UNTO THE WINDS OF DAWN comes this Letter of Greetings from Master Blaise. Written this 10th day of Autumn in the Year 543, in my humble quarters in the Healer Temple of Puddleby.
Greetings!
For some time now I have wanted to join the Winds of Dawn, and I feel that I have reached a point where I can meet the responsibilities that alignment with such an august clan entails. I hearby request that you please consider my application for membership.
It is my understanding that I must needs answer the following questions:
(1) WHY DO YOU WANT TO JOIN THE WINDS OF DAWN?
I had the best of all possible introductions to Puddleby when I arrived. I met a constant stream of friendly and helpful people, and my life here became full of many pleasures -- and not the dreary life of prison exile that I feared. From the earliest I noticed that people like Mehan and Delirium were often along with groups of newcomers like myself, making hard-for-newcomer places like Kitty Beach or the Queen's Chamber survivable and enjoyable. GrayGradi was a constant source of information, and Farhope showed an uncanny ability to materialize in distant corners of the map when I was lost.
Early on, too, I took part in my first WoD New Exile Hunt, and met Kiriel. That was amazing! I got to see a lot of things I wouldn't have expected to see for many many ranks.
Each of us gravitates towards a clan that we feel a connection to. My time with Winds of Dawn has brought me enjoyment, and I would like to be part of it.
(2) IN WHAT WAYS DO YOU ENJOY HELPING NEW EXILES?
I like hunting with newcomers, giving them greater range and survivability than they would have alone. I enjoy sharing what knowledge I have. I remember what it was like to fall underneath the rat towers, or in the undine hut, and as a healer I make it a point to patrol the local area looking for fallen.
(3) WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING WHEN YOU ARE OUT OF THE LIBRARY?
Rescues are my first-choice of activity, but I'm not developed enough to have a lot of range, especially solo. I like hunting, and I like to pretend I'm a fighter (even when evidence suggests the contrary!). When neither rescues nor hunts are forthcoming, I tend to explore the woods by myself... searching for PF routes and running from hungry predators.
I recently had a small part in helping WorldWalker map the Puddleby Undergound, and found it fascinating. I may do more mapmaking in the future.
(4) WHAT DO YOU NOT ENJOY DOING?
I enjoy nearly everything I do here.
One of my personal frustrations is when I want to rescue someone, and there is something hindering me. Either a lack of ability on my part, or lack of access to something (a mystic, a sunstone, whatever...) that I need to locate them. One of the reasons I wanted a map of the Puddleby Undergound was I kept having people fall underground, and I was unable to find them.
Thanks for considering my application! Let me know if you have any additional questions.
It is my pleasure to remain
Your servant,
Blaise
