View Full Version : Body Trainers

There are three "body" trainers that I know of: Troilus, Bodrus, and Higgrus. Which one is better for a healer? I assume Higgrus would be because he is a healer-only trainer...but I was just curious.

Hi

Here's a lil brainstorming about these from my POV. YMMV :)

Troilus
Makes you selfheal automatically. (w/o moonstone, ring) Mostly used by fighters who solo-hunt a lot, so they don't have to return to town all the time. There are a few healers who have Troilus training, but the common opinion is that the ranks are better invested in Respia/Spirtus, which also help in selfhealing. (although together with a moonstone/ring/cad)

Bodrus
I think Bodrus is chosen by those healers/mystics who want to hit stuff once in a while. *smiles* I think after you stand on his toes, he can no longer train you. I've heard his training style is similar to that of Evus, although most likely slightly less efficient since he's not only available for fighters. Quite some healers have training with him, some from them regret it. Aethelred is an example for a healer with Bodrus training. (I think he stands on his toes) There's a 3rd circle trainer called Hardia which - I think - is like Bodrus. Maybe someone else can give you more info about her.

Higgrus
I think Higgy basically helps so that you can take more hits from creatures. (very useful in the circle tests) I doubt he also increases your fighting abilities, but again, I'm not sure.

HTH :)

Everyone has a degree of Troilus since everyone's health does recover. If you wait long enough, all your health will be restored. But how long do you want to wait?

The more troilus training you have, the faster this rate of recovery is.

And the more higgrus/histia (think of it as your health capacity or hit points or something) you have, the longer it will take for you to be fully healed with troilus. But get more troilus, you wait less and self-heal faster.

I currently have 35 troilus and 100+ (toes) of histia. I can take some hits because of my histia but it does take a while to regen. I'm way too impatient to wait for me to troilus from red to white. I prefer to have healers nearby so they can do that for me!

If I go and so solo hunting (not too often), I'll just head to NWF or SF. But I always prefer to have healers in the area.

One other thing, Troilus used to have its training in steps of 17 ranks. I think it worked like this: you had to train 17 ranks before you would notice anything. And then you would have to train another 17.

Is this still the case? Or is it like any other trainer now?

Althus! I know you're reading this! And you know the answer. Just please post and inform everyone of the right stats.

Actually it was 17.5 ranks. :p (and this is not a joke now! :) That's why many exiles have 105 ranks with Troilus. (=6x17.5) I *think* Troilus is no longer stepped since some time now. (never understood that 'stepped' thingy anyway, because all trainers are steped anyway)

Hmm, I think I'll stick with Higgrus then. This "stepped" thing...is it still around? What I mean by this, for example, would I notice a difference at 40 ranks with a trainer that I wouldn't have noticed at 39? Or is this where the different messages come into play.

Thanks all,

Troilus is not stepped anymore, and has not been for at least as long as I've been in the lands.

I think, but am not sure that Bodrus and Hardia train almost the same things - several skills that help with fighting, but both cause you to loose number of swings and this is the main reason healers regret training with them.

Higgrus just teaches health - so you can take more hits or bigger hits and also have more health to use when healing, but Higgy does not make you harder to hit or help you hit stuff, as far as I know.

Higgrus is very useful for a healer because it gives you more health that you can use to heal other exiles with. Especially useful if you decide to become a spiritus junkie for rodding or you want to specialize in running critters or being a chainer-healer.

Bodrus is a little dangerous for a healer because you gain atkus more than swengus, which will reduce your swings a little the more you train it, and unlike fighters, healers don't have a way to fix that swing reduction. A little bodrus is useful for killing rats and stuff and occasional tagging, but for sure don't get more than 50.
