There is a recent post on the newsgroup from Helpful GM under the "CL: Mystics and armor/weapons (long)" thread:

Yeah!

FWIW, this is the "mystics suck" thing. For 98% of CL players, the mystic class is totally pointless. For a few people, mystics are really fun. Yeah, it's a fair amount of effort for the fun of a relatively few players, but it's something CL has that others don't.

Also, FWIW, "magic users" are in a place where you can soon discover their abilities. A few already know. Don't ask a mystic, though -- they're a secretive bunch ;)"

What's this about magic users?
Anyone have any knowledge or guesses about this?

Thanks!

Magic Users? Like trainers that teach Magic? I'm confused....

Magic users. As in people/abilities relating to magic. I'd put 90% certainty that this has to do with the three fighter subclasses whose names I'm certainly not going to release (send me a private message if you want to know). Bloodblades are in a way, meta-magic. My guess is that bloodblade training opens the way to a more coloquial magic subclass, and that beyond the Bloodblade guy in the closed off area are the magic trainers.

The Magus who has saved a few people over time (most recently Lundar in McBolies I think) might also be indicative of something coming, or a potential something anyway, for healers...

How the combos will work is still anyone's guess (i.e. healer subclasses being Moon/Sun, Moon/Earth, or Moon/Moon, with Fighters and Mystics having their own respctive bases).

Magic in the lands!!

I knew of isolated pockets but I did not know that there were those that were actually teaching it.

Dos anyone know what kind of magic is being taught?? I saw much magic used on the mainlnad by the emporer. Of course we call that dark magic but sometimes I wonder if there is another kind.

The only form of magic that SEEMS to be benign is the form used by our mystics. I would be extremely wary of any magic that is being taught. I for one, will not be pursueing it!!
