hello puddleby folks,
I've been in puddleby for a small season,
I've managed to get some money, and to figure out i got to go to wood to get berries to have decent clothing.
But, as a newbie, i can't do it alone.
so if anyone would be so kind as to come with me (along with some good counsel) to those dangerous area, i'd be more than happy.(will give any reward i could spare, don't hope for much. anyway you've been newbies).
I mostly leave library when star in the sky show pattern of 'early european night (20-22 GMT)'
Archemar.
(PS1:I realy don't know if this is the place to ask, if not let me know by private mail
PS2: I don't have a picture of me here, w2k at work, but next time ...)

I hate to say it, but any search will probably be in vain unless you enlist a whole lot more than WoD to help you. Orgaberries and Lilaberries are so insanely rare that they only appear once every two weeks or so, tops. Brambles, on the other hand, you can probably get a pack full of by asking in town center for 5 minutes, and won't have to pay a coin.
For the time being (until you get well established enough to cough up the market price for a lila/orgaberry), I advise that you stick to easily obtainable outfits. It shouldn't be hard to find something that looks good if you stick to yellow dye/bleach and avoid gold clothes.

Althus is right... it's too random to hunt very well. That said, you'll find most of us happy to visit places with you. You can find my (fallen) body most (OOC) weekends near town. Just toggle!

I think those berries appear a little more often than that - people I know get them that often, and I don't know everyone. Still, they are very rare and in difficult places. Individuals looking for them may spend months or even years looking. Your best bet is probably to go for coins instead and buy a bunch when they come up for sale (usually once a zodiac or so). They usually go somewhere in the 1-2k range.

Have you picked out a particular outfit you'd like? I'd love to know what you're working towards. I'd be happy to bring you with me to look for berries, but like they said, they're hard to come by. In my almost 2 ooc years in Puddleby I've found 1 lilaberry and 3 orgaberries (and I think that's actually pretty lucky). For orgaberries, snaggy is the best place to look, and for lilaberries I hear the best spot is the marsh.
I'll let you know if I see you around when I'm free to go out looking.

Ok, lets say Kiriel is lucky and the typical exile finds 1 of them per year. Lets say there are 200 exiles (or, more accurately, Kiriel represents 1/200th of all exile-hours spent out of the library). Doing the math... that gets to about 4 rare berry bunches found per week.
Didn't Blaise recently find a bunch?

Yep.
That leaves 3 to be found!

Your math is faulty, Deli. Just because 200 exiles (and where exactly are we getting 200 exiles anyway?) COULD find 4 berries/week doesn't mean there's a practical chance of it happening. Very few people actively search for them, and those that do have a very low success rate. Additionally, people outside the group finding them reduces the berry-density and chance of finding one.
I maintain my stance that it's entirely impractical to actively search for anything bigger than a brambleberry. Don't find it, let it find you.

Archemar,
finding berries (I mean lila or orga) is luck. I found in 7 years, only 5 (or 6, not sure now) lilaberries in the marsh: I am there regularly (I like to run in the marsh) and I am very lucky (I am a halfling). So yes, it is difficult.
But...
but you made the right move, I think. Saying that you are interested in berries (lila or orga?) is the best thing to do.
Oh, btw, you are welcome with me when I run in marsh, who knows... maybe we will find some lilaberries :-)

And the good thing about the Marsh is that when you enter it, you usually spend quite some time in it, whether you want or not. *giggles*
I never found any berries except for tangleberries and.. well.. those pesky brambleberries. And should I actually find one of those rare berry-types (Hi Konoko! :) I bet my pack will be full. *smiles*

Farhope... where abouts in the Marsh do you find your berries? On the islands, or dropped by some bird in the dank marsh itself?

Althus, my math is not faulty. You seem to be assuming you know and hear about every bunch of berries found. I know that not every bunch of berries becomes public knowlegde, and try to use the available numbers to come up with a reasonable estimate. You say my estimate is wrong, but you do nothing to disprove it.[:p]

Irrelevant.
Ones that don't become public knowledge may as well not exist, snce there's no way to get them to Archemar (if you don't find out about them, you can't buy them, and other people are just as likely to be searching for them as us, and have just as high a likelyhood of finding them)
This is like saying that useful exploration happens twice daily. But 90% of it is PM, and they don't share their info. So who gives a damn?

Hmmm.....
Althus makes an assertion.
I say - gee that doesn't fit with my obserations, and here is a rough estimate I think is better.
Althus rejects my estimate without any back-up.
I call him on it.
Athus throws a hissy-fit.
Is someone feeling a bit of Holliday crankyness?
Relax, and have a nice cup of tea, or something, Althus.[;)]

Hmm... I make an assertion.
Delirium says - Gee, that doesn't agree with my observations. Here's what I've observed
I reject her observations as a statistical fluke that is of the same nature as a fighter getting luck-hit 500 times in a row by a single rat.
Delirium makes an irrelevant point (doesn't matter as far as the task at hand, getting Archemar some decent threads).
I call her on it.
Delirium throws a hissy-fit.
(Not what I call a hissy fit, but I'm working with your definition :)
Archemar, what berries in particular were you looking for? There are still a lot of cool things that can be made with brambles.
