UNTO THE WINDS OF DAWN comes this Letter of Greetings from Master Blaise. Written this 10th day of Autumn in the Year 543, in my humble quarters in the Healer Temple of Puddleby.

Greetings!

For some time now I have wanted to join the Winds of Dawn, and I feel that I have reached a point where I can meet the responsibilities that alignment with such an august clan entails. I hearby request that you please consider my application for membership.

It is my understanding that I must needs answer the following questions:

(1) WHY DO YOU WANT TO JOIN THE WINDS OF DAWN?

I had the best of all possible introductions to Puddleby when I arrived. I met a constant stream of friendly and helpful people, and my life here became full of many pleasures -- and not the dreary life of prison exile that I feared. From the earliest I noticed that people like Mehan and Delirium were often along with groups of newcomers like myself, making hard-for-newcomer places like Kitty Beach or the Queen's Chamber survivable and enjoyable. GrayGradi was a constant source of information, and Farhope showed an uncanny ability to materialize in distant corners of the map when I was lost.

Early on, too, I took part in my first WoD New Exile Hunt, and met Kiriel. That was amazing! I got to see a lot of things I wouldn't have expected to see for many many ranks.

Each of us gravitates towards a clan that we feel a connection to. My time with Winds of Dawn has brought me enjoyment, and I would like to be part of it.

(2) IN WHAT WAYS DO YOU ENJOY HELPING NEW EXILES?

I like hunting with newcomers, giving them greater range and survivability than they would have alone. I enjoy sharing what knowledge I have. I remember what it was like to fall underneath the rat towers, or in the undine hut, and as a healer I make it a point to patrol the local area looking for fallen.

(3) WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING WHEN YOU ARE OUT OF THE LIBRARY?

Rescues are my first-choice of activity, but I'm not developed enough to have a lot of range, especially solo. I like hunting, and I like to pretend I'm a fighter (even when evidence suggests the contrary!). When neither rescues nor hunts are forthcoming, I tend to explore the woods by myself... searching for PF routes and running from hungry predators.

I recently had a small part in helping WorldWalker map the Puddleby Undergound, and found it fascinating. I may do more mapmaking in the future.

(4) WHAT DO YOU NOT ENJOY DOING?

I enjoy nearly everything I do here.

One of my personal frustrations is when I want to rescue someone, and there is something hindering me. Either a lack of ability on my part, or lack of access to something (a mystic, a sunstone, whatever...) that I need to locate them. One of the reasons I wanted a map of the Puddleby Undergound was I kept having people fall underground, and I was unable to find them.

Thanks for considering my application! Let me know if you have any additional questions.

It is my pleasure to remain

Your servant,
Blaise

Greetings Blaise,

I am not sure I have met you. I think though that we met in the savannah a few days ago. Please take no offense at my lapse and shortness of memory. I have never been the best with names, but lately it has become worse.

Perhaps age is catching up with me. I have been exiled on these isles a long long time. I think that I remember Kiri arriving but I could be wrong in this.

I beg you all to except my apology for not being as visialbe around town as I should be. A problem which I will take care of. Learning of the Garkazian order as taken up much of my time. Speaking of which. I have lots of things to tell you all about the order. I just need to find time to write it all down in my scrolls.

I seem to have wondered from the original subject......

aa mumbles, coughs and looks through his notes

oh yes..welcome Blaise!

Blaise has been a fun companion on several adventures, and sometimes he even manages to tag a critter before falling![:D]
I think he would be a fine addition to the clan. He seems to have a true desire to learn more of this land of our exile and to share that knowledge. I look forward to calling him clanmate.

I dragged Blaise and Drablack along to McBolie. Poor Blaise got stuck inside when we went out the S exit from the cave (at least the one I know about). We had to go around and get him. I hope he had fun.[;)]

Don't worry... I had a blast.

I had heard little bits about McB but it was really something to be sitting there in the darkness!

Fortunately, none of the bad things I imagined came to pass, and rescue was surprisingly prompt... you guys must have sprinted around to the entrance.

Note to self: Don't yell for help next time! [:)]

Lava walkers in McBollies really are not that common. I promise. Well, at least that's been true in the past......

Er.... and I did warn Drablak and Blaise that we might encounter Lava walkers. Didn't I?[;)]

You did actually. And I have seen LW twice in McBolie, but we did ok each time (luck probably). It's part of the risks of going there.

Was fun (the part in McBolie was fun anyway, the running around DI for fallen afterwards was kind of frustrating).

So what was that cave on the east side that I managed to fall into from the sea? Does it take PF to get into it, or is it just a very narrow opening?

/action is very both intrigued and confused by everything on DI

That cave you mention is probably the Damp Tunnel. You have to hit just the right spot in the NE corner I think to get into it. Doesn't require PF.

I don't know how damp that tunnel is, but it is very dark. And yes, you have to hit the coast just right to find it (ooc- it seems to be about 1 pixel wide)
