Some zodiacs ago, I accepted the "Welcomer" office.
1) What have I do?
Actively, only one thing: I regularly check rat towers and farms (sometimes Agratis).
When I meet some people hunting there:
- either they hunt with an experienced exile I know, then I say "Greetings" and continue my way;
- or else they seem to be without an experienced exile and I ask if I can hunt with them [I use the plural form "them"; usually, in fact, the new exile is alone]. It is a good way to know, help and chat with new exiles without forcing too much one's presence to them.
Passively, sometimes, when a hunt is organized in town, I try to propose to new exiles sitting there to participate (when it is not non-sense: not in passes or noth!).
Comments:
- I have made not change to my behaviour before and after I taked the office!
- In one zodiac, I don't see lot of new exiles (usually I hunt with one or two, rarely more). So this action doesn't seem very efficient. On the other hand, I don't know how much new exiles disembark to our island every zodiac and I usually be out the library when few exiles are out also...
- The good thing with that is that I have good relation and well know with some few new exiles (for example: it happens regularly that one toggle me when fallen even if I am not a healer... and I try to help :-).
- It is not really my office to do this, it is more the behaviour of all of us (more or less).
- It would be good if I had the patience to sit in town to do the same :-)
2) What would I like to do?
A. regularly (one each zodiac?) a meeting for new exiles. A meeting where they can ask question mostly ooc (so I think to do the meeting in the fairgrounds).
Problem: organization and, certainly, advertising!
As it will be more or less ooc, perhaps it will be possible (and good?) to have the possibilities to warn all people with a message in the side bar... but I have to take contact directly with Delta Tao I suppose (I am not sure they will accept but I can try).
B. Program from Chris Rex: the "Arms for Exiles" program to get unused short swords and daggers into the hands of newer exiles. I would like to help him (but I don't want to "steal" him), but I don't know how... (I think to try to find sponsors for that [our clan for example], to involve more people [I think that Ratboy try to do the same] and regroup them around Chris, ...).
It will be my first project... as there is already a leader for this, and you know how reluctant I am to lead a project or a group :-)
