Can we please return to teh Sunday Meetings??

I'd like to take a vote on this new meeting schedule. WHos for it and who likes things that way they were.

Personally I think having a rotating meeting is preferable to allow folks with all different schedules to participate in clan meetings. But I also think it's valuable to have a regular meeting time that's at the time most of the clan can make it so we can hang out with the clan. We talked about this at the last meeting, and one suggestion brought up, that I think was a good idea, is to have a rotating meeting, and a regular clan hunt.

Preferably the rotating meeting should have times that most or all the clan members can attend. The clan hunt should be at the old standard meeting time since that seems to be a good time for most of the clan. This might help resolve the biggest issues with the current system. I also think we should consider changing some of the current meeting times- especially getting in a late night time for folks like Lilly, Tessa, Terrahawk, etc.

What are you guys opinions on this?

As I've mentioned in another thread somewhere already, the most important thing for me is that everyone can attend clan meetings. While I liked the Sunday meetings very much (it's _perfect_ time for Farhope and me) I realize that it's a bad time for others (Terra, Tessa, Lilly, etc)

That said, I'm not sure whether the current system will resolve this problem. When the clan meeting(s) is not always at the same time, people will start to miss them even if they could have attended. No matter how many enchanted mails Kiri writes. :) It almost happened to me one zodiac ago, it will happen again and I'm sure I won't be the only one. And if the number of attendees slowly decreases, people who did attend will also start to skip those because "there won't be many people there anyway". At least that's my opinion. :)

I think (yet another opinion :) that 2 different schedules would be enough and would reduce confusion a lot. (as opposed to 4 different schedules atm)

GrayGradi sent out this questionnaire many zodiacs ago. How many people (and who) did really respond to it? My fear is that mainly people who participated our 'normal' Sunday meeting responded. Not very helpful, because Gray made the questionnaire for all the other people! =)

Finally, here are my suggested times:)

(a) our old meeting time on Sunday
(b) another meeting on Saturday, at late night in the US

I think that most (if not all) US people (ooc, gasp!) who can't attend meeting (a) could attend meeting (b). And I think that (b) would also be good for Terra. (should be 11am or something for him then - ok, for Kiri that would be in the middle of the night but for Terra it sounds ok =)

Small summary: :)
-Everyone should be able to attend at least one meeting regularly
-4 different schedules sound too much for me
-I will never catch up with Konoko
-WoD is the laziest clan out there when it comes to reading and replying to enchanted mails =)

Gray: I hope you're not frustrated about this discussion! I know you've spent quite some time with this subject. It's just that it's prolly the hardest quest in the lands! :)

I voted that yes, "I" like the varied times...BUT:
In this past weeks meeting was discussed options. I for one like the idea of 2 seperate "gatherings":

I haven't voted yet mostly for the reason that I'm not even in clanning mode yet and I haven't attended a meeting in like 8-9 OOC weeks. I do like the idea of fluctuating meetings so that more people can attend. But then with fluctuating meetings it takes more effort to remember when the meeting is.


I very much like the idea of say having our meetings at fluctuating times (or say narrow it down to the 2 most popular times or something). At least do this as a trial to see how it works. I may totally change my mind once I start clanning and going to meetings again though... :)

As for having a set clan hunt on Sunday at the old meeting time, this is a good idea too. We could maybe even have a quick (5 min) highlight meeting before the hunt?

Quick meeting? Yeah, that'll be the day...

Actually, I'd really like to have a clan hunt I can go to. I always have to run 80% through the meeting, and miss the hunt. So a hunt without the meeting would be great for me.

Also, I really think we should give the new meeting times a whirl. Go through a cycle or two of them at least. So far, except for the smaller number of participants, it's been a blessed thing for me, and I don't really have a problem remembering the times, so I really like it.

Kiriel has made great strides in keeping us informed of the times via email, so its not a case of not knowing when the meetings are to take place.

Ok... I just wrote a very long rant that I've decided not to post. In a nutshell...

1) Keep the rotating schedule
2) Have only one clan-business related meeting a week
3) Have more gatherings/hunts/etc.

Ok, I have just voted yes that I like the varied times. But we should come back to this say in a month or months time and see what people say then...

To sum up:
- I like the varied schedule (for now - wait until I actually start clanning and have to attend the meetings :)
- And I like the idea of say having a set weekly clan hunt every Sunday at the old meeting time.
- Plus having a bunch of other events/hunts/etc which I think we kinda already do now.

I guess I am in the minority in liking the old way better. In principle, I like rotating meetings so everyone can make it. In practice, however, it has not worked well for *me* so far. I tend to forget things that are not regulary scheduled, and even with reminders, I find I am likely to forget the time of the meeting. Also, I do have to make some effort to keep the meeting time free of ooc commitments. Frequently things come up more than a week in advance. If the meeting time bops around I am more likely to schedule something OOC at the same time. Also, I think all the new times are ones it is more difficult for me to make to begin with.

Although the new schedule is bad for me, I will gladly put up with it if it means more poeple can make clan meetings. But are more people making the meetings? I think we should continue to try the new schedule for a while, but if the number of people at meetings goes down, then we should go back to the old way or some other alternative.

BTW, more clan events would be nice, so get organizing them, Nuvali, and I will try to make them [;)]

I think perhaps having 2 schedules might be a viable idea. Having the regular Sunday meeting and a meetimg time at another time and day. My fear here though is that the 2 meetings will be going in defferent directions and be doing differnt things adn the clan will become fragmented.

My other fear is that the 2nd meeting will be small and the poeple there my become frustrated at this and feel isolated from the rest of the clan. All I know is that my primary reason for clanning as been taken away and I miss it. ie...Sunday meetings

I like the idea though..

I totally agree with you about the dangers of having more than one meeting a week. (Damnit, I should have posted the three page rant).

But I don't see why you still can't look forward to the weekly meeting. Just check the "Events" page on Friday and see when the next meeting will be that weekend. Presto! Instant looking-forward-to! :-D

I voted that I prefer the varied times BUT:

I preferred varied times not for ME (and Sargon) but for those who can come regularly to the meeting. I feel it is not fair that it is a SO perfect time for me (I was able to attend almost all meetings) and so difficult for TerraHawk, Lilly or Tessa. In fact, if I look only to what I like, I preferred the old meeting time but it is so egocentric for me.

I will try to attend the meeting now but it will be more difficult (a lot more) [OOC: in my situation, it was easy when the time was always the same... and so good for me]. But it is not a big problem, I will try to schedule new-exile hunts when I have nothing at our old meeting time... or if we have a clan hunt, that is good too.
