I thought it might be useful to have a special section where new exiles could ask questions and get answers, so I created it! Be sure to try to help folks out when they ask questions in this section, and do be careful about spoilers.
Great idea, Kiri. You may want to get Koppi to yell it from time to time. Often people who are clueless about CL will feel more comfortable looking at a web page.

Great idea Kiriel. I mentionned WoD and newby hunts to new exiles recently and I was told they had problems finding information on when the newby hunts took place (in the scroll). I was not sure of this myself so I thought I'd ask it here.
Also is there a list of things we should show/mention to new exiles when we encounter them? There could be something like a check list of things to show them so we are sure not to miss anything important.
I remember when I arrived in Puddleby I was completely lost, and I did not have the chance to have someone show me around and explain the basic things (I probably trained some ranks before understanding how it worked).

What new exiles should do is sign up for the new exiles announcement list, which is linked off the Events page and off the New Exile Center. Whenever we have a new exile event we send a message to the list. They will also be listed on the Clan Events page, but since we only have one every other week or so it's probably more convenient for folks to get notified by email.
I hope that we'll have some more new exile hunts in the future, remember that anyone can host them.
A checklist isn't a bad idea. The main things I start with are making sure they know how to share and toggle, and that they have a basic concept of how to start towards their chosen profession if they already have one in mind. I also try to point out any particularly helpful rescue healers or locating mystics who happen to be around at the time, and make sure they know the location of the rat huts. Then I usually show them Pengy World :)

By far the most useful thing I can think of is the New Exile Tour. Doesn't have to be a specific, just a tour...
WormTounge gave me a great tour of town and the surrounding environs when I first started, and Rincewind helped me out with some locating as I inevitably fell to rats (actually my first ever fall was to a Detached Spirit who one-hit me before I even saw it..."What the #$%& was THAT?" was my reaction). Mongo followed this up with a great tour of the beaches, and some fun rocko whacking. Kiri then got me killed on DI by a Rage (I think it was a Rage...anything bigger than a vermine at that time was horrific and terrifying), and chained me around part of the island...
Taking newbies out to show them interesting sights and offering advice is important - to me it is even more important than newbie hunts and bricking for them, etc... Etiquette and sharing are the big things to teach (always share your healer, don't hog kills, a message of "you sense healing energy from..." is the same as being moonstoned, etc...)

Hey this is great feedback! Exactly what i was looking for. We all have our own experiences as new exiles and as people showing things to newbies and I certainly learned a couple of things from the comments of Kiriel and Aethelred.
Thanks,
Keep them coming :
