There was a security issue found with the current version of vBulletin, so I plan on upgrading the messageboard tonight from v2.0 to v2.0.3, which means it'll probably be down for about an hour. I probably won't do it till after 11pm PDT. Just an FYI.

Whoops- got really busy last night and forgot to do the upgrade. I'll probably do it tonight or tomorrow night.

This is an example of where I love time differences. I will be so thoroughly asleep before the transition happens, and it will certainly be done before I get up.

Of course, considering how much I've been sleeping lately, the same would be true if it were in my time zone, but still....!

Oh, and, um, good luck. Hope it works well.

Hey, I just had a question!

Are all of these posts stored locally on your computer? How much space do they take up? I had been operating on the system that you hit 'submit' and the message happily lives off in cyber land, where the trees are covered in ice cream that doesn't melt.

The posts are all stored in a database (MySQL) on my webserver (running Linux on an x86 box). Between all the posts and pages on the site, I think it might take up 50MB tops. Web files are so nice and small :)

50 Megs? That's it? My CL text logs are bigger than that!

Remember, the bulk of web pages is just text files and images, and the images are pretty small (rarely more than 50K) for quick viewing. The only big files on the entire site are the visionstones (and the photos in the photo gallery do kinda add up). Web sites in general tend to be fairly small even when you include all the files.

Am I correct in my belief that the threatened update still has not occurred? It's not that I mind, I just want to show off that I noticed the little "Powered by: vBulletin Version 2.0.0" at the bottom, and that it isn't 2.0.3

Wait! Wait! Can I try again?

I mean, it's SO IMPORTANT that every know to brace themselves for the probably 20 min that we'll be unable to access this Forum. I mean, we won't know what to do without adequate warning, and I wanted to ensure that everyone knows to keep themselves braced.

Unless 'it' happened, and the bottom line isn't tied to it, and Kiri just didn't update that. Then, um, consider this a \bug?

I really did mean to update by now, but it's been a really busy week for me. Believe me it will happen eventually. It will probably only take a few minutes to do, but I'm afraid I might break something, so I'm naturally a little nervous about doing it unless I have enough time blocked out to fix whatever I break. It's mostly a security fix so don't get too excited, I don't think there are any major new features involved.
