniques, leading to other special abilities (which, in effect, may make this the first publicly uncovered fighter subclass) You can recognize a person using a bloodblade by their near-constant grunting and the bloodspots that blip all over them. If anyone else learns more, fell free to post it.

We have 2 3rd circle healers (Aerick and Tater), but no 3rd circle fighter. I'm probably the closest (I have more Atkus than Farhope, which seems to be the key to killing the rage in the test) but I figure I still need about 30-50 more Atkus before even standing a chance of passing, which means another 2 months or so of study if my ranks don't slow too much in the meantime. Chances are we will get a new member who is a 3rd circle fighter before Farhope or I pass the test, but you never know.

Lilly, when you say 3 messages, do you mean 3 distinct messages? I ask this because I received the same message at least 3 (maybe 4 times) over the course of 3 ooc months, but the message was always the same.

I was also under the impression that the Fell Blade and Gossimer were based on your training habits: Fell Blade--for a fighter with lots of balance; Gossimer--for a fighter with lots of Darkus. In other words, each weapon compliments your previous style of training. The basic idea (from what I understand) is that the Gossimer allows a fighter to more efficiently manage their darkus during combat. The Fell Blade, on the other hand, allows a fighter to target a creatures vunerable spots, and inflict more damage. I have only trained with the Fell for 10 ranks, so it is much too soon to notice any significant changes. I did notice, after using my axe, that the Fell is more forgiving on my balance (especially after a few good sips of single malt <g>).

My question is: once a fighter has chosen one of these weapons, will they ever be able to effectively use any of the other special weapons in the future?

Many fighters have the ability to use both the fell blade and gossamer. There are a whole slew of messages that relate to training with fells and gossamers (i dont know them all because i am not a fighter) but, there is a message that you only recieve once per weapon, which indictaes you are able to start learning for it, and thats the message thats needed. As for Aldernon falling to blood magic...I never claimed to know everything <grins> I wonder what he did to it to make it kill him..

OWE went there today and none of our third or fourth circle fighters could get a blood blade. Many of us can already get both the fell blade and gossamer. I guess it'll happen when it happens. :o\

Though the blood blade doesn't interest me the subclass of blood magic does sound intrigueing...

You have to learn to crawl before you can walk, right?
