The Winds of Dawn is proud to announce that we will be hosting our 5th Newbielympics!
When:
All Newbielympics events will take place between Saturday, September 23rd and Sunday, October 1st, 2006.
Who Can Participate:
All official Newbielympics events will be limited to folks below Lord/Lady level (around 550 ranks). Some events may be limited to below Master/Mistress level (around 200 ranks)- any events of this type will be labeled as such. Advance signup is not required, however if you are getting close to hitting the rank limit, you can signup ahead of time with a Winds of Dawn clan member to be put on a list of exiles whose eligibility was pre-verified.
Every exile who participates in an event qualifies for a special drawing to be held at the closing ceremonies for additional prizes.
We are encouraging other clans to hold special events in tandem with the Newbielympics which aren't necessarily limited by exile rank. Although we won't be providing prizes for these events we will be happy to list them in our Newbielympics schedule, so if your clan (or organization) is interested in hosting an event, please contact a Winds of Dawn representative about it.
How To Help Out:
If you want to help with an event, contact the co-ordinator of that event. If you would like to co-ordinate an event yourself, please post in our forum with the proposed event, and time. If you want some ideas for an event, look at some of the pages from previous newbielympics. We will need to approve events not co-ordinated by clan members so they can be considered official. All official events will have prizes provided by the Winds of Dawn Newbielympics prize fund. Prizes will be handed out by a Winds of Dawn member, and if a WoD member can not be at an event, a seperate awards ceremony will be sheduled for that event.
Prizes:
Each event will have an awards ceremony, either right after the event or slightly later. Prizes are undetermined as yet but will be mostly funded from the money raised during the "Blow it With the Winds!" competition and the money and items donated by the Falken Goodbye Fund. We are also happy to take donations of prizes or money for prizes, and if you would like to sell an item at a discount to us for use as a prize, please contact Kiriel D'Sol, Delirium, or another Winds of Dawn member. In addition to the prizes for each event, there will be a few additional prizes handed out at a drawing at the closing ceremony that all exiles who participate in events will qualify for. You can view the pages from the 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th Newbielypmics to see what types of events and prizes we had previously.

Indoor Pushball - Uses the Indoor Pushball field in the playground with one side wearing red and the other side wearing blue. The team with the most scores in 15 minutes wins. All participants get a jersey. |

Boat Race - There are two variations to this contest, depending on how many show up. One way is to have the newbies go around the ocean with helpers acting as guideposts to make sure no one tries to sneak around. The other is to use the river up in the north beach and have each person go one at a time. In both cases the fastest person wins. |

Cear'vae contest: Each participant will receive a bottle and will have to run the Cear'vae contest. Cear'vae is collecting data on how different types of creatures react to certain substances. He need each participant to find as many different types of creatures as possible in 120 minutes (ooc: ±30 minutes). Each participant must hold up the sample to each creature and observe its reaction. |

Clue Hunt - At the start, a clue is given that leads to a location. The newbies make their way to that spot where an assistant gives them another clue that leads to a seperate location. You have to make your way to the finishing location as soon as you can to win. |

Foot Race - The foot race takes place in the playground’s pushball area. The newbies are paired up and they race each other until half of them are eliminated. Then they are paired again and go through another round until half are elminated. This continues until only two are left and a final race is played for the winner. |

Falling contest: There will be 2 categories for the contest: the new exiles (still not Mistress/Master) and those with Mistress/Master title. Every contestant will ("lock") share with Farhope (or with someone helping her but all with one person), she will say the name of a critter for the new exiles and another for the Mistress/Master. At this moment, the contestants have to rush to find this critter and to fall to it. First winning 10 points, 2nd winning 9 points, ..., 10th winning 1 point (in each category). Healers will go to heal everyone. Everyone meet her back in south town. There will be 3 rounds, each time with another critter. Exile with most points wins the contest in each category. |

Mystic Push - In the Mystic Push, the newbies divide into two teams and are given a mystic. They then go to the west beach and their mystic falls. The goal of each team is to push their mystic east past the goal line before the other team does. The teams can push and pull the other team and their mystic to slow them down in addition to pushing and pulling their own mystic. The first mystic past the goal line wins! |

Hide and Seek - There will be 7 hiders who will go and hide somewhere in the farms or town area (underground is not included). Then all contestants will search for the hiders. The contestant who finds the most hiders wins (there will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize). In the case of tie there will be multiple rounds of hiding and seeking until a clear winner is chosen. |

Marathon Foot Race - Contestants will race a long cross-country course beginning at the stage in Bard's Field, heading south to town center, due east to the far border of East Forest, north to the northeast corner of East Forest, and then back. Pathfinding is not allowed. A visionstone of the course can be found here. Prizes TBA. |
