View Full Version : Kudzu again :)

Hi!
I don't know about Kiri, but it seems almost impossible to get Kudzu these days! Do you guys think that 5c/piece is not enough? I can imagine it's not the most interesting thing to farm these, so maybe 10c/piece would be a better price for them? What do you think? :) [And no you're not required to sell me some, if you think the price is ok *smiles*]
Just to be sure: There's no way to farm them w/o some sort of weapon, right? I wish there was... :(

5c/piece is plenty money for kudzu.
There's no way to farm them without a weapon, unless you decide to fudge the rules and count it as a "farming implement" and not a weapon. Then a short sword is ideal (just think "weed whacker, weed whacker...")

Well, if 5c/piece is plenty of money, why don't people throw Kudzu at me in town square? :) I don't know many Kudzu one approx can farm during one hour, but it seems to me, that hunting with a party gives you more money and is more fun. The only people who farm people either need them for themselves or want to fill town square. :)

Here's a link to a kudzu farming scroll:

It seems pretty detailed...

Many objects not intended as weapons can be used as such. An anchor can be used to make pretty red patterns with rat brains, or it can be used as a crude shovel to farm with, but it is intended to hold boats fast at sea. Shovels are all to rare in our town, but can't one use such a farming implement for, well.... farming??

Dear Sargon,
I'd be happy to help farm kudzu ... if someone is willing to help get me started ... i dont really "hunt" that much ... because i sltr all i can hit anyway ... *shrugs*
I think i can farm kudzu, and look for fallens at the same time ... *shrugs*
I guess i'd need a bag or two and some seeds to get me started ... *smiles*
May the goddess bless you

Nohn's guide is PRETTY good, but there are a few extra things that will increase your output a lot.
* The first ring around the initial kudzu is not to be killed. They are the ones that produce the most additional plants.
* The longer you wait before harvesting, the more likely you'll get a seed (UNCONFIRMED, but increases the number of plants anyways, so it's probably a good idea)
Wystii, all you need is 1 seedling to get going. Only use bags if you're running out of inventory space.

*giggles* ...
i only have 2 slots 8(, and no seeds to start with ... *sigh* ...
i still have 4 OEs for Kiriel tho ... *looks hopeful* ... and i'll trying asking around town if someone has a spare seed ... *smiles*
Thanks, for the tips Althus ... *smiles* ... i hope i dont spoil it, i've never really tried gardening before ... *blush*
If i can get a few seeds, i should have lots of chances to practice ... and i'll see if i can identify any methods that work well ... *shrugs* ... /ponder note: "try" *sigh*
May the Goddess bless you

Thanks for your offer to help farming Kudzu, Wystii! I hope to be able to assist you. Maybe if one mean kudzu hits back I can heal you! *smiles* And when someone falls we could run together to find him/her! Also thanks to that meanie kitty for the pointer to a very good farming scroll!

Is the sky blue on a sunny day? Of course she is low on space in her pack! What exile who who has been in the lands more than a year (IC) and ventured out of the library is not running out of space???
/ponder only a zo half-breed would think someone like Wystii would have lots of space in her pack.

Are you implying there's some kind of disadvantage to put Kudzu in bags, even if there's enough space in the inventory? (I get this impression because of the word 'only' in your sentence)
And Delirium, whose inventory prolly is filled with clothes and shoes (but not chains), asked:
Is the sky blue on a sunny day?
Yes.

Why should we!? I'm being helpful and all but Konoko wants to pie me!? She also asked HoT to support her evil deeds! That's just not fair! Someone help poor innocent me!!! [:(]
/ponder As long as I stay out of the library, I'm safe from her!

What!!!?????
I did recently buy a pair of shoes - but I immediately went to the dyer's hut to have them glued on my feet so they would not take up pack space. I now have one spare outfit (and no spare shoes!). What with healing potions, food and candy, and healer items (like my moonstone, ring, shield, axe, rapier, dagger, quarterstaff, and candy club), what gives you the idea I have any room for multiple outfits????
/ponder on the other hand, at least I do have an outfit, unlike some people!
Sargon

Healer items? Well 2 of the 8 you mentioned can be used to heal someone or yourself! And one could be eaten, sort of. Not bad!
As for my outfit.. well, I DO have an outfit - it just happens to be tan. I don't wear more expensive clothes because my favourite tailor prefers to hide in the library and therefore couldn't fix them!
/ponder Delirium has more weapons than Chris Rex and his "Arms for Exiles" program...

All 8 are useful to a healer both in the field and when taking healer tests. How else can you remove the rats from a fallen and calm those frisky critters who want to play when you are healing?
As for outfits... hmmmm... "expensive"???
The truth comes out - Sargon is too cheap to buy clothes!

Feh! I've never run out of pack space.
The reason you should "only" use bags when you're running out is that they cost mulah.

Back to the topic of kudzu farming I have one seed and I'll try to farm more but its more likely that I will lose that one. Well I can only hope I do it right.

OOC: You have 7 (?) packs to stash it all in, that's cheating. [;)]

OOC: I have all those packs, but I don't use them. Each character has their own items. I have 0 mules (storage characters).

Althus, how many free spaces do you have in your pack? I often wind up picking up several items when I am out. I try to keep 3 or 4 spaces open, but I often keep items on hand until I can give them to someone. But how many exiles really have 10 open spaces? I think a skilled kudzu farmer could harvest 20-30 seedlings in an hour (ooc), and perhaps more. It seems to me that if one is a dedicated Kudzu farmer, a bag or two is well worth the investment.

Actually my healer has at least 10 free spaces. That said, she doesn't get out much, doesn't bake, only has 3 chains, etc. So there hasn't been much reason for her to fill up her pack. My other two characters always have pretty full packs between baking ingredients and chains (and in the case of the other one, brewing ingredients)

I thank I have maybe 3-5 open spots (it depends on how many pies I'm carrying around... :)
I usually try to keep an open spot for any logs or ore I find.
I did pick up a kudzu bag though. I haven't ever really been one for using kudzu because when I have them I always seem to need the inventory space so I waste the kudzu. So with the bag now I'll be able to keep them and still have some free space.

I try to have 2 open slots, in order to make sure that I have at least space to carry the metal of breaking chains. (I usually carry 2 of them) Of course, usually I run into a log of wood right before they break. That or a brambleberry cluster.
I guess I could clear up my inventory a bit: I think I have 6 logs at the moment. (anyone in need of one?) But from the rest... nah, not possible! Oh and I have an empty Kudzu bag. :)

I give my logs to mystics so they can give them to their new library extension so I'll buy some if you have any depending on how much you are selling them for.

I'll take them then. I will pay for them of course.
