| Crash | well im using the basilisk now for a year and it worked fine but as my gf got a new pc i set up basilisk on her pc as well and now there is an error msg when i try to start the cl character manager "Sorry, there was a failure in the character manager with id -3213" can someone help me plz thx |

| Mjollnir | Im not sure how many people will have heard this rumour but I think its almost certainly true. DT will soon stop supporting the 68k version of clanlord. im fairly sure its true because it was in an email I recieved from Joe. Does this spell the end for all the Mac emulator Clanlord users out there? |

| Hor | Hi Mjollnir, even I have not the faintest idea what "Free PPP" is, I can perhaps clarify some stuff. You use a modem to go online? And you try to use that modem within the emulated MacOS? Bad idea. Basilisk was never intended to be used that way. You go online in windows like you always do. Basilisk is just an application like everyone else in windows. To use a webbrowser, you dont tell it to dial in itself, too. It just uses the dialup connection that exists. So... just setup networking within basilisk like I posted in this very tread like a year ago. (Just use the DNS-Server of your own provider) If you are online with windows, then basilisk will be automatically too. And therefore also the applications withing basilisk like a browser (I recommend icab to download the CL-updates and test connection) or clanlord. Hope this helps a bit, HWC Hor |

| Mjollnir | Ive got those problems solved but ive hit a new brick wall, Basilisk II works, the clanlord application works but the interent inside Basilisk doesnt work. when i try to connect through Free PPP my modem refuses to respond and I get an error message saying that PPP was expecting an OK from the modem but that it hasnt arrived maybe your modem is already busy (it isnt) or isnt ready does anybody know how to solve this problem? please send me a message or an email or reach me on ICQ |

| Mjollnir | Im having problem after problem connecting Basilisk II to the internet Problem 1 Can somebody direct me to a site where i can download a workable version of netscape (the link on the instruction site im using is broken) Problem 2 What is Error -120 and how do I fix it? whatever it is its stopping me from installing free-PPP How you go from there is still a blank to me, Please can somebody help me!? Also can I just download the clanlord files while in Windoze and transfer them across? or should i get a browser and download them inside the emulator? |

| Hor | Huhu Konoko, because I played recently getting Basilisk running again (partly to help Steady Foot 8) I can tell you my experience. On my Athlon 800 with Win98 CL feels not to bad. Its like the same speed I get on my iBook 500 on OSX. (The reason why I still play on OS9 because there its much better 8). There is a little bit of more latency and the screen refresh lags a little behind. Buts only 4 Frames/second so thats hardly noticeable. I have seen Basilisk also on some 1.7GHz P4 and it was not running faster... I guess CPU speed is not really relevant because all the time is spend redrawing the screen. (Its syncing to 60hz or whatever you set.) If your CPU is faster then it just has to wait until the Emulator draws the next frame. So...if you have like 500 Mhz on your windows-box the emulator is just fine. Definitly faster then the original Macs with 68k. There is also a JIT (Just in time compilation) version of Basilisk around. Its a little bit more unstable but delivers MUCH better results on slower computers. A friend of mine plays Clanlord with it on a 166mhz!!! Pentium with it all the time. Hope this helps, 8) HWC Hor |

| Konoko | What kind of speed do you get with Basilisk? I know it only emulates a 680x0 processor so you can't run any of the late, great cool stuff. But how well does Clan Lord run under Basilisk. My understanding is that there are a number of people using it so the speed, etc must be acceptable. Would it just be like running it say on a 68040 (like a Quadra 700)? Or is it faster/slower than that? Konoko |

I did three things wrong. 1) enabled ethernet in the GUI and the router. 2) Did not put any server ports the box. Left it blank. 3) TCP/IP: Did not give the Name server address any value. Yes I can get the IP from "Winipcfg". I have done that before for other programs (games, )Quote:

| Hor | Hi Steady Foot, I used Basilisk II also for quite a while and I think I can help you. Its much simpler as you might think. Basilisk has a built in "Router-Module" which is attaching itself to whatever internet connection your host-windows is running. So MacOS itself it not caring at all. It just uses the given connection - no matter what kind it is. It does not matter if its a modem, a cable, airport... if you have access from windows you have automatically also within the emulation! But - I guess you never enabled the router-module? Here is a screenshot:  Be sure to use this exact settings. So, all done so far. Now be sure to set your TCP/IP control panel in MacOS to sensible values. Theoretically any IP should work, but use this values which work for sure. Please only change the "Name server addr.:" to a nameserver of your own provider. This one in the screenshot will work only for german T-Online. You can get that info with "winipcfg" (DNS-Server)  Now internet should work from within the emulator exactly like it does from windows. If you still have problems disable any firewall software and check if your MacOS installation is not broken. Good luck, PWC Hor |

| Fist of Fluff | You IP address should be set to DHCP server, but the subnet mask and router address must be set manually. I haven't been able to figure out what they should be by using just a PC, so I hook up a Mac and connect to the 'net. You can copy the addresses from the Mac's configuration to Basilisk's TCP/IP settings. | ||
