Can open McBolie again!

As many of you know, McBolie was the souce of some frustration for me recently. After the gods fiddled with PF again, I found myself, once again, unable to open the passage inside the cave into the Volcoon area. I am please to report that, after many zodiacs of visiting McBolie's nearly every time I was out of the library, I was once again able to open McBolie into the interior. I want to go back lots more to try some of the hard paths inside, so I'll be looking for folks who want to go there.

You need mystics and halflings. Now why might you need halflings. If it is because youi want to have a diversion for drakes then I'm not a halfling. However if you need our natural cunning then I'm up for the job.

Drablak, actually we need a path-opening Mystic - or at least Kiriel assures me we do. I remember differently, but she has been in more recently than I have. But I welcome any and all mystics because I like boosts.[;)]

A full mystic with illusion skill is required to get to the drake den, but none of the other areas in the FI interior seem to require a mystic. I do like to have lots of mystics there tho for fun.

No one that we know of has "solved" the mystery of FI, correct? Some seem to suspect the gods have not finished the answers. There may be other paths to be opened that require a mystic. But, truth be told, I usually look for an apprintice mystic when I go on my hunts - boosts are fun, and the higher level mystics just don't seem as willing to boost.

Oh! another thought -

Kiriel, can all "full" mystics open paths or just some of them? I thought there were some journeymen who could open paths too? Anyway, if it is not true that all full mystics can open paths, and there are some non-full mystics who can, perhaps we should have a list of path-opening mystics, like the list of full PFs we have? It would be very usefull in putting together expiditions.

Well, I think it depends on their training. I think all the major full mystics have training in path opening, but some have more than others. I hear Aki and Robin are some of the best trained. But I know that both Lundar and Callia can open the illusions leading to the drake den, and I suspect most other full mystics can. There might be tougher illusions somewhere in there though that we haven't found yet.

Since you can actually see who's a full mystic and there usually aren't that many there's probably no need for something like the PF list, because you can just ask all the full mystics you find.

I hear that journeymen used to be able to train path opening but that they can't anymore or something like that, so only very rare journeymen have those abilities (probably only the ones who've been journeymen forever).

BTW, for those who didn't hear, Wystii is now a Journeyman Mystic!

I heard a rumor that mystic path finding used to be an aprintice skill, right after the ripture war.

Good to hear about Wystii. She is nice, but I wasn't sure if she was even still around. I haven't seen her in a long time.

The mystic trainer that allowed you to open illusions was available to apprentices at one time. Eventually, it was restricted only to mystics. However, there are JM that haven't been promoted to mystic but have the skill. Not many though.
