It seems that the meeting times have been changed. I thought we were just making new meetings, not doing away with the one we allready had. It seems I have no idea when the next meeting is?

Hmmm. I finally found where the meeting times are posted nad it seems that I missed the metting this week. :(

I will try to make the one next week.Hope its on the regular time on Sunday.

Might I suggest that the meeting schedule be moved to the opening page so that they are the first thing that anyone sees when they come to the scrolls.

It seems a lot of people didn't understand. I'm not going to put the meetings on the front page- but maybe I'll put a reminder about it on there. The next meeting is Saturday at 6pm PDT- if you look at the events page you can see the next four meetings coming up.

My script automatically sent email on Friday to everyone in the clan to remind them about the meeting (and will do so every Friday). Didn't you get it?

Well, there your scrolls Kiri and I am sure you have your reasons for not putting the meeting times on the front page.

Either I didnt get the e-mail or I just missed it which is more likely the case.

Next saturday at 6 ey?

Hmm. I will try to make it but I have to say that Sundays are better for me to make meetings. Im not busy right now on Saturdays but I expect that to change soon.

I am starting to regret supporting these changes in the meeting times.....

Hi

I think we should give the new system a try.. I'm also not sure whether it's really a good system but if it turns out bad we still can switch back to the old system or to yet another one.

Thanks Kiri for sending the email-reminder! And I'm sorry I didn't read it properly and forgot... luckily I was in the lands at that time though :)

Sure, we can give it a try, but you can put me down for a big NO vote. I was under the impression
( Guess I shouldnt try to do impression !) that we were going to add to the existing meeting times, not change the schedule alltogether.

Coming to to Sunday WOD meetings is the hightlight of my clanning experience. I am going to miss it terribly !

Perhaps it would be a good idea to have 2 meetings- one that's standard and one that rotates. This new schedule was Gray's proposal based on the input of those who responded to his timing questions- the idea being that we may not have meetings at a time everyone can make every week, but this way more people can make at least some of the meetings. I think the thought was that 2 meetings a week might be too many, but I'm certainly up for it. DM has one meeting on Sunday afternoons and another meeting in the evening on Tuesdays- I don't see why we couldn't do something similar but just have the 2nd time rotate. I would suggest that if we have 2 meetings, that we try to space them out- have one during the week and one on the weekend.

The reason I wasn't going to put the meeting times on the front page is that we already have an events page for that purpose. No offense Goric, but I sent out an email explaining that the meeting times had changed, I setup a special script to update them automatically on the scroll, and remind everyone via email every Friday of the times, and I feel a little frustrated that you think I didn't do enough to give out the information about them. I could have put them on the front page too, but I was under the impression that folks in the clan read their email more than they visit the front page of the scrolls. I put up a note on the front page about the meeting times at your suggestion, but putting the times themselves there would be complicated given the structure of the schedule.

I want to point out that the rotating schedule is great for me. I'm never technically busy at set times, but it's hard for me to take a chunk out of the middle of my Sunday, when friends eat dinner, and I need to do work, and there's just ... stuff ... going on. If it were once in a while, it'd be fine, but I can't bring myself to miss every week.

So I stopped going to meetings, which let to me just ceasing to clan.

This way, I can miss Saturday morning one week, when everyone at college is hung-over (or sleeps in). Another week, I can stay in that night, the next week, I miss the middle of Sunday, but it's varied enough that it would be possible for me to make most of the meetings, instead of it interfering with my day, every week.

Since only about 50% of the clan attends meetings currently (probably not all due to scheduling, but certainly a factor), I think we should definitely see how this goes, and I am very much in favor of it.

--------------

The only reason I missed on Sat, was because I had dinner plans. The only time I've had dinner plans since I went to a graduation dinner over a month ago. Damn timing.

I meant no offense Kiri. I told ya that I prolly just missed the e-mail. My main purpose in propossing that time be posted on the main page was not for members but for non-members, folks just pasing through, etc...

If I were someone (not a member) just coming into the scrolls for the first time, I would not think to look at the events page to find the meeting times. Again, I meant to offense but please forgive the appearance of such.

You are a treasure Kiri and we are lucky to have you as the leadre of the clan.

Sir Goric

P.S. I think having 2 per week might work. Im not sure. All I know is with the schedule the way it is, I have gone from making a meeting every week to 1 or 2 a month. :(

Goric, sorry I got snippy- I just got a little sick of hearing from people who didn't read the email- I was worried that there'd be some confusion, and sure enough there was.

A non-member looking for the meetings would most likely go to either the Joining the Clan page (since they're probably applying) or to the Events page (since if they're not joining they probably just want to go to one of our events). Both pages have the meeting information. I could put up a link just for meetings, but I don't know that there's really that many people who want to go to meetings that aren't going to look in one of those two places, and there are already a lot of links on there- I don't want to overdo it and confuse people.

Just to clarify, I'm not the leader of the clan, just the webmistress :)

What does everyone else think about the 2 meeting thing?

Hi!

I'm not really sure about all this meeting stuff... but I'm a bit scared, to be honest. Last meeting we were 4 people only. I guess there was some confusion about the time but I'm not sure that was the only reason. What I mean is.... I hope we don't end up having meetings of 4 (or less people) all the time..

My problem with the current system is, that I have no idea who will attend the next meeting. There are clan members I didn't see for a _long_ time and I'd be happy to see them again. I'd even get up at 5am! (as long as it's on a weekend *smiles*) I mean with Farhope I usually know at which meeting I can see her, but I don't have a clue when Lilly would attend a meeting, or our Clan Clown.

Aerick, I completely understand your situation: while I wish I knew which meetings people can participate, I can see that, depending on their OOC-life, this is not always possible to know before.

Eep, I better stop now. Sorry I don't come up with solutions but add some more confusion to the whole thing...

Well its a difficult situation. We have so many time zones represented in the clan. It would be great to accomodate everyone but it might not be possible.

How do other smallish clans deal with this issue?

My best time to come to a clan meeting with be on Sundays. I love to attend it every Sunday. Having 2 meetings is an idea but the we have to decide if we want to have several mettings in which only 3 or 4 attend or 1 for 8 or 9. In the first senario, the clan winds up feeling fragmented with different folks having meetings about differnt things.

I have to admit that I am at a loss for a solution to this. I wonder if anyone has ever thought of developing clans based on what region on teh world you live in? At least that would make meetings easier to organize.
