I have created a new section on the scrolls for the clan timeline. This should contain major events such as circle passings and inductions and such for the clan. Everyone should try to fill in as many past events as you kind of know the dates for. I found a few poking around the meeting minutes, but there are a ton that need to still go in. Any clan member can add events to the timeline and I hope that as new events happen we'll keep it up to date.

Let me know if you have any changes, comments, etc.

I'll try to get to changing the funds log soon now.

Nice little feature Kiri!

I'll dig up whatever times I have and post em...

I added a couple events. One was my passing of the second circle fighter test. It happened before the WoD was formed. Should it still be there?

Any important events for clanmates are fine to list there, regardless of when the occurred.

Thanks for setting this up, Kiri!

One question: Is it ok to use up to 255 characters in the event description or will that break the table somehow?

/ponder Should I add the "Konoko reaches 500 posts in the forum!" to the event list?

hahahaha!

Good idea Sargon! [;)]

255 character events shouldn't break the table although I wonder what event really needs to be that long! It might make it look funny but if it does I can always fix it after the fact.

Well, depending on how descriptive you are, I can easily imagine to break the 255 barrier. :)

Well, let's try to be reasonable and keep descriptions short. I put in a limit of 255 characters in the database, so even if you tried to break the barrier it would get cutoff.

Just do what OS X does - cut out the whole middle part so instead of "Konoko triumphantly conquered the blah blah while doing yadah, yadah until the blah, blah came back" you would get "Konoko. . . came back"

I hate it when it does that. In 10.1 it will wrap on 2 lines or something...

But back to the topic, I would think that 255 is more than enough! Rather than describing every detail, the person posting could always just put a URL in there for those who want more details...

Actually, I was thinking of adding support to include a link in the timeline entries. Do you guys think it would be useful?

Yeah - Good idea...
For instance, I could have a link to the visionstone of me passing the 2nd circle test.

I'll add it when I have some free time, maybe tonight.

There is now an option to add a link! If you want to add a link to something already on the timeline just let me know and I'll stick it in for you.

Thanks Kiri!

Could you add a link to http://konoko_fen.tripod.com/home/stuff/passes_2nd_circle.sit.bin for my fighter test entry?

Thanks!

[Yes, I am late, I was very busy in the library]

Great addition to the scrolls, Kiri.

Personnaly, I would like to have the IC time too, not sure if anybody else wants it too

I was thinking of adding it, but it's not too easy to convert it based on a general date, and I'm not sure how many people know the time. If you guys don't mind it being fairly inaccurate, I could add it.

I was thinking that people filling the entry had to fill the IC date too. So it is possible to write only, in IC date, "summer 540" or "around day 40 of autumn 541" (and it would be optional).

Ah, you mean just have it as an extra field?
I could do that. I'll take a look.
