Ok ladies and gentlethooms!

Time to organize a Pushball League!

Sadly we nearly forgot this great game!!

Here is my suggestion:

Each team consists of 5 players, 4 runners and one keeper, so 5 is the minimum to form a team, there is no limit on reserve team members however.
Teams must be put up before the game starts.
Each Team must have a name :) (Pie throwers!) (Pie throwing is allowed in the game, konoko, btw :-)

A league game is going for ten ooc minutes, the team that scores the most goals within that time wins and receives a point. If both scores are equal, there is no winner, and both teams receive a point. If no goals are scored, no team receives a point.
Drunken teams who win get 2 points :)
(I wanna see that hehe)

There is always a arbitrator (right word?) in the game, who has an eye on the game time, so players are not distracted with doing that, and writes down the score so that there is no fighting about that later. He/she announces the start of the game and its end. The arbitrator is not allowed to stand in the way and may not be killed, teased, or being thrown with pies (!). However arbitrators are just there to witness whats going on and have no rights to send anyone off the playfield or so.

------

The first game is scheduled on the 26th of december. please post your possible time-ranges on that day. Lets try it out, and make something fun and great out of it :-)

Coooooool!

Problem is I have AB-SO-LU-TLY no idea how pushball is played, never seen a game. Do you think we can do some friendly games before doing a tournament?

At any rate I am interested in this. Is it a in-clan league? Do we play against one another or against another clan?

I'd love to play...but I'm not apart of the clan. May I still play?

Thanks,
Hippocrates

There was once a bunch of pushball league teams... the DM had it organized... since Tarf is back out and around perhaps those teams are still... well... who knows... I was.. or still am.. in the Beer Barons I guess!

One thing we found out very quickly that 5 people per team was too many. It was very difficult to score. I would suggest 3 person teams and perhaps rotate players at the half or quarter if there are enough around to do so!

Just a suggestion! I know I'm not WoD.. =)

/ponders I wonder what happened to my team.

BTW, I'm sure the Hearts of Tan would put together a team and play. We've had this topic before on our forums! It's always fun.

Pushball has alot of strange nuances to it. if you hit the ball very lightly, it moves in the direction you were moving. Push it too hard, and it bounces right behind you. Guiding the ball takes much practice. I think 5 players would be ideal, but only if they were seriously well practiced enough to not get in the way of one another. As such, I would also suggest 3 or 4 player teams. The previous pushball league, i believe, had clan-based teams. I would personally be for getting away from that idea as well...more of a player base can be found if a clan affiliation is not required.

A few things.

I just wanted to stir something up with my post, to revive the Pushball game :)

Nicely organized it is very addictive.
What I did where suggestions, and if I meant to suggest a clan-intern league I would have posted it to the private clan forum :)

So... actually I

The old DM pushball league page is here:

The pushball pic is an image map so click on various places on the ball to go to different sections.

Here is a link to the rules they used:

And if you want to see some pushball games, here are a few visionstones:

I haven't heard anything on the old league since like fall 2000 or so...

Supposedly the first season of the league was an exhibition season to test out rules and stuff. But I don't know if the first season ever finished. And I haven't heard anything since...

The Pushball league last year was fun, but it had a serious problem - attendance. Getting a group of people together who could consistently play at the same time was very difficult...matching them up with another group who managed to be entirely present was even harder. An idea to get around that would be to not form pre-made teams...just announce when a game will be, see who shows up, and then either assign captains or randomly create several teams. Follow individual stats instead of team stats. The downsid to this is, if you get someone who is obsessed with the stats, you can get people who sabotage the team they are assigned to for the purpose of making another player's stats better. I am nt sure how to deal with that sort of thing.
